The most heart breaking thing in this entire series is that the final scene in this video where Maroni reveals to Getrud that Oswald is a crime boss and she has to listen to Oswald lie again is the last conversation she has with him before she dies. I mean for all his faults Sal never went after Getrud. So Maroni at least had more honour than Galavan.
I love Gertrude, she is eccentric but a great character. Oswald is her only child so she dotes on him and she is the only family he has. (I must admit when she washes him in the bath is a bit awkward scene, if my mum walked in when I was in the bath I would be embarrassed, so would mum and she would apologise and leave)

Even though Oswald did bad things to the people of Gotham his parents never stopped loving him even though they lied to him about his life
I always feel so bad for his mother while watching this scene with Maroni and the scene in her house after. She trully wants to believe her son is just a club owner, even tho she fully understands it is a lie.

Gertrude is such a creepy obsessive mother. She's painted as a victim since that thing happened regarding the character (it's a spoiler for season 2) but she's pretty controlling and obsessive. Yes that's intentional but only one person in the comments sees it. I have no problem with bad people as characters unless people overlook all their flaws like Rick Sanchez

I really like how *Gotham* was able to make a character non-cis (Oswald being sort of aromantic/asexual at the start, if we believe his "I don't even date" comment, and him being a virgin and all... and later bisexual, falling in love with Nygma, and then having a crush on Sofia) and not make it his main character trait.
It's not even brought up that often...
There are sooooo many shows were the LGBTQ's token character's sexuality is his main feature, the character is gay first and then a hero/villain...
Barbara Kean, Fish Mooney and Tabitha "Tigress" Galavan were good examples;
Renée Montoya too but she was only in season 1...
(well, and now in *Batwoman* season 3, same actress in same role and all, but with Black Mask gone I have now zero interest in keeping on watching that show, so... too bad)

Anyway, I'm just some cis-male so I might be off the mark, but I thought that it was a good show for ideal LGBTQ representation, with non-cis characters who can *actually* go a full episode without pointing out that they're gay or whatever.

Stacy Harris yes she is abusive and I doubt she cares, I don't think she's as nice as we think. Actress did phenomenal. Great character and glad someone sees she's not innocent at all
honestly im unsure if this was ever confirmed but it appears to be implied that she is not mentally there and keeps trying to shelter her son from the real world to live in her fantasy of “everything is okay because im here” still treating him like a young child and what not, something like pre-dementia or psychosis? (bear with me im still very newborn in the study of psychology)
despite the fact, (and by the scene where he literally murders someone in front of her) she knows deep down her son is a criminal and far beyond her sheltered made up world, but for her own sake she never accepts this and gives into the lies, but she did truly love her son, i am just unsure if he had fully admitted his criminal activity to her instead of lying would she have accepted and understood him like Elijah van dahl did?
I'm pretty sure shes mentally stuck in oswalds childhood years cause she says stuff like someone is "being mean to my boy" and he's getting bullied even tho hes in his 30s.
