    Josko Gvardiol is among the highest-rated young centre-backs in world football, so treble-winning Manchester City would be interested in signing him. But he plays in the same position as Nathan Ake.
    JJ Bull explains just how good Gvardiol is, and how Pep Guardiola will likely use the young Croatian international.

    Hot take: we all know guardiola does something completely unexpected each season. I think with gvardiols crazy versatility he won’t only play along the back 4/3, he will also serve as a backup to Rodri so he can get rest since it seems obvious Phillips can’t seem to fill that role. I think we’ll see gvardiol at cb, lb, and cdm this year. With 1 player pep now has the ability to cycle ake, Diaz, Rodri and stones.

    • @darynmiller5151
      @darynmiller5151 Před 9 měsíci +2

      @@sukulbembe4657 I agree with you that players in peps system look much better year 2, but so far in preseason Phillips has still looked like trash. The other side to that is that even if Phillips finds his form and plays great I don’t think the 6 role suits him that well. I actually think the gundogan role is best suited to its skill set. The time when Phillips looked best was probably the last euros on the England team. In that role he was paired along side Declan rice. Declan rice was the defensive stalwart and Phillips would help in defense but really shined in the transition phase of the game and distributing the ball in offensive end. I think that role is most closely mirrored by gundogans role in previous city sides. So even if he does find form I don’t think the 6 is the best position for him.
