After trying and failing to treat them successfully myself, I worked with the University of Florida Aquaculture Lab to get a full veterinary work-up and scientific diagnosis of the problem. This is so incredibly sad. But this does show all of us that no matter how careful you are, anything can still happen. I really feel for you, and I hope you can find the strength to move on in this hobby and start all over again. On the bright side, you do have this awesome new and sterile fishroom to rock it! H.C. Aqua did you know that the uv light affects the amount of iron in the water so don't run it 24 7..... 18 hrs is enough

Hang in there. I have been through something similar. I was losing fish, went from 15 to 4 in a very short amount of time, and I was trying everything to save them. It turned out to be my tap water. I got it tested and it contained a chemical from algae that while not harmful to humans, it is deadly to fish. I contacted my town's local water district, but got no where. I almost gave up on the hobby. I just felt totally defeated. I seriously considered just quitting. I didn't though. Ultimately I had to just get a whole home water filter system that I could hook my Python hose up to. It has 3 filters, with the last one being a carbon and resin block to pull out the toxin. It worked, and I was not only able to save my last 4 fish, but eventually, I got new fish, and now have happy, healthy fish again. Just know you are not alone, we all have things happen, no matter how careful we are. I had been in the hobby 20 years before my catastrophe happened, but it happened, and watching your videos, along with others, helped me realize, that sometimes things just happen in the hobby, and you can't let it beat you. Thank you for sharing your story. I know how hard it has been for you to talk about it.
Sly Bulldog I recently (month or so ago) lost all my goldfish due to a cycle crash. I still had other fish but I said no more goldies for awhile. The other day I took a peek at petsmart and fell head over heals for a stunning oranda (i think the very educated employee who helped me was even a little surprised at that quality of a fish being in petsmart) and i brought the fish home.

Like you said, sometimes things are unavoidable. I'm sure you will have healthy, beautiful goldfish again and your new fish room is beautiful. At least your fish died in peace and not in a dirty, overcrowded chain pet store tank.
I'm so so so sorry for your losses and I hope cross-contamination hasn't doomed your discus. I have to say though, your pained expressions and your obvious stifling of tears really hurt my heart. However, I find it so amazing and strong of you to sit down in front of a camera and calmly explain a shitty situation to thousands of people online. You expressed your sadness, anger, and frustration but you did not let that ruin your content or prevent you from providing a nicely conveyed video.
I'm very sorry for your loss as a more recent subscriber and it hurts so much seeing you go through this, as I've been through similar situations with fish and other animals I've kept. I truly have to thank you though for still being able to provide quality content, as calmly explaining the situation and walking your viewers through what happened was EXTREMELY professional of you. There are rarely times when I'm impressed by a youtuber's character and you've truly impressed me. You are a wonderful person and I wish you luck with your future fish.
I have kept fish for over 50 years and never experienced such an overwhelming problem. I am convinced it's a water born issue, if the incoming water is contaminated, you stand no chance of eradication.
When I get new fish I have a huge bucket and I pour all the fish and water of the bag through a big net that catches them and none of the water from their bag goes into the aquarium.

I think the guy above meant that the problem might be in the tap water. Tap water does contain organisms within it. That's why it's advised not to drink the tap water when you go abroad. It's not that their water is filtered / treated any less effectively, it's because they have different micro-organisms.
I am so sorry for your massive loss Jen - I can't even imagine how devastating it must have been. I wish there could have been a better outcome for you and your aquatic babies.
I lost two bettas to dropsy within a month, i couldn't imagine losing so many fish at once
Liefien Fera Dropsy is a symptom, not a disease. Dropsy is a sign of kidney failure.
Big City Bettas It was the symptom caused by an infectious bacteria in the tank, that wouldn't respond to treatment. I just used the shorthand, as she had said that exact sentance in the video
You inspired me to get into goldfish keeping so don’t feel discouraged. The next group will be bigger and stronger then ever.

I know you did the best for your fish and they had a great life with you but sometimes life just gets out of our control. I feel sorrow for what's happened to you. I could tell how heartbroken you were as you spoke, especially near the end of the video. Perhaps this is a calling to start anew, almost like a reset button. I only own one goldfish, my greenish-silver Loafy (she's a fantail goldfish I've had since Sep 9th, 2016, and she's only alive in a fifteen gallon tank because of your excellent instructional videos) but I know that loosing pets isn't something to celebrate.
I'm not good at leaving encouraging comments like this.. but maybe you'll see this, I have no idea. But I just hope your new fishies are able to live happy and full lives, that you're able to share new experiences with them, and that I'll be able to see how adorable they are when you show them to us! Jezus Jenny. I put off watching this one because I had a bad feeling where this was going. I've had the same 3 piggies (fancy goldfish) for about 10 years. 1 of them started in a 2-gallon tank, then 2 in the 10 gallon. I moved to a 29 and had 3. Then finally the 3 piggies are in a 55 gallon with 2 huge canister filters. Watching you for so long has helped me be a much better caregiver and has even helped me cure one them who got sick. Never stop this channel. Solid Gold has always been about goldfish. I can't even call this a hobby because each and every Goldfish is unique. They are our close friends. Keep going, Keep teaching, Keep learning and sharing all of it with us. #LLAP
I once lost a tank of 10 goldfish within a few days and it was so devastating that I never got goldfish again. I can only imagine how terrible this is for you. Stay strong and keep going! I'm glad you decided to get more and I'm sure you'll have better luck with the next batch.
I also had the same problem and unfortunately lost all my goldies. The tragedy almost got me to quit the hobby. Hopefully your goldies get well soon.

You have tried to use a UV filter. I have 1 installed in a tank of 400 liters and connected 24 hours every day and I have no problem with parasites and diseases.

I've been watching your videos forever, and have been following this story since it started in may and every video has been hard to watch since then. That being said, it must be alot harder for you to make these videos, especially since every single goldfish is like your baby. Unfortunately I think not QT properly or becoming complacent is something that happens to most if not all long term hobbyists at some point, I gave up fancy goldfish in the early 1990s after the exact same thing happened to me from not QT. You would think 25 years later I’d remember the lesson but I got complacent and wiped out a marine tank due to velvet from contamination on a coral, everything and anything wet is a potential risk!

I am gutted watching this. Jennie, I'm so sorry for your loss. While you already know that this was not your fault, and that you did everything in your power to fix the issue, it doesn't ease the pain of losing the tiny little souls that become so close to one's heart. I am glad to hear that you are choosing to continue to pursue the hobby and make videos, and look forward to your updates.

I am so sorry for your loss. I found your videos after looking up tips for set up a tiny (5 gal) hobby tank for our family (of course we're not doing goldfish), but when I was your age I was very, very into guppies and had a friend who had half her apartment dedicated to her bettas. We never really rose above hobbists, but I do know that every lost fish is painful. I eventually had to shut down my tanks because of a cross-country move, and so this is the first tank I've set up in over a decade, and we're taking it VERY slowly.
Even if you can see the cause and are doing your best, sometimes fish just don't respond to treatment, or the damage has already been done. From the love and care you show for your fish in the video, I know you were the best fish-mama possible, and I hope you do try again. My heart breaks for you, and all your gorgeous lost fish.
First of all, I'm so sorry for your lose :'( You know, I never make comments, not even in fb pages, but this time allow me to say something. Recently I started with this hobbie, and in my country it's quite hard to find some guidance or at least common sense about taking care of fishes. As in many places, it's just about the money. Without knowing too much about it I jumped into this hobbie and sooner rather than later I discovered that I wasn't ready for it, yet I made my best effort to do it the best way possible. Thanks to you, and all the effort of other bloggers/youtubers I could expand my knowledge almost immediately. Thanks to that effort, probably my fish are alive, and I dare to say they will have a better quality of life. Thanks to you my fishes will be happier! and so am I. Hopefully, this work and passion that you have for it will keep helping others. I know this is a small or not at all a consolation but I just wanted to share it with you. Even though those fish have passed they are luckier than %90 of fish because they went to someone who would do everything she can to have them happy and healthy

The longer we have waited, the more I have feared this was the update that was coming. I am glad that you are strong and humble enough to share this major setback with your viewers. A lot of 'pet bloggers' won't share their mistakes made or the random catastrophes that can happen to anyone, and I feel a little bit like it sets the people who rely on them for information up for failure (or at least feeling like a failure). I am so sorry for all you've lost, and I hope the new fish and projects ahead of you bring you a lot of happiness and excitement.
Hi Jenny, so sorry to find out about your goldfish. You are a wonderful inspiration to the rest of us with how well you care for all of your critters. I am on the last few of my fish that I have been keeping for about thirty years. Over population and no time for proper water changes led to incurable columnaris for us and I'm just waiting for the last few to pass, then I'm calling it quits. It will be too hard to get any remaining pathogens out of all my hardware and I just can't go through this heartache anymore. I don't know how you handle it, you are amazing. I haven't been able to bring myself to break down the smallest empty tank yet, everything is still running in it, and I don't know how I'm going to handle it when the rest go. I can't imaging my place without the soothing sounds of a fish tank. I love watching your posts, you voice is very calming, totally the opposite of my crazy life.

I almost forgot to ask you, I noticed that you were using some plastic type containers. Is there any way that there could have been toxins leached from the materials? I'm grasping at straws here, you know, maybe looking for a different angle.
Since Florida has hard to very hard water, the water may have had high bicarbonate levels that affect kidney functions and result in calciferous deposits in the kidneys and other organs.
Could the problem be in the local water supply. Hurricanes could have brought them in and city filter not filter it out.
So sorry Jen about the lost and the helplessness u have felt over ur beloved fish. Been following u for a year or so now and I have to thank you so much for making the hard to make videos, about ur sick fish. It brakes my heart to see someone lose a pet and for someone to go to the lengths u have to save then is amazing and inspiring. Much love honey. Hey Jennie I had the exact same issue but I managed to catch it fairly quick and I did 100% water change got new living plants and I use substrate so new substrate and cleaned the sides of the aquarium then waited a couple days then refilled the tank with water and (declorinator) and tested the water then put my orandas back in and they have been fine for 5 months!

Sorry to hear about the loss of your collection. That's a tough way to learn about the importance of strict quarantine procedures. I see other well known CZcams aquarium hobbyists being pretty careless with their fish, as far introducing new stock into their fish room. Ideally, new arrivals should be kept in a separate room, with their own set of tools and cleaning area. Even foot baths, gloves. I would suggest not working with new arrivals the same day as the main collection, having changed clothes and showered.
Are you on a well? You need to check your water get a real estate agent to refer an environment specialist and get that water checked
Sometimes you need to use lots of Clorox and wipe out your well because sometimes coliform bacteria can leech into your well especially since you do your water changes
Donna Kate Morgan I also think it's something in the water. There's so many medications and pesticides that leech into the ground water that it's hard to tell.

I don't know why her fish get sick since she takes good care of them, I have mine on a pond outside and they have never got sick , the majority have 2+ years, I do water changes but once a week or two if it rains a lot.
Jenny don't give up, and it sounds like you're not. I came back to CZcams early 2017 and in the shadows I set my 125 planted tank back up, something got me too, I tried putting different types of fish in there, tried every option and exsasuted every resource, finally I drained it removed everything, and I'm in a parking lot right now after buying new filtration for it. I know it sucks and it takes the energy out of you, sometimes you gotta take a breather like I did, but your still pushing through which takes a lot. Good luck, it rains on the just and in just, better tanking days are ahead of you !!
I’m so sorry you’ve had to go through this :( I have never seen amoeba at work on fish but have witnessed it with reptiles and it’s absolutely vile and can wipe them out very quickly so I can imagine in fish tanks it’s absolutely devastating. With reptiles they just suddenly stop eating get lethargic and die, often within a week or two after noticing that they refuse to eat so you rarely have time to even try to do anything for them and it can be quite shocking and can leave one feeling confused and empty after such a sudden loss even if it’s not on the scale of what you’ve been dealing with.
I am however glad that you haven’t given up as your videos are the best source for people wanting to learn about goldfish care. Someone gave my son 3 comets recently and had it not been for your videos I wouldn’t have known what to do at the start, so just know that the work you put into it is very much appreciated and is probably helping to keep people from inadvertently killing their fish out of ignorance.
Hi! 2 suggestions since you are in the state of Florida like I'am ! 1. Water quality: Specially the Tap water you use for your fish, and 2. Have the frozen blood worm and or any live black worms you feed your fish with; test in a Lab! I'm a retire aquarium service person and also use to breed, import and export all king of live tropical fish, Fresh and saltwater ! Did breed goldfish and cichlids in the 80's when I was living in Fort Lauderdale , and back then experience something similar to your problem! Also back then I have Issues with the water quality from Tap water from the city I mention before. As of your Discus is concern, did you increase the Temperature to 89f ? Hope your beautiful fish get better and you find the solution soon ! Sincerely your subscriber
Hi again ... for discus We increase the temperature from 86 to 88 degrees Fahrenheit from 30 to 31 degrees Celsius
- Change a large amount of water before starting treatment
- Magnesium sulphate or Ipsum salt is used for one suspension per 10 gallons of water and operates within 24 hours
It is repeated for two days where it works to control digestion and regulate the digestive system of the thickness of the fullness and indigestion
- Formalin or Malatite Green to eliminate external microscopy mainly
external protozoan parasites, gill flukes, Costia, and Trichondina. I hope every thing will be fine ...thanks
I am so sorry to hear that this is the final result. I have been watching your journey for many years, and this has definitely been the most devastating moment. Even with my many years experience in this hobby, I can't even begin to fathom the sadness, loss, and anger you are feeling. I really do hope... that you stay in this hobby and that you never have to go through this again. I am.... speechless. I don't know what to say.

I've been to hell and back with fish loss over the years as well I feel your pain. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with your water supply? I know someone that was on well water that thought they had perfect water but it had parasites in it that affected his fish like yours....
Stay strong! Discus are notoriously hard to keep, and just the slightest thing off might affect them. It might be because of your goldfish, it might not be, but one thing's for sure: don't stop! I don't know what I'd do if you permanently quit, and I'm looking forwards to the new goldfish!
Jenny, I'm really sorry for this outcome. I think I would be right to say that all of us who watch your videos were hoping for a definite answer and that it would be something you could easily deal with. I could tell this was a hard video for you. I almost cried just watching you trying not to cry.
Thank you so much for sharing the results with us and being honest about what happened. For those of us who are new to the hobby especially, it's important to know that things like this can happen even to best of us.
All I can tell you is YOU ARE NOT ALONE. I have been going through the same exact thing and have come to the conclusion that there’s something out there that there’s just no treatment for... yet. I’m not a new goldfish keeper, either. But geez this “epidemic” had me scratching my head. You absolutely did nothing wrong. Part of this exotic, small hobby is that there’s always something new and unexpected out there that we have yet to learn or even know about. Just put another fish with dropsy down last week. It ain’t easy. I about ran from all fish related stuff and cuddled in the corner with my fluffy, easy to care for dog. Chin up, lady. I’m here with you and I’m not giving up!
Are you sure it's not something in the water? I'm so sorry this has happened. Happened to me too. But it might be a pathogen in the water that's evaded detection and doesn't affect us. I guess if this happens again you'll know if it's something in the environment and/or the water.
I'm again so sorry that this is happened. I know that to most people they're "just fish," but to us they are family. We provide everything for them down to the very oxygen they breathe. We watch them grow, and help them through hard times; as their presence helps us too. I hope that your next fishies live long, happy lives and that this doesn't happen again.

Solid Gold Aquatics definitely. Fish illnesses typically don’t get to me but I always cringe at dropsy. The fact that it’s a pretty slow and probably painful death makes it worse

Sorry this is happening. It really sucks to see this happening to someone who cares so much about this hobby. I know it couldn’t be prevented, but what you have gone through is making me take a serious look at my own quarantine practices.
I'm so sorry for all of your losses. I can truly sympathize with you. I foster puppies for a rescue organization and we ended up with Parvo in our home. In the end we only had 4 out of 13 of our beautiful German Shepherd/Husky puppies and Dalmatian/Lab mixes survive. I completely get how you feel you have lost a part of yourself. We also had twenty newborns (they survived since we were SO careful not to expose them, but they were put in a safe home)and within 2-3 weeks we were down to only our two dogs. Fortunately this wasn't dragged out nearly as long as your experience, but this was devastating. They were 7 & 8 weeks old when they were exposed and pretty much all of them had homes to go to if they recovered. I was so attached to them, they were my babies as I know your Goldfish were to you.
Have you had your water tested ?? I'm not talking about normal every day water test kit....Especially if the discuss are suffering as well....I would look at that....do you live in a older home with older pipes? Do you leave your water run a long time before using the water in your tanks? I'm suspicious of it being your water straight out of the faucet....I'm sorry you had to go through this.,.it's heartbreaking xo

Not sure about your area Jenny, but out here the city will check for free to give heavy metal contents, etc. It can be incredibly helpful to help narrow out potential issues.
Melissa Berry she is very knowledgable, I’m sure she’s checked her water and knows everything that goes on with it. She’s not a very casual fish keeper, she takes things very seriously and is very intelligent. And if she’s having problems with her water, they would’ve been more evident sooner, because she’s been using the same water for what, months? Years?
Keep it simple. You went tangent with axyos, discus, frogs, etc... what's next? Stick with your true passion GOLDFISH.

I know your not looking for anymore suggestions but I'd definitely be putting in some kind of water filtration system in before starting all your new tanks. And possibly a uv sterilizer :)

I just subbed a few weeks ago and had power-watched every thing about this issue.... My friend and i (she told me about your channel) are in a Veterinary Assistant course, preparing to take the state certs after our externship... But im feeling so awful for you having lost all your beautiful, artful fish... I kept many fish and bred them in my 20s, I had one veiltail, I loved her so much, she was beautiful... She got sick and died about 5 years in.. I knew nothing....i dosed her with stuff... She didn't get better, I was so ignorant... Anyway now i am planning to have veiltail or similar goldfish group on display in a large tank in our living room, I'm researching everything they need and your video worth the king of diy where you both said Don't medicate, do water charges and wait" maybe would have helped my pretty fish... It will help any I get going forward. And you will help any going forward that you get, having learned from this horror... It will take time.... Hugs and love!
sucks you are losing your goldfish and discus to something that you can't control. I bet that is the most frustrating thing. You have a strong connection with your fish and you always treated them with the utmost respect.
As hard as it is to make this video it is beneficial for us novices who want to keep fish. Your research and experiences help us novices to learn how to combat these issues by being better prepared. Covering medical diagnosis and effects on fish, knowledge on diseases, and example of good fish care by preventing stress on the fish by taking steps to prevent pain or discomfort to the fish when it impacts the life they have left. I would rank the last point as things sometimes pet owners don't think about when initially starting in the hobby or getting a pet. NO doubt in my mind you tried giving them the best life they could have. Appreciate you sharing and I hope things get better soon.
Oh no, so sorry to hear :( Have you considered having a look at your water under your microscope? Methylene blue stains many amoeba and protozoa... apologies if you have an amazing filtration system that would deal with this, relatively new to channel, I just have this vague recollection that you moved house this year and maybe the new water supply is different?
Could it be your water source?
Has that been considered?
Jenny honey I am so, so sorry for your loss. You did the best you could with the resources you have, even going as far as the difficult step of sending fish away for lab testing. You love your fish so much and it breaks my heart to see you suffering like this. I hope that when you've been able to deal with the grief of losing all your goldies, you will be able to feel the joy of this hobby once more. I'm glad to hear that you'll be continuing with goldfish - your love for them made you my favorite aquarist on CZcams.
Hi Jennie,I can't even imagine how hard it has been for you to lose all your fish and especially something you are so incredibly passionate about. I am so sorry. Watching this and all of the updates in the past has made me wonder if you've reached out to your water company to see their latest quality report? I think you can also request to have them come out and do a full test of your water. I grew up in Florida and know full well water quality is not particularly the state's biggest triumph. I wish you the very best for your new fish in the future and I've learned so, so much from you!

Sorry I can't remember it's been that long. But I wasn't referring to pulling out a master test kit. I meant actually do some extensive testing on the water

Wouldn't the only common denominator between the goldfish and discus tanks surely has to be the water ? ( as i doubt you are feeding the same thing ) , i know you probably test the water regularly but what about on a microscopic level as with the testing you had done on the fish.Either that or its something that you yourself/partner is introducing in to the tanks not turning all CSi but where and what do you touch for work etc
I watch your videos sporadically, but really feel for you. I have kept goldfish in the past; and had some similar experiences as yourself. Goldfish do become pets, I believe more so than tropical fish, making it very hard when they become ill. I only have pond fish now, not yet wanting to become as close to them as I did in the past to avoid the grief that you are feeling. It brings tears to my eyes to write this. So, So, Sorry about all the loss and emptiness you are feeling.
I'm so sorry for your losses, Jenny :( It's so sad that it seems that this wasn't a treatable pathogen & that the lab wasn't really able to come to a pinpointed conclusion - however at least you know that while this was tragic, it wasn't your fault & you shouldn't beat yourself up over this ♡
I had a similar problem with all 3 of my bettas in a divided tank - all died of dropsy over a few weeks. They were all quarantined & treated for parasites. I loved them all dearly, so while it wasn't in the same scale as your tragedy, I totally understand how you feel
It is a cruel hobby at times, But i'm glad to hear that your planning on continuing to keep fish & I hope all goes well next time around xx
The parasite sounds like the bubonic plague of goldfish. May I ask what you do with your fish after they have died? Do you have a little cemetery for them?

She's said in a previous video that she generally bags them and puts them in the trash, that way they can't spread pathogens or parasites to the environment.
Have you considered the possibility that it could come from your water itself ? Your water certainly has a very good quality and very good parameters, but there could be some substances or residus in the water that you can't detect and that could maybe hurt your fishes even at very low concentration (pesticides, polluants, chemicals, etc...).
Some substances are very hard to detect or almost impossible, and the one that are detectables are often not harmful for humans or too low in concentration to hurt humans, but they could maybe interact in a different way with fishes because they are very sensitive to water condition. Even rain water is not safe because rain often contain alot of polluants too, so maybe you should look into that.
We are all supporting you! Don't give up this stuff happens all the time as you said. Even though you got a rare spreading of dropsy and the odds weren't in your favor we will wait for you to recover over your emotional recovery.😞🐶💐🌹

HMMM, this makes me wonder if perhaps something could have come in on something other than new fish. Are you on well water or city water? How are the axolotl doing? Probably doesn't make any difference if they are doing well because they could be resistant to the infection but carry it anyway? Same thing could hold true for any amphibian since it does have a water cycle (tadpole or newt)? In any case, I feel for you and don't envy what you are going to have to go through. Not just the loss of the fish but all the work you are going to have to do to sterilize everything and I do mean everything before you use it again, even if it has set dried. I've been through this before and it took several attempts at restarting before I was able to succeed. But hang in there. I'm sure you'll make it.
If it is amoeba, that might be visible in the water from the tank on a wet mount on a scope. That would also possibly show the presence of a swimming phase of a parasite
You're the reason I got interested in goldfish, and I'm a full and full cichlid person. I love goldfish now and couldn't imagine my fish room without them. You're an inspiration to me and many others. Don't give up, Jenny, all fish keepers go through some kinda cataclysmic crap like this- its like an occupational hazard when you keep so many fish.

So harsh... What about extensive water testing? The parasite could come from your water source directly... No? Or some kind of heavy metal contamination. This would explain the discus situation. Since you recently moved houses it could be related...
I wonder if there is a connection with the plastic pools youre using? Some plastics have been know to be toxic???
fish might be more sensitive in the sense of chemical like plastic... a lot of the time fish can die easily in newer plastic pools, plastic tank.... maybe they feel dizzy as well...

I feel so sorry for you and your fish and I fully understand your sad situation. Some people might say that they were just fish but these people really have no idea.

I'm really sorry about your goldfish. You really need to burn, throw out and get rid of everything those fish ever touched to prevent the pathogen affecting your new fish.
Did you have your water analysed? Perhaps there was some sort of trace element in the water that you weren't aware of damaging their kidneys?
I recall my grandfather telling me that there was an issue in birmingham back in the 60's where it was found there was a lot of cyanide in the water? Just a thought...

I recently lost my betta and hadn't realized how attached I had become with him. He just didn't seem well when I got him and I tried numerous different things to make him "better" and I think a few of them worked, but by that time, I think his body had just gotten too worn out. I am so sorry for your loss! I can tell just by how you talk about your fish that you cared for them and that is the most important thing!
Didn’t you say you used well water? That’s the perfect place to get naturally occurring parasites.

It's either the water, the temperature, the food, or the tubs releasing toxins in the water. It can't be genetics cause so many fish are suffering from this. Just my thoughts
I wish every fish and every pet in our world, could end up with a human being such as yourself. This was a heartbreaking story, so SO sorry for your loss.
I'm so sorry Jenny, that really really sucks :( All that work and heartache and no closure. I think a few weeks away from goldfish will be good though. It gives you time to re-calibrate and figure out where you want to go with the hobby, and will also let you distance yourself a little from this tragedy so you can actually be excited for new fish instead of just nervous. In the meantime, we mourn those who left too soon.
What about test your water you're using.
Perhaps they were not introduced through any of the fish you added at all!. Have you had your well water tested? What if there was the possibility that; you would not have been able to stop it, as more microscopic parasites were introduced during every water change! The same water you would cook and bathe with............
Thank You for allowing all of us inside this excruciating experience. We all need to realize that keeping fish may also mean keeping the very things that kill them. We're all just clumsy & sometimes clueless humans trying to fully enjoy our hobby and life, but the more we learn and endure, the more we can share and CARE!
