There are Sentry Tornado Sirens in Evansville, and Haubstadt (near the State Police sub station), Both in Vanderburgh County here in Indiana.

and vanderburgh county has all sentrys other than a 2001 srn in darmstadt. darmstadt bought their own siren since the county told em they didnt meet the criteria for one as the town is small & they have no schools or nun

Sometimes VFDs will put those shields against the side of a siren because they only need the sound to travel in a certain direction. But I could be wrong

Pretty interesting. But im wondering why is there so many sirens around? What is the purpose of them?

Usually they’re used for storm warnings, but some counties use them for fire calls and hazmat spills as well
