One day, this is our last one, then a week later there is the next batch. :) It is like buying sea horses off the back page of a comic book. It could happen! LOL! My Rifle came in for royal tiger. Man mine is rough. Absolutely "0" bluing left due to them wire wheeling the whole thing. In fact, they wore wheeled the receiver so much it gouged it all over. I'm going to lightly sand, blue the rifle. Should turn out really good but dang, I cannot believe how much they wore wheeled this rifle.

I also ordered three rifles from Century a couple of years ago, but unfortunately, none came with intact stocks. It seems you've had better luck with one in good condition and two with broken stocks, providing you with an opportunity for restoration. I managed to acquire some Chinese Type 88 rifles from them as well, although their bores are in poor condition, they should serve well as a source of spare parts, including bolts and stocks, for my Gewehr 88 project. I'm contemplating fitting those Hanyang stocks onto the Gewehr 88, perhaps as a hobby shooter 🤷‍♂or even attempting a sporterized version-although that may require significant modification. I've seen someone achieve it before, albeit with extensive alterations. At least the receiver should be compatible. Regarding the bolts, it appears that headspacing is an issue. The prices for bolt heads on eBay are exorbitant! It's quite a challenge to find a full Gewehr 88 for under $400. Nonetheless, these projects promise to be enjoyable, as I embark on the hunt for parts and delve into the world of restoration.

I recently purchased a Gewher 88 rifle at a local gun show that was also missing the bolt head assembly. After a bit of research, I too purchased a bolt head from Myers and it should be in my mail box shortly. The rifle is in very nice condition, with an excellent bore, and it will be a fun project. After a complete disassembly, I was very pleased to find an original in-the-white finish on the exterior of the barrel! Someone had caringly greased it at some point, so it has survived well. The barrel jacket has a couple of light dents, and the rear band was stamped with the regimental markings. Original finish overall, and it doesn't show any Turkish markings or import stamps. The bore appears to be 0.318" after a careful lead slug ball was driven into it and measured with a mic. This old dog will bark again!

I have both an original 1888 Mannlicher and an 88/90. I can't tell any real differences between the two except the side plates on the rear sight. Supposedly they also changed the chamber area slightly; hence why there are 8x50 and 8x52 cases. The case length doesn't really seem to matter in these so long as it's between 50 and 53mm or so. Anyways, I was wondering if you would happen to know if they changed anything with the action to strengthen it or did they basically just change the sights? Reason being, I know these aren't the strongest actions and found it odd that nothing was really changed as far as action strength when transitioning to smokeless powders. I would like to use the same loads in both of my Mannlichers if possible. As an aside, I do load my own ammo. Those loads from Castos Curios seem a bit stout for the wedge locks. I'd probably only fire those in the M95 Mannlichers. I think the loads for the wedge locks was a heavy 240-245gr moving about 1800-1900fps but those were with black powder and semi smokeless loads which have a gentle pressure curve, though I'm sure many of these wedge locks were fired with the later M93 ammo as well. Having multiple special cartridges in the same caliber being made and issued would be a logistics nightmare. I suppose other "weak" actions also made the transition to smokeless. Rolling block, Vetterli, Martini-Henry, M71 Mauser 6.5 conversions, the Gras 8mm conversions, etc... Liked and subscribed btw. You've done a good job restoring a lot of these arms.

Does the magazine cutoff hold any value to the rifles? I got one and it is missing one by the looks of it. It is an AOI marked and it isn't from their B grade stockpile but their A Grade. They be costing $399 but it was purchased on Black Friday for $199 unlike the $150 B Grades at the time.
