    3:07 You can also release the "Hold" by tapping again the brake and honestly it is better to do so because by pressing the accelerator it will start moving the car forward with a small "bump" (due to the force needed to overcome the brake hold) while by tapping the brake it will start moving slower but smoother.

    Nick. Great videos and information. Couple questions on navigation. Is there a way to have the navigation system "accept" the use of toll roads? The past few trips, the navigation system avoids the use of toll roads and provides/maps a different route...sometimes resulting in a considerable longer drive. When I do ignore the guidance and enter a toll road system, I get a pop up window asking if I want to really use the toll road. I have looked but cannot find a function within the navigation system setup to "use/accept" toll roads. Almost all navigation apps provide that setup option. The other question...how do I increase the volume of MBUX navigation "voice" instructions. Thank you again Nick.

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Stan! Thank you! Glad you’re enjoying the videos!
      It should be on by default but you can check it (for MBUX) on the screen:
      HOME
      NAVIGATION
      SETTINGS (one with the cogs)
      ADVANCED
      ROUTE
      AVOID OPTIONS
      TOLL ROADS
      And also adjusting the voice is like other cars, just adjust the volume only when it talks back to you and it’ll change the voice only 👍🏼

    • @stankays704
      @stankays704 Před 2 lety

      @@npoleary Found it. Toll roads were "not" selected to be avoided, but there was one item under toll roads that that marked "avoid". I changed that to "Use". Thanks again Nick. OH! One other question. On the way home and on the freeway/major highway, my Blind Spot sensor inoperative and braking assist not fully functional warning s popped up on the MBUX driver's side screen. I went into systems settings and these items were "greyed" out...unable to turn them on or off. Got home, turned off the car and turned it back on and warnings came up again. That was Thursday. This morning started car to pull it out to wash and no warnings plus under systems, these items were no longer greyed out. ????? After washing pulled it into the garage and only had one small object warning screen/camera rather than small on left and larger on right of main MBUX screen. Appt made with my dealer. Any ideas greatly appreciated. Thank you again

    The hold function was implemented in or before 2014. I knew it from a 2014 C300 commercial. Mercedes hold function is much better than other manufacturers’ hold. With Mercedes you can decide each time when you stop if you want to hold just using your foot. Natural. But most other brands assign a button for it you have to press/pull to engage or disengage. It’s very frustrating when you need it for one sec and then you stop a second time but you don’t need it (parking), but it holds itself again.

      @npoleary  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Thank you! 🙏 glad you enjoy them! Got some more stuff planned soon!
      Some models do, depends on the model that you have. If it has MBUX NTG 6 then most of the time each profile has 3 memory settings. So select your profile then you have your own memory settings for each one.
      MBUX NTG 7, when you load your profile up, it changes the seat automatically.
      MBUX NTG 6 has wavey lines for the voice assistant and MBUX NTG 7 has sparkles for the voice assistant (how you can easily tell the difference).

      Hey! Sadly I only started my CZcams channel in 2020 part time but now do it full time. I’ve not ever sat in one of that year so wouldn’t know if it can be adjusted. I thought the bulk of Mercedes Ambient Lighting adjustments and things kind of came out around 2014 with a few models allowing adjustment and the colour etc.
      Might be worth getting in touch with them and see if they can advise although I’m not sure they can modify anything via their OBD ports.

    Hi Nick
    Thank you very much for some very helpful instructions. I have just received my new E400D and I have an issue with MBUX voice command system which I was hoping you could help me with? I live in Denmark and the issue that I have is that the voice command system only comes in either English or German. The system is therefore useless when it comes to recognising Danish names (persons or streets). Then I watched your tip regarding assigning family members to “Hey Mercedes” and thought that was a way for me to at least be able to use the voice command system for my contacts. But, I then realised that my car does not have this functionality :-(. However, in the same menu it does come with the functionality “Add voice tag” and I thought that this would work in a similar way (e.g. recording the word “brother” as voice tag would mean that I could call my brother by saying “call my brother” to “Hey Mercedes”). However, it does not seem to work and I cannot find any instructions on what “Add voice tag” does, not in the manual and not online. The big question I was hoping you could help me with is therefore if adding a voice tag can help me with my language challenge, i.e. what does a “voice tag” do and how does it work?

      @npoleary  Před 2 lety

      Hey Martin, no worries glad you enjoyed the videos!
      Really sorry I’m not sure I’ll be able to assist as MBUX varies massively round the world so there may be different features etc
      The voice tag in the UK is to assign a name for the voice assistant to read out so if it was reading out incorrectly, you can give it a custom name.

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  Před 2 lety +2

      I wish it was full screen too but there are other manufacturers who have come across the same issue before.
      The reason is because MBUX is available in two screen sizes, 7” & 10.25”. When designing and coding I’m led to believe that you can only choose one (to maintain compatibility) for everything. So to make sure it works on all models, Mercedes of course had to go with the 7” version, which is perfect for 7” owners but of course leads to a cropped experience if you have a 10.25” screen.
      Fingers crossed that future models have a workaround for this 🤞🏼

      @@npoleary Thank you. Yes I totally agree and understand. Mercedes Benz doesnt manufacture its own tires.
      One of the topics that could assist is an average or estimated time to change tires(This is relative question since its also dependent on each driver) - My model is using Bridgestone, the car has about 37000km on it and the dealerships say tires need to be changed every 20000km some say every 40000km and tyre manufactures say a different figure
      Secondly with the technology that our cars have. Surely there should be a way of seeing when a car's tyres are installed or removed. Like a log sheet or report on tyres.
      So just the understanding on the technology around the car and the tyres. There's already some good online videos on tyres pressures but none on what Mercedes has installed.
