- I had a firewood mission that was gonna require me to setup my triaxle dump truck for hauling firewood and I would need the Eastonmade Axis, Artillian grapple and John Deere 755, plus I'd be using my backhoe wood splitter to get this job done!
Drone shots are beautiful. Your property from the drone is so organized. As we know, organization is the key to success. 😀😀😀
Is that where I'm messing up?
YES the drone shots are amazing!!
Don’t overlook the gentleman stacking the loader bucket!!
I was hoping he’d do that and was not surprised when he did it 👍 filled the bucket at the end ! Impressive
Your wood splitter table is very cool, but the wood splitting back hoe attachment may be the coolest thing I’ve seen in a long time. I’d love to have seen the build on that convenient monster.

Thanks Eric. I have several videos with it and the story behind building it.
@@digdrivediy I’ll have to look those up. I’m getting closer to having my JD310 running. I spent $1200 on 10 hydraulic hoses last week. They were all sun burnt and dry rotted.
Pond turned out beautifully Neil! Happy Holidays to family.
I always like seeing the homemade backhoe splitter
I'm diggin the truck. Looks like a nice rig.
As far as I’m concerned you already justified that nice lorry when you picked up that big load of wood from the sawmill. All the best from England, keep on logging .
Dude, you are the king of firewood… I would kill for your setup.
Just another cool video from DDD. Greetings from Australia
Best thing about this video...
How eager, willing and able you were to help a "neighbor" like that... even though you got some fire wood out of it... 😊😊😊 I truly wish that there were more people like you in this world... You've got a heart a gold!!!
I was thinking the same. Sure- he got an entire tree worth of firewood, and to some people that’s a huge value. But to get it he needed a backhoe, dump truck, trailer, wood splitter, vehicle insurance, multiple vehicle registrations, big chain saws, lots of fuel, etc etc. I couldn’t help but to think how much this job actually cost him- and would your typical neighbor be able to afford to pay even the cost he put into it? Talk about a real gift… Even if he charges for these sorts of services- what a legend to have around!
@@deemstyle And it took over 7 hours on day 2... who knows how long he was there on the first day!!!
He's always helping people in his videos... Such a rarity these days...I love how his father (and other family members) gets in on the action... he's adorable...
@@mymonkey10 absolutely!
You folks are too kind. I didn't charge him anything. Just got the wood. Thanks for watching!
@@digdrivediy You, sir, are the kind one!!! More people need to learn from your example!!! You set the bar high...
Every time the pay loader bucket bangs the dump truck bed an angel gets their wings.
Drone shots were perfect. Makes your huge rig/load and huge compound look attainable. Sort of like looking at a picture of the earth from space. Lol
That looked like it was a lot of work but very fun. I loved the yard sweeper at the end. Cheers.
Seriously impressive and simple design on that backhoe splitter. Well done
Smartly done. Enjoyed this one but I enjoy all your content.
Thank you for taking us along on the journey.
That was a great video.
I used to drive a rig like that.
I had a great time.
I was in my early 20's
This last week I turned 64 years young.
Merry Christmas 🎁🎄
God bless you and your family and keep you safe.❤😊
I drove an L8000 tri-axle when I was in my 20's also. I guess I just don't want to grow up :)
L8000 driver here with the split rear and a l9000 with the Cummins 350 big cam. What a difference between the two
I'd say mission complete, you have a great firewood set-up now! 👍
Neil Thank you for showing that know how and hard work are cool.
Neil… did you ever notice that people who sell firewood only have split wood in their stacks? I always wondered… What do they do with all the pole wood?
I burn anything larger than my wrist… in fact… pole wood burns longer… kind of like knotty splits. It is great for extending burns when mixed with splits over a bed of coals.
I’m thinking your line-up is pretty complete. The chainsaw, grapple, backhoe splitter and bucket are perfect for getting the wood to the Axiis. The bucket on the backhoe and dump truck are well matched… and work well for getting the wood from the splitter to the woodshed.
Two trips out and two trips back to haul it all ain’t bad considering how much liniment it replaces… all-in-all, I think your pretty well set.
Neighbor Mike and I are working on a deal to upgrade our wood processing. He found an old 12’ chain conveyor at a farm nearby. The farmer wants to trade it for a little welding work. Mike can weld… and I can refurbish the conveyor. We’re gonna pull the trigger after Christmas.
We think it’ll work great for getting the wood from Frankensplitter to the dump trailer…. The only thing we haven’t figured out yet is… where are we gonna get a dump trailer???
Ahhh, the March of Progress. If a feller ain’t improving his wood processing operation… age and the rising cost of liniment will pretty much put him out of business!
I’m glad to see your progress is working out splendidly.
A dump trailer would suit you all too well Dave! I've often daydream about putting a dump trailer to work and think it would be the perfect companion for the compact tractor. I think you'd better ask for one for Christmas!
There is a neighbor here that has an elevator sitting out for sale as well. I've been trying to figure out a way that I could justify that as well. I'll be interested in seeing your new setup when it's all done for the inspiration!
Have a great week!
I laughed out loud at you talking to you, just because it was so unexpected!
Always love your videos
Those Milwaukee M18 1/2 impacts on the high setting are no joke! They'll torque your arm off if you're not careful.
You earned every bit of that wood. But the memories and adventures we will tell the stories for a life time and more.
That's a good one Neil. Back to the old days of projects and great editing!
One of my favorite moments was hearing the 755 crank and start, off-screen. The sound of the 3 cylinder Yanmar is unmistakable, and a sentimental favorite.
Well that was an easy justification for the dump truck😅
Great load of scrap wood, it'll work just as well as any other wood.
Sure is nice to have a backup, stay warm folks.
Do I split wood away from home often? No. Do I want a triaxle to fill with firewood to see it dump? Heck yeah! Nice set up Neil. You’ll have it fine tuned the way you want it in no time
I just love seeing a 755 (any of the #55’s) at work - hands downs one of the greatest Deere designs!
Couldn't agree more!
As an engineer at Milwaukee Tool, thanks for your business, glad they work well!
They work great and I appreciate your work on these fantastic tools! Now, just have someone from marketing give me a call! :)
Saying Hi From Rhode Island . That attachment on the backhoe is perfect 👍 great design .the hole operation is a 10
Hello Rhode Island! Neil made that attachment years ago and it has saved countless hours of back-breaking labor. Thank you for your nice comment. ❤ We'd love to back there some day.
Nice, it is nice to have the equipment to do the job. Great job.
I'm in my 70s now and live in a city. I have never run a chain saw. Your video looked like fun and hard work. It was fun to watch and have a little satisfied envy. Blessings to you and your family at the holiday season 🙏
I appreciated the bloopers. Another great video.
All the gear and the idea. Great content as always 😊
The camera work alone is an A+. Just as hard as all the wood work.
Having all those "big boy toys" sure makes this task a lot easier. Loved coming along for the ride. 👍
Great Looking Set up you have there 👌🏽👌🏽
Great video. Really like the bloopers at the end.😂
at the point where you sped up the filming, I looked in the background, and watched the clouds just scudding across the Indiana countryside. It was truly a beuatiful thing to see. Having said that, I cannot tell you how many times I have driven the Ind (and Ohio, and Pa) Turnpikes, and thought "how utterly boring is this ride!" Ohio AND Indiana, all you see is corn, corn, and a skoshe more of corn. As always, thank you for sharing!
His part of the state is pretty flat. South central Indiana is hilly and beautiful.
Wow- that’s definitely the nicest wood splitter I’ve ever seen! I was really impressed- and then you pulled out that gas powered… “thing” at the end that pushed all the yard dirt away! Now you’re just flexing…. Hahaha!! So rad!! I really enjoyed that video.
Good load, great drone shots!!👍🇺🇸
I love the way you have a tool for everything
I love Louie. What an absolute unit.
Oh yeah.
I started watching your channel because you had a GMC General. My father who is 86 worked in the General Motors plant in Pontiac, Michigan where the General and Astro 95’s were built. He worked in quality control. I like all of the toys you have.
That's awesome!
Beautiful Louisville truck, awesome backhoe splitter, and add the Axis and grapple....Ohio Wood Burner is lucky you live so far away!😊
Thanks for not disappointing with the opening shot. Was hoping to see how the pond is looking … great by the way!
Love that you are honest about life & these videos instead of being all WranglerStar about things. Keep it up!
Neil: Who's doing the fancy dronework? Very nice.
That "Hungry Hippo" attachment for the hoe is AWESOME! I love homemade tools!
Ya done good brother. Just gotta have a little more faith in your equipment. A 20 yard bed should be more than ample to haul the river rock Kara wants for her custom fireplace. Thought I forgot or let that one go huh? Love home and just being you is a damn good thing!
Very entertaining, don't really know why, thanks for your work!😊
Whew that squeeze of the dump between the buildings had me sweattin'! I sure hope to never see a video of, "How the roof was LIFTED off my building! 🤦♂️"
Great video
Start the week with another enjoyable 20 minutes.
Have a good week
That dump truck is awesome. Such a beautiful and organized farm!
“We can make a B roll at the end, blooper roll, I can’t even say that. “ 😂 great update on that rig, looks like it will be a good fit!
Really great video. It’s always surprising to see what you are up to! I could tell when you got home you felt really good about ALL the hard work that it took to make this log video + all the winter wood you have now!
Excellent job.
I know your family is proud.🚜
Thanks so much!
Your drone views are always so good. I keep wanting to get one but I have always had 10 unrelated thumbs.
I put the broom bristles on my Stihl sweep. It works great on that stuff that gets caked on the garage floor during the winter.
Oh that's a great idea! I've never had the bristles but now I wanna try!
It's a wonderful day when things come together like you planned. I do like that you showed the work it takes to tie-down the back hoe for towing and stopping to check your clearances for towing the trailer.. Those are the small things that eat up time on a workday that few city folks (like myself) have any appreciation for. You are educating people in ways that might not be obvious but they do come through loud and clear. Great job!
Thank you so much!
That land to and from is beautiful! Especially the time of day, you nailed the shot! The two loads you got is a butt load, but the decomposition that came out of your first split with the backhoe was priceless! Can you imagine the value of two loads of that? All I have here in Missouri is Clay that is about like concrete. Success 100% and the top board was barely noticeable.
Love the new rig setup. Looks great moving down the road.
Beautiful farm land in your entire area. Your attention to detail is inspirational. I always enjoy a new video when it comes out.
'Get er Done" Neil! There never was a doubt. Love that Brutus. (Oops! I meant Louie) Waiting for the hockey game on the pond. :)
You’ve reached your goal again. I don’t need a dump truck but it would be really neat to have one. No to mention the other cool pieces of equipment. I’ve on the pond you say, burrrrr.
Wow , That was a full load . About all you had left for room was the passenger side inside the cab . Must have felt satisfying .
Yes! And that's where I had my saw! :)
Finally I get to see a video that is up to date! It is always a great joy of mine to look at your videos and enjoy the content.... you have get to be MacGyver of CZcams! GREAT VIDEO as usual! Keep them coming!
Damn right he’s MacGyver straight outa Indiana Canada!
I appreciate it Aaron!
@@digdrivediy yes indeed!
Heck of a setup.
consistently my fave YT channel!
I have been patiently waiting for a good firewood video! You have the ultimate firewood setup! I am still going to find time to build a splitter for my backhoe or mini ex very similar to what you have. I do have one for my skidsteer but it makes a mess in places i dont want it too. Great video neil! I love firewood season
Thanks so much! I'm so grateful for my firewood viewers since it is a good part of my winter routine. I actually enjoy firewood although some people find it hard to believe that there could be any enjoyment in it.
@digdrivediy I find firewood very enjoyable! My wife thinks I'm crazy but I always tell her that this gym membership cost me nothing other than a little fuel!
Always a pleasure to watch your videos.
Also, the truck might need flames on the hood 😉🔥
Beautiful countryside from the drone shots Neil.
Those outakes became intakes after all.
Video creativity getting better every video.
Outstanding video Neil. You have an awesome setup for firewood. I like your Tri axle truck and 310. Backhoes for the win!
I really enjoyed this weeks video. I always get inspired after watching! Love the different angles and camera shots, gafs, etc. kept me alert the whole video!👍💚👌
That truck handles the hills great ! Next will be a tractor trailer with a walking floor trailer
Suggestion for you, flip the upper section of the tarp arms on the truck so the bend is going the other direction. This will allow the arms to come down lower in the untarped position making it much harder to hit the tarp arms while loading.
Thanks I will look into that!
Great video Neil. You can get a toung extension for the pintal eye on the trailer it will help with the turning to keep more clearance.
We have them on several trailers at work they are cast steel and a little over a foot long. Hoosier Truck and Trailer may have them if not they can probably find one.And they bolt on to the front of the tongue so if you get a different trailer it can be sawaped
Oh very nice idea! Thanks so much for the tip!
I hope you dump the next splits out a ways from that tight fit. Maybe on some plywood. Then push it to your stack. Maybe build a dump area with short strong walls to push a load into the front bucket.
I wonder if a metal detector would find nails in old trees.
I really like your backhoe thumb splitter.
I really appreciate a covered load. Motorcycles & rocks or cinder blocks or even silage don't mix.
I love to see other peoples firewood processing. Always gives me ideas for improvement. Thanks.
You always make me wish I was 20 years younger 😂. But you motivated me to keep trying. Thank you for sharing ❤ love and blessing’s to you and your family 😇
That's exactly what I was thinking while watching this. I miss my days of being self employed. How many people can say they miss getting up and going to work?
what about getting a hitch riser for your 750?
I'll have to look into something.
Wow that was a long day you got a lot done ..That paddle wheel on the string trimmer works slick as snot ....Trying to get the boss to let me get one at work make clean up lot faster! Thanks for video Neil ....
Right on
I don't know how to describe how relaxing it is to watch your videos. We may be close in age (I'm 51) but I'm pretty sure we both grew up playing with Tonka trucks. My job is pretty boring for the most part (I work on fiber optic equipment to put it simplisticly) but I think a man's inner self wants to be working with his hands, which is what I do in my free time. I started following your channel during the creation of the pond, but watching you work with some of this equipment is just very satisfying. Makes a fella wish he was there to give you a hand.
I agree. I sit at a desk most days and wish I was outside working. I'm 47 and I feel this is my main method of getting exercise.
Nice work! Organized and efficient!
Thanks for the new idea on how to clean up all the wood chips out of my yard! Your videos are always satisfying to watch
Your best video yet Neil, Amazing.
Oh my GOSH!!! The production quality of this video is off the charts!!!
I’m so glad I have your channel to bring peace and quality workmanship to my life 🙌🏼
Thank you!
Six months without the pond?! Or, we hook up the wood stove to have a heated pond😂
Just build a sauna and hop in from there.
It never gets old watching both splitters do their thing. I volunteer to drive the 755 and backhoe next time, lol, I’ll drive out from Seattle. Very happy you have a much better firewood setup now.
Excellent aerial shots on the drive home Neil!
Nice work! Really like the L9000 and trailer set up.
Truly enjoy your videos! Louie is one nice looking truck. I can see why you purchased this year and model.
Hey Neil, such a joy to eat my breakfast watching you and your neighbor work away on the Maple. Also, liked that you have become a Millennial Farmer and edited out the boring really hard bits. Aero shots are sublime.
Now I gotta look up Millenial Farmer. As if I wasn’t wasting enough time😏
You would never see.Millennial Farmer.working.this hard. :)
Really good editing! Drone footage was awesome!!
Thanks!
Enjoy this video Neil and You Got very good IDEA how its work man .love it .
Nice video…really expanding your cinematic horizons!
You could move the wee shed Neil! Another project for the new year 😊 As always I really enjoyed your video
You have the tools to do the job. Your "neighbour" appreciated it. The cleanup was a great help to him. Have a Merry Christmas. 🎄 You might be saying, "Why did he put another tree in his comments?"
More firewood!
See, you really needed that truck!
Glad to see Louie earning it's keep, good job!
Neil, your toy selection is quite impressive.
I've never been able to get the Millennial Farmer method to work for me. Well done 😂
Very nice Niel. Looks like you have things almost the way you want them. The only thing now is the manual labor part 🤣. Take care my friend
Yeah! How do I get rid of that part? 😋
