God, it's so great to hear people actually talk about Bore alignment with suppressors. Nobody ever talks about that. It's all let me be a cool guy and slap a suppressor on it makes me freaking Splinter Cell without knowing anything about regulating the gas, sub ammunition, or bore alignment

Would love to see this as a factory option

Try going with a surefire SOCOM muzzle brake w/t a surefire 7.62 RC
That's what I did. All my rifles utilize the same surefire SOCOM muzzle brake.

My standard M1A is so modified by me that using it in officially sanctioned service rifle matches would involve a bribe or outright ignoring the rules.
When I recently found that parts are available to mount a silencer on the M14 type,it greatly pleased me.

Smith enterprise has the set up for suppressed at $80..00 instead of $200. And u don’t need a set screw for the adapter with smith.

*it does have the set screw, uses factory location*

Question using subsonic ammo say if I use regular 308 ammo in it would it damage the silencer and at that point would it just suppress the flash.

I've seen this video and another one that you made regarding the Smith Enterprises gas lock and muzzle adapter. Can you help me understand why some folks use an adjustable gas plug and yet, Ron's system (gas "lock") does not require any type of adjustments to cut down on gas? Is needing an adjustable gas plug just bogus? Thanks much.

On the other hand it’s probably best to start short, otherwise you end up with a 4 foot long M1A

Is it necessary to use subsonic ammo with this?

    • @timjr260
      @timjr260 Před rokem +2

It's going to help with overall sound but it's not absolutely necessary, just make sure your suppressor can handle full velocity 308. If you hand load I'd suggest using a heavy bullet or less power for less chamber pressure and less velocity leading to less sound

They're available from various outifts like Fulton Armory & Smith Enterprises.

@@christinebonner2210 thank you for the reply, I was able to wrap a leather glove around my brake and put a wrench on it. It came off relatively easily after I cracked it loose

If you use subsonic .308 you might as well be shooting a 300 blk out

Get some friends to join you in an NFA trust to buy suppressors/silencers.
You still have the passport photo, fingerprints & tax stamp for each purchase but the trust is undergoing the background check.
Any trust member can possess the listed NFA items & should a member die or become ineligible to own such items, their name is easily removed & the items do not have to be destroyed or sold to another NFA holder.
