  • Millhousen, IN: Sirens across the state of Indiana wailed Tuesday to mark Severe Weather Awareness Week. Two mock tornado drills were held, one in the morning and one in the evening, to better prepare citizens for treacherous weather. This siren is located at the fire department in the small village of Millhousen in Decatur County. Mounted low to the ground, this 3T22 is a three-phase siren running off a phase converter. We were meet at the station by the fire chief who happily activated the siren for us, as a firefighter would have to do in a real weather emergency as this siren is not remotely activated. The chief also informed us that the siren is tested at fire department meetings during the warm months. Footage in the video was taken both from a tripod mounted camera, as well as a Phantom 3 Drone. Enjoy!

From my meter, standing directly under the pole while the siren is at full speed will make about 127 dBA, so this may be in the high 130's to the low to mid 140's. But I have no idea.

its 3 phase, so i dont think that’s how it works. i think the motor restarting ended up stopping the chopper so the axle could catch.

I don't see the point of having a siren this close to the ground unless it's in a museum or for a demonstration.
