- Time for a mid-year makeup and cosmetics inventory 2024. Let's assess the progress of my big makeup use up challenge and see exactly what's in my makeup collection. I've been working towards a more minimal makeup collection since I did my first makeup no buy year in 2020 and, with lots of decluttering and project panning along the way. My makeup and cosmetics collection is definitely getting under control.

Love the spreadsheet 😍I used to have an inventory list but I actually ended up stressing about maintaining it and making sure that everything was added or removed correctly. I now have a set of office drawers I use for the products to help me see what I have and that's been the biggest game changer for me. Gives me a ton of motivation not to buy anything unless I use things up😄

Firstly, you have made a massive amount of progress from where you started in 2020. I was in the same place with tea that you were with makeup. I had 47 kinds of tea in my cupboard, now I’m down to about 6, but I drink all of them. You may still have a few things that you want to finish up, but you have figured out what you actually use and like, and going forward will need to replace some of those things as they get used up. Great job 🌻

I have such a hard time using the products I have purchased. Depression is rough. Since watching your videos I made a goal of just getting my shampoo and conditioner products used up. I’m thrilled that I reached my shampoo goal and now I am down to just one and a backup. So now I’m adding my bubble bath collection into my goal (which is to just see how many I can use up the rest of this year)

I saw your intro to the big makeup use up for 2024 and was inspired to start my own to get through the ridiculous amount of product I own and to keep track of it all! I can very safely say I’m absolutely loving it!! 🥰

I think you're where you're going to stay. I got to this stage myself last year, but then I did bring quite a few more products in, so now I'm starting to whittle things down again.
I think you’re right. By the end of this year, I should have used up pretty much all my excess products 🤞
Yes in 2020-2021 I used up so many products and now it’s super slow progress my bodylotions are down to 2 which is cry. I haven’t bought a bodylotion since 2019 I think
It’s so frustrating! I know I should be happy to be so close to my goal but I miss seeing those numbers go down
I began my use-it-up challenge in 2022 as part of my decluttering journey but it was mostly just cleaning products and toiletries. My makeup was so old (seriously, eyeshadows that were older than you!) that I just gave myself permission to throw it all out. I bought a replacement eyeliner by e.l.f. but it gave me an allergic reaction so I gave up on makeup. If it doesn't trigger allergies it gives me sensory issues so now I only have an eyebrow pencil out of absolute necessity.
If it doesn't bring you joy, it's better to just ditch it! It clears out so much space ☺️
