Butch's loyalty to Fish was astounding. Even when she didn't necessarily treat him good, he still stuck by her.
Ah butch, everyone's favorite mob enforcer. It was sad to see him go at the end of season 4
The scene at 4:00, where butch has to kill his friend, I speculate that he apologized for the steaks he didnt share with him only because he was actually apologizing for having to kill him. He didnt want to make it all emotional and dramatic. He even went on to say "no... brothers dont do that. Why did I do that?" Even after the apology was accepted. Hinting to him he's a snake right under his nose. So cold but I suppose he saw it as the easiest way to go about it
Kinda reminds me of a scene from like The Sopranos or Goodfellas like it has that mafia style of like “I’m sorry but this is the way it is in this world.” Loved the show in general.
@@mikeyholland150 especially the Sopranos. Big pussy was a snitch. Tony hated that he had to kill him but he knew he had to. And the indirect behavior that the mafia always uses, like "I'm going to whack you, but you won't know it until it happens." That's why I take alot of interest in the propaganda of organized crime. Because the mafia did it in ways that most current crime organizations dont.

@@wesleykingfirethe first song was in the still of the night. Then after he shoots his friend it seems the song switches to a different one but I think the second one is something like “all in the wonderful game” just guessing though based on the lyrics
Rewatching this series, haven't seen it since season 3 ended. The scene at 3:55 is one of my favorites, it is very poetic, one of Butch's best scenes imo. The scene where Alfred, Bruce, and Richie discuss things over wine during a thunderstorm is amazing too. I forgot how good season 1 is!
I love this scene too. Honestly would be cool to have a spinoff about the mob/ crime bosses in gotham.

Drew Powell was fantastic as Butch Gilzen; before he was revealed to be Cyrus Gold, I would always tell whoever'd listen that he is my favorite Gotham-original character ^^
I've always had a soft spot for villains who have a good relationship with their n°1 enforcer, so the Fish/Butch duo was right up my alley.
And even if they had a rocky start, and a rockier ending, when things were good, Penguin/Butch was also pretty good...
*Gotham* wasn't a perfect show by any means, but I enjoyed how even the side-characters (most of them at least) had personalities and their own storylines...
And speaking of Drew Powell, there's a fun video that must be a couple months old from Vee Infuso, in which he asked some actors if they preferred Jérôme or Jeremiah Velaska, and Mr Powell's segment was really cool.
I know, sounds like a commercial =) but it's just a small channel that I enjoy, and it has a lot of *Gotham* content.
There are other DC live actions shows right now that are great, like *Stargirl* , or *Superman & Lois* , which is _the_ show that is really redeeming the Arrowverse now... and *Titans* season 3 is apparently going to be awesome ^_^
(and I'm super pumped about that upcoming Peacemaker show with Vigilante in it, it has so much potential; I really enjoy this new Peacemaker that we're getting in Suicide Squad and Future State, now that Deadshot is dead the new really needed a new leader)
But more than anything else, I hope that rumored new Gotham show will materialize, and be *GOOD* ...
Butch loved Fish. Just saw the trailer for Titans S3, got suicide squads Joker in it. Should be good

I love the dialogue between Butch and the two truckers when he gives em a choice of a beating or a bullet😂 and the scene with butch in the car with his friend just felt like a classic gangster scene especially with the older style song playing on the radio

I know the whole Solomon Grundy arc was a decision made years after Season 1 was done.
But I think it would be cool if when it’s just them alone Jimmy Saviano called him “Cy” and nobody knew why. Because he was the only one who knew who he *really was*
