Honestly, it's mostly rich novice climbers who want that bragging right. They just figure a Sherpa will hoist them over the peak, like that MTV woman, who cost time and lives that day in 1996. NO ONE should be approved unless an notably experienced climber.

the route that they take is not that difficult.
However,
there are at least two unclimbed routes.
Go try those-
I guarantee that you will have no problem with crowds or trash.

but no one will get in your way.

I hate to say it but just like worst tippers I can only imagine the horrid behavior of all these rich people not caring about others; for example, not allowing people to pass waiting 2 hours on them. Holy ridiculous. Somehow something needs to be done to allow true climbers who don’t have money just for bragging rights. They should have their own path. I can just imagine the bratty screw you behaviors by so many. To hold up tens upon tens of people for 2 hours not letting them pass 😳😳😳that’s all I need to know. It’s deadly and these people should have to be held accountable period.
