This is a monthly test of Floyd County's Weather Siren System that is tested the first Saturday of the Month at 12 Noon...which, when I arrived here was just a guess. Many surrounding municipalities (except Louisville, KY) test at that time, and since I was passing through I thought I might as well give it a shot. My doubts of this siren not going off were very high. Not only was I unsure of the schedule, but it was also very windy and cloudy. In addition, there was also a parade getting ready to begin just a couple blocks away. So when 12 Noon came around, I jumped.
This siren is located at the New Albany Fire Department downtown. I think it's only a year old too. Also, it's quite rare to see any type of Sentry in this part of the state where everything is usually Federal Signal territory. I knew they were getting new sirens, but I was almost certain whatever it was going to be would be either a Federal Signal 2001 or a 508. This came at a huge surprise.
Enjoy, and as always comment, like, and subscribe for more. Thanks!

That chopping sound sound good tbh
One time me and my mom we're on state street in New Albany and we were walking out of big lots and The 2001 siren went off. the siren was about 11 feet away from us and we ran inside the dollar tree. My mom said, "I think I'm deaf now!" I'm sensitive to loud noises and it pretty much hurt my ears. They were literally ringing. It was horrible!! 📢
I think I know which siren you're talking about, those 2001s can really scream.
I finally found the siren. We went through downtown and I looked over to the fire station and there it was. I was like that is so cool. I even heard it go off. It was My third time seeing a sentry siren but my first time hearing one go off!
Yep, they're really cool. Just weird that Floyd County got these instead of more 2001s. That area is Federal Signal territory for the most part.
my grandmother and I have driven by the fire Dept down there many times. I didn't see the siren. are there trees covering it up or something?
Is Sentry still in bussiness/production? Also, great and healthy sounding siren (TO ME)
Yup
Wait sentry sirens are still in production!!!
Brendan Spangler Yea, they have a website.
Sorry I barely see any kind of different siren I'm in 2001 central (Michigan) heck I had to travel an hour and a half just to see a thunderbolt 1000 for 1 minute (it only did short alert while the other county sirens did full alert) but I got a good vid from my phone
Does it have 2 separate choppers or something
Two separate motors...and choppers.
DSRX100 Cool
That sounds so weird why does it waver
1. What camera do you use?
2. What effect do you add to it?
1. Sony Handycam 2. I add the effects through CZcams
Yeah same with Clark Co.
I wonder what made them decide to go with Sentry?
Billy Payne I thought the same, that area is 2001 territory.
Why does it have a pulsing sound?
It's because this siren has two, separate motors. They spin at slightly different RPMs, making a pulsing sound. When you have two notes that are slightly out of tune, you'll always hear a pulsing effect. The pulsing speeds up the further out of tune you are.
DSRX100 do all the sentry sirens with 2 choppers have 2 motors?
Nope. Just their 16Vs, and some AC ones that are single phase.
DSRX100 oh okay, thanks!
Damn that dissonance
Alert in floyd has issued a request weekly test
