    My Check Engine Light came on after I was trying to get the Speed limiter feature to work (spoiler alert- when you have smart cruise control, there is no such feature - at least in the USA, which is fine by me.)
    The light fixed itself after turning the car off and restarting a couple of times.
    It did not like my holding the Resume button for a few seconds with the cruise control turned OFF.

    I recently bought a E220d and the engine management light has come on yesterday. I checked the code with my Obd scanner and its come back as "Communication lost with Nox B sensor"
    It's apparently a common fault with these cars. Iv still got warranty on the car and I'm hoping the garage will fix it for me. I've done some research and them Nox sensor are about £500. 😯

    • @ReviveMyRide
      @ReviveMyRide  Před rokem +2

      @meahmeah2279 Honestly, don't get me started about it! Mine were all replaced under warranty by the previous owner and then failed again for me! On a 2018 car! There is definitely a hug problem here! BTW, a lot of these components are on back order. You will need to really push for them to do it under warranty but there is no way this is a "consumable wear and tear part at this age and mileage" Good luck with it! Thanks, Phil

      @@ReviveMyRide thanks for the reply, I've recently bought mine, it's a 2017 E220d. Today it's showing up on the display "start engine see owners manual" so that must mean the battery is on its way out. I wonder if that could be the reason the engine management light is on and showing the Nox sensor on the OBD scanner. I'm going to fit a new battery tomorrow and see what happens. I bought a Mercedes thinking it's going to be a reliable car and now I'm spending money on it already. I really don't have any luck with cars. I've only driven it 1,000 miles. 😢🤦‍♂️

    • @ReviveMyRide
      @ReviveMyRide  Před rokem +1

      @meahmeah2279 Yep, I had the same thing with my Mercedes. Was assuming next to no problems with these cars and then I had both issues that you have mentioned. New battery should fix the "Start engine" warning but I doubt it will fix the CEL. Regarding the NOX sensors, this is just my experience: Mine were replaced under warranty by the previous owner (it was about £1k worth of work), then they failed again for me, no longer covered by warranty and this is on a 2018 car. A lot of these sensors are out of stock with Mercedes because they are having so many problems. It was a difficult decision but I decided to have the Nox sensors "mapped out" because having failed twice in 4yrs, the NOX system appears to be not fit for purpose. If you are interested in this, look for recommendations for reviews for Mercedes tuners / mappers near you on google and then give a few a call. Hope that helps, Phil

    I put in add blue and then it said add blue level cannot be checked. Engine management light is on. Any idea what this could be ??

    • @ReviveMyRide
      @ReviveMyRide  Před rokem +1

      It sounds like your adblue level sensor or pump has stopped working. Here is a post about it on a Mercedes forum which will give you some more information: forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/index.php?threads/adblue-not-reading-level.188057/ What I will say (and I don't mean to worry you!) is that the entire adblue system is a bit of a nightmare and prone to sporadic faults. I think MB rushed it in to meet an emissions deadline. Because some owners feel the system is not fit for purpose and extortionately expensive to have repaired (only to subsequently fail again), they actually have it "mapped out" and disconnected. Any reputable Mercedes tuning specialist can do this. Not everyone agrees with this approach but I can see it both ways. Hope that helps, thanks, Phil

    I erased it and now after a week it has not reappeared.
    Do u think the fault code was just activated due to lack of fuel and that there us nothing wrong with crankcase sensor ???

      Hi @arnietwo11 I’ve never come across the CEL coming on from a fail to start before but surely it can’t be a coincidence! Engine light on my A class 180d how do I go about getting it away

    • @ReviveMyRide
      @ReviveMyRide  Před rokem

      Hi @ferdiamckenna8593 as shown in the video sometimes the engine light is caused by a momentary "blip" from a sensor and if you are lucky, you can clear it and it will stay away. This is definitely worth a try as a first step. However, if the light comes back on or won't clear, you have to read the code to see what the problem is. Then, you need to fix the problem (or have it fixed) and finally, once the issue is resolved, you can clear the code. The code reader I used in this video for that is called a NexPeak NX-501 and you can find it here: UK Link: amzn.to/3DGRDU2 USA Link: amzn.to/3NkNw36 Hope that helps! Thanks, Phil

      @ReviveMyRide  Před rokem

      Hi @paulnunn8185 yes, unfortunately, it came back on. On my car, It is one of the Nox sensors that is out of range. I’m afraid you only really have two choices to sort it out: 1) Get it checked by someone that has Star or Xentry fault diagnosis, just to ensure it is fully understood exactly what is wrong (just the sensor, or maybe more). The problem with this option is sensors are currently out of stock, so you could be waiting a while and the repair is expensive and may just reoccur (it turns out that on my 2018 car, they have already been replaced once on warranty but Mercedes aren’t offering to do it again). 2) You can have an Adblue delete carried out at a Mercedes tuning company that disables the system. It will still pass MOT but potentially your Nox emission levels will be slightly higher than before. I hope that helps! Thanks, Phil

      Hi @AkaniNkanyani-uc1kz hopefully it isn't too serious. Now what you need (if you don't already have one) is a fault code reader (in the video I use an Nexpeak NX501 amzn.to/3DGRDU2 ) so that you can do a reset and check to see what the fault is, as shown at 02:20 in the video. It is worth trying to reset the Check Engine Light first and see if it comes back again but if it does come back on, then there is probably something that needs to be fixed. Thanks, Phil

    To all of you folks saying that BMW and Mercedes is now crap, it's your own fault. Me and my family have owned several, and reliability is yours only if you trust the process!! Always exceed manufacturers recommended service intervals, and always go to the dealership or a German car certified expert for maintenance. I've never had to do any unexpected services or had any operational failures from my German cars. If you spend the money to buy one, then spend the money to maintain it! No one ever promised that a sophisticated performance vehicle would be maintenance free. You people who buy Toyota, Honda, Kia, etc., just want to put gas in it and forget about the car care.
