    I've never understood Honor build guides that have gear recommendations literally right at the end of the game considering most of Act 1 and 2 will be struggle regardless.
    There should be builds per act, with gear that can be obtained as soon as you enter the act and going forward recommending which quests to do in order to maximize your damage and build potential.

      Sadly these channels won’t post builds like that as that would not look anywhere near as cool as all the huge crits on every attack and it would actually require them to play an honor mode save

      It’s nice for showcasing the maximum potential of a build, but yea,, I agree it isn’t that helpful for the early game, especially since most of the run killers happen before you even reach the end of act 1 (for example, the paladins of Tyr, Grym, or literally any Gith fight). I guess there are other guides for that, but still

      None of these builds work for early levels. There are very few builds that come online earlier than level 8 in my experience. You are better off going pure one class until level 8 or so and then start looking at respecing into one of these fancy builds.

      Act 1 is full of high places. Just use gravity for tough fights. Act 2, just use a light cleric. Act 3 is where the fight are more difficult bc of certains legendary action. Use end game buils like the ones in the video...

      While I never loved advertising competitors in the interest of everyone's enjoyment of this wonderful game I will vouch for this Nizar fellow, he has some very nice 4 man comps that share minimal items and no essential ones
      Also, to help OP and anyone else reading this I will give this advice
      1)Consider what your builds do the same
      So for example relying on crits is rly hard to maximize on two characters due to many specific items with no replacement, same for relying on the same damage type like cold or fire and same for relying on the same fighting style like unarmed or heavy two handed, as long as you avoid having two crit builds, two with the same element, two cc casters or two unarmed/ranged attackers/dual wielders/two hand attackers you will probably be fine
      2)Consider what they do different that still complements each other, for example a lighting build has great synergy with a cold build as they both rely and profit off wet, a CC caster relies a lot on spreading conditions that give advantage to hit the target and even auto CRIT at times and a CRIT build like any type of paladin, bard, battle master, rogue profits off of that
      So different things that work well together and you usually got it!

      Splitting something into multiple parts is usually beneficial. It organises ideas and significantly boosts coherency.

      well, you don't NEED anything to have a good build, it's all relative, sometimes multiclassing is good, sometimes it's not, sometimes you need it, sometimes you don't, you can easily beat the game without it, you can easily get destroyed with it, it's just another thing you can do or not do

  • @luckyremains-tr
    @luckyremains-tr Před 3 měsíci +23

    If we're thinking about class synergy, the thrower doesn't need the callous glow ring, it's only +6 damage per turn with 3 attacks. It's better on the eldritch blaster. I also don't like using the knife of the underking on the blaster when you can use dual wield and use two staffs.
    Personally I think the actual strongest class in the game for honor mode is either the open hand monk or the bard6/assassin4/fighter2 hand crossbow sniper. Both are insane from beginning to end, and don't share any gear with anything else other than the underking knife. Giving the the party an extra short rest and getting 5 double attack per short rest is crazy. I killed raphael in one round from stealth with my killer bard without doing any unusual other than hold person from stealth (since rapheal can't be surprised, and assassins get full refunds of actions upon entering combat).

    • @bobnewkirk7003

      the other way to play the bard is Swords 6 + Assassin 3 + Fighter 3 using The Titanstring bow and Club of Giant strength (or just elixirs). From there you can pack on magic arrows and take advantage of the Ranged Flourish for some really stupid opening damage.
      If you wanted to get really sneaky you could also have someone run Pass Without Trace (or get the Ring of Shadows) and cast Greater Invis with the Elegant Studded Leather armor equipped; really takes the build to broken.

    • @FormerRuling
      @FormerRuling Před 2 měsíci

      I too prefer to use Titanstring and Hill giants (either club or potion) early on since that comes online early Act 1. The hand xbows gain more traction once you have multiple sources of rider damage available.

The two flat dmg from dueling already outshines the benefit from 1d8 (compared to 1d6), and the shield outhines +1AC from defense.......it a straight up buff with no downside you gave us here.

    I'm sort-of doing my variant of the Sorcadin, where I am going oathbreaker (dark urge) on a dragonborn, and taking Wild Magic Sorcery instead of Dragonblooded Sorcery on Honor Mode. My biggest reason for that is 1) Wild Magic will let me do what Friendship does anyways with the only repercussions being that I run the risk of a negative effect on me down the line, and 2) I have my husband playing an old character that he had in BG1 and 2 which dabbled into Necromancy. Which means that as soon as he starts summoning skeletons, they will benefit from my Aura of Hate (end point being 7 oathbreaker paladin and 5 wild magic sorcerer).
    The reason for choosing the Dragonborn is because it is the first class selected. I still changed that one around to be female and looking different (Predacious Crest, Fiery blue eyes that look like they were touched with ice, and that royal chin adornment, plus the second-to-last White selection), but otherwise it is still the same Race and sub-race.

      Great Weapon Master gives you an attack as a bonus action if you crit or kill in a turn. War Domain Cleric charges give you an extra attack as a bonus action. There's a set of gloves that let you cast a cantrip as a bonus action once per short rest (I think? Maybe long rest.).
      All I got off the top of my head.
      And I'd only say Thief 3 for those who will have too many bonus actions honestly. Some builds do just fine with the one bonus action.

    It took me 7 tries to beat honor mode. The first 6 I didn’t even get out of act 1.
    On the 7th run it was smooth sailing after act 1. I even sailed through Rafael’s fight which I was dreading.
    Tav- 6 theif/6 fighter duel weild. All finess, woodelf for lots of movement. Tons of ways to do lots of damage and take advantage of battle master superiority dice as well as sneak attack. As well as dexterity based armor
    Shadowheart- life cleric, sword and board with the deva mace
    Karlak- oath of the ancients sword and board with deva mace. For bonus heals and burst damage.
    Lae’zell- oath of ancients paladin. Sword and board with deva mace.
    For the tanks I made them all take sehild master and heavy armor master. They all had as much armor as possible.
    This got me to the end. No problem.
    Rafael hot tip: plan ahead to make this fight easy. Help that one devil in act two and he’ll join your side in act three. Then smuggle in as many smoke barrels as possible. When you arrive. Put at least two at each obisk or as many as you can muster. Then just detonate them when the fight starts to quickly deal with them. Also, tossing a globe of invunurinlity on Hope helps as she has great heals and skills to buff you all.

    Wood Elf Light Cleric is such a fun all round straight up level 12 build. I really has a bit of everything for all encounters and has a lot of items that work for many different ways to play the class. As much as I like the items you recommend it's hard to pass up on all the saving throw items you can get in act 1 and 2 and really focus on spirit guardians and using other spells while you jump/walk around enemies.
    One of the strongest Race/Class combo's. I'm going to use this to beat my Honour Mode run when I start. I think I might run almost everyone a straight up build, BM Lae'zel, Frenzy Karlach, then maybe have someone spec into rogue for the lockpicking and stealing while also being another class. Maybe Warlock/Rogue? Obviously as long as I have a good balance of melee, range and support I should be fine and I'm 100% abusing cheese for some bosses like Grym and throwing stuff down at the boss.

      This is going to depend on whether you want a 5th party member or not. By that I mean, do you mind leveling and specing a 4th companion that just sits at camp and buffs you in the morning. Some consider this too cheesy.
      Assuming not, I second the light cleric suggestion - just respec Shadowheart as soon as you get Withers. While healing still sucks like in 5e tt, the game added a bunch of healing support items - a lot of them in Act 1! That do stuff like give your whole party Bless for free when they are healed, and as showcased in the video by Act 2 they are a great team member on their own.
      The rest I would just worry about loot distribution. Don't make too many that want the same build defining pieces. Just make sure casters particularly are not hurting each other. Like if one wants to cover the ground in ice make sure all your melee can walk on ice and that other casters aren't using fireball lol

    Barbarian/monk or Paladin/monk is strong asf if you build it right, and I main it and love them cause ur basically a durable powerhouse.
    for paladin/monk u basically have great strength and power control so if someone knocks ur weapon out ur hands u still have bare hand abilities that can do some brutal damage while using holy power but for this build I use oathbreaker/monk
    For barbarian/monk only downfall about this build is you can’t use ur favorite heavy armors but ur extremely durable and when using rage with monk abilities it increases ur strength ALOT packing a lot of punk while in rage. But I would advise you using the way of the fist subclass for monk for obvious reasons. Sometimes I have a hard time deciding to be oathbreaker/monk or barbarian/monk

    In majority of 'best honour mode builds' I've seen Paladin and Cleric in some form and so these seem to be the best classes to go for. Think Paladin offers the damage and Cleric adds that support and versatility. People underestimate Cleric going for 4 characters that kick out damage, but they just don't build Light Cleric to full potential, imo. I've got to admit I like Monk as DPS character, Bard as CC and the survivability of Abjuration Wizard. Abjuration Wizard just gaurantees you have 1 character still alive

    For honor mode Burst damage is king; if you can put down the boss before their turn most encounters get trivialized. To that end I prefer SorLock (6/2/4), BardDin (2/10), Archer (Sword 6, Assassin 3, Gloom 3), and Either a Thrower (which I hate, but is undeniably strong) or a TB-OH monk (9/3). The gear overlaps a whole lot less than what the video showcases, though the Bhaalist armor is probably the best in the game. You can also run Tempest, but I'm not a fan of the full casters as they tend to eat up a ton of action economy and increase the need for rests.
    Personally I like the BardDin over the Sorcadain as the spell selection and slots are basically the same, but Bard bring way more utility including Song of Rest. Also expertise if you are not planning on running one of the many Thief 3 builds. I run mine GWM and Alert, but there is plenty of precedence for running it as a Dexdin (until you get the Buld GS)

    5:30 ok don’t get me wrong. This is helpful but I gotta point this out….
    Why double, triple and quadruple down on Eldrich blast… when scorching ray is straight up better?
    Eldrich blast with +7 charisma with the best stuff for it (no extra damage. Just stuff that helps its force damage) is 1d10 + 14. Which is 15-24 force damage per blast.
    Scorching ray with minimal investment (draconic sorcerer bloodline fire damage power up.) is 2d6 +7. Which makes it 9-19 fire damage per ray. But at base it fires 3 rays and with each upcast there’s another ray.
    Doing the math. 3 blasts deals in total. 45-72 damage. While 3 rays deal 27-57.
    Which turns to 36-76 when cast at 3rd level. 45-95 at 4th level. 54-114 at 5th level. And 63-133 at 6th level.
    And if you think that means nothing cause it’s fire damage. Not force damage.
    A lv 11 fighter with Ne’er misser deals 1d6 +6 from max possible dexterity, and +10 from marksman along with archer +2 deals 20-24 force damage three times. Which can be modified by the game’s consumable arrows.
    I apologize for making this comment be stupendously long, and I hope you enjoy your day after reading this.

    • @Madzongnez1
      @Madzongnez1 Před 3 měsíci +4

      The point is that Eldritch Blast is Cantrip, then it doesn't take any Spell slots, therefore you can't get short on Eldritch blasts, but you can cast like 6 Rays that are stronger than Eldirtch blasts, then you are weaker than with Eldritch Blasts. + Eldritch Blasts will take your prone enemies easly or at least blast them off.

    • @taznkid1730
      @taznkid1730 Před 3 měsíci +3

      I mean...you kinda low key pointed out many points yourself. For Ray to match damage, it has to be upcasted to 3rd level, 4+ to surpass it. And fire resistance is very relevant.
      The big thing for me is, if you add metamagic on top, you either
      A. Get like 2-3 metamagic for the day
      B. Burn through your spell slots
      Case example: say, in 1 fight, you cast 2 Scorching Ray, and once quickened. That is the equivalent of using all your 3rd level slots + 1 higher level In 1 fight. For the day. Ofc if you did not upcast, the damage is outright inferior.
      If we are talking just big damage numbers, sure, Scorching Ray is great. But sustainability and utility in a wide range of scenarios is just as important.

    • @Kusabiii
      @Kusabiii Před 3 měsíci +2

      I mean yeah... but you're comparing a cantrip with an upcasted spell. Scorching Ray will do more damage but you're spending 4-5-6th level spell slots to do so. Not to mention a lot of enemies are resistant or straight up immune to fire, making it very inconvenient for some fights.
      Eldritch Blast on the other hand requires no spell slots and has the added utility of pushing enemies, gets stronger as the game progresses, and has arguably the best damage type in the game (force).
