Very cool item! I think it’s quite interesting how they got the cover to move with the bolt. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah, a very simple solution and it makes you wonder why it wasn't used more.

Nice. Repro or not, thanks for sharing. I appreciate your realistic attitude about repros. Sometimes, an original is just never going to be practical given cost or sometimes you can get a repro now and 10 years from now you may or may not stumble into a reasonably priced original.

Beware of those mags! The inside surface of the one i had wasnt blued, and it got surface rust, and would stick, rendering the rifle useless. Ps: it also fits the 1893-1895 mausers, i had mine on a . 308 chileno 95.

Heck yeah, nice addition to the G98! I remember seeing CandRsenal covering these. Adds quite the look to the rifle!

Yeah, just need the night sights or a scope now...lol.

@@usna98 Those both would be amazing additions! The night sights are pretty scarce, aren't they?

That is a really awesome rifle. I wonder if a guy could try "antiquing" that magazine a bit to get it to match the rifle finish a little closer. Maybe apply some vinegar in short intervals and see how it reacts and maybe knock the bluing back a few decades.

You could definitely do that and I have before if I'm replacing parts on an old milsurp. I've found that a light touch with a wire wheel at low speed will also do the trick.

Yes, to keep dirt/mud out of the action in the trenches.
