Estepario will tell you, he's not even the best drummer in his country, and will tell you to check out Eloy Casagrande. Humble man with skill and timing. I think Estepario IS one of the best. Right now I think his reservation behind the claim is the lack of full set practice and touring.
You may be right @@antisquishy when it comes to lack of confidence from touring etc. I do love that he seems to be humble and gives others like Eloy Casasgrande the credit they deserve. I also saw the video he put out about the Slipknot rumors….that would be wild if he joined them even if just for touring! 😳
THE BEST....music it's not a sport. He is definitely one of the best drummers and he has a brilliant technique but I think being a musician is not more than just that.

El Estepario is another level ! Watched many many clips and he never looks bored or exhausted, but each song sounds even better as the original with his fills, extra notes, shadow notes and the stuff he is doing !

He actually made a statement about it where he denies being the best drummer. He stated, "I'm not even the best drummer in my country." I think we have never seen his type of innovation in style and he is very quick and clean.

In any case, I believe that he is absolutely among the top 5 of the world's best drummers. He offers so much extra in the technical field. He is in his absolute flow, one that is certain. Very entertaining to watch and listen to. Thomas Lang is one candidate also.

the crazy thing is that is just a basic show off move for him the but intricate way he can use 4 limbs at different notes is what makes his drumming insane. And to anyone says he uses quantization... He doesn't slow it down and put on a nice headset.

There ist no such thing as a best Drummer of the world.
He would never say that about himself, but he ist without question technical in of the best. Musically ist's a different Story. There are so many musical styles and requirements that no one can cover optimally. Unbeliebably good are his technique, timing,
discipline, joy of playing and above all his discipline. I love to see hin...
I agree BUT it’s always a fun conversation like the “Jordan vs LeBron” debate. So many drummers have paved the way like Steve Gadd, Buddy Rich, John Bonham, Neil Peart, etc. Music is so much about preference but El Estepario is a Master of the craft!! To put a little nuance into the talk; what are the parameters for "good"?....
First, I have to tell, I am not a musician, I know very little about drumming.
From what I see, when Jorge (El Estepario's name is Jorge) plays, and from what I learn by watching reaction videos, is that he is tremendously technically talented and skilled. On the parameters of being able to perform technically super difficult things, he could be the "best" drummer in the world. Jorge is SO inspiring to watch, I am in awe and I enjoy watching both his videos and the reaction videos - I am a fan.
He himself tells, that his primary interest is to keep getting technically better, doing progressively more difficult things - not to play in a band "just" supporting the other artists in making great music. He has worked in bands, I believe he still does, but he does not seem attracted to the proposition (by non-members if the band Slipknot) to become the next drummer for Slipknot.....
So on the parameters of supporting other band members in making great music, he is arguably NOT the "best" drummer in the world.

Love the comment! I think when it comes to being a musician there are so many variables that come into play. The question “Is he the best?” is more of a fun talking point. Some drummers are better at writing parts that fit perfectly into a musical composition, some are great at laying down a ‘pocket’ and making the music feel good, and others are technical and do things that mere mortals can’t. Music is preference and it’s always hard to say who “the best” is because everyone brings their own unique style and personality into their instrument. He would be upset if you stopped drumming. One thing he's iterated on many times is that of the things he wants, he wants you to relearn your passion for drumming and practice more. While he certainly has talent, he rightly says that the majority of his seemingly effortless play comes from practice. Dude practices all the time.
If you wanna get to his level (I'm sure he'd love the competition), practice. When you wake up, when you eat, when you shit, even when you sleep.
I 💯 agree!! I was just joking about retiring the sticks BUT I think every musician goes through hills and valleys when it comes to their playing. @@setonhillstudios there are drummers, and their are geniuses. Vinnie, Garibaldi, Steve Smith, Omar, Chambers, Gadd, Weckl, etc. This El Est guy is amazing! But he plays in a room, by himself, to mostly 4/4 songs, playing singles, doubles and the occasional paradidle. Nothing overly complicated when played at a snails pace. A few of the grooves have some nice footwork. If a hack drummer like me can come up with the rudiments below, this guy could elevate his complexity.

One who comes to mind that does crazy shit like he does is Dylan Elise, but he is like an off niche specialist that really only grab musicians attention, el is taking songs we all know and creating covers that we all would rather listen to than the original. That nba four pedal song he just did….literally everyone hates that song it’s so over used but now we all got it on our playlists thanks to el. 😂

I was amazed by the speed and technique, first 3-4 videoes. Now it all sound the same. Sorry. There is never 1 best drummer( to rule them all :) We all can have our own personal favourite tho. Depending on our personal taste 😬😬

He's a game changer. Is he the best? Who knows, but he is a game changer and there have only been 2 before him.
