I really resonated with everything you said in this vid!! I also “broke up” with glossier at the same time you did, after being a huge glossier stan for years. At the point I’m at now, I know what I like and my makeup collection is really curated to suit my needs. I don’t feel any need to buy anything new because… well… there basically isn’t any really NEW makeup. There is just repeats of the same stuff we’ve seen for years. Formulas may have improved, but most makeup has been around in some form since the 50s-60s. Neutral palettes and nude lipsticks and pink blush and whatever… it’s all kinda the same. I’ll just stick with what I’ve got instead of wasting money buying the same exact thing in different packaging.
You’re so right. And I really think at this point formulas are pretty much as good as they’re gonna get🙃 there’s never going to be such thing as a foundation that doesn’t crease or a long lasting lip gloss. The makeup I already own is good and I get the looks I want from them. I’m hoping in 2023 I can start to create a really curated collection. Thanks for your comment syd❤️

Girl, I feel exactly the same towards makeup. I used to collect everything I could, and growing up watching huge makeup collection from beauty guru did not help. My views on makeup totally changed and this year I tried to do a project pan and I am really proud, I will continue another project pan in 2022 and it helped me to learn to really enjoy one product and to don't have the need to buy anything else. I am really glad you talked about the glossier situation!! Love you, amazing video as always 🧡

i used to watch your chanel back in 2019 and early 2020! you influenced me a lot to use glossier and visit their pop-up when it came to my area. however, when my own relationship w consumerism, makeup content, and glossier in specific changed so did my watching habits and i have been unsubscribed for the past few years. however, hearing how you speak now is very compelling. i LOVED when samantha ravandal did her no-buy and i watched every video she put out during that period because i knew it wouldn’t be like the last. i look forward to watching your videos again in the new year and seeing how your content grows :)))

This completely resonates with my views about the beauty world. I remember for years watching beauty vids and while I enjoyed them, I couldn't fathom how people were buying and using so much makeup. It took a long time for me to realize that people weren't buying based on what they could realistically use. I try to keep my makeup collection really curated-no more than 2-3 products in a category so that I can minimize waste, but I understand how easy it is to get wrapped up in overconsumption--I've struggled with it for non-makeup things.
I also stopped purchasing from glossier after the "out of the gloss" article came out, and their response was at least as disappointing as what was revealed in the article. Glad to hear more people in the beauty space contending with these issues. New subscriber.
One of my favorite sustainable CZcamsrs is Laini Ozark, she’s really good about making content that emphasis the fact of utilizing what you have and making content off that in honestly a pretty fresh way, and maybe that could be something you can incorporate in your videos in the future! I love this new shift in your view in what Beauty/ makeup means to you ❤

Absolutely loved listening to your thoughts about this and while watching the super relaxing and satisfying visuals! It made me think about how much I spent on makeup (especially over the holiday season for not only others but also myself) and how I don't really need to be doing that with the kind of looks I wear on a daily basis as a student. I'm really looking forward to your upcoming content and seeing how you'll pull inspiration from what you already have! i found your channel when i just started getting into makeup 3 years ago & you’ve definitely inspired most of my makeup choices. i have an entire collection that i love & hearing you talk about a no buy/low buy year has inspired me to do the same!
im definitely a sucker for rare beauty 😂 and buy everything from there, but i also need to save to move out so im gonna try to use what i have & use things that i know i already love ❤

I told myself the same thing for 2023. I wrote a list of things I DONT need more off. I’m just hoping I can stick to it
What's on your list? Mine has to be blushes, bronzers and eyeshadows. Pretty much everything at the moment but those 3 specifically. We can stick to it!
@@chessiedomrongchai bronzers, blushes, single eyeshadows, powders. I allowed myself to only buy lip products(oils) and mascaras if needed. I also won’t be buying any skincare/ hair products/ perfumes until I finish some of what I currently have!!!
Im glad you stand for something that positively influence . I mostly disgust every other influencer recommend every new product in the market. I likeed your videos from the beginning though u own ton of makeup your style was minmalist. I loved your video My makeup collection if I wasn't a blogger. I only own the blushes you recommend.

Omg this is exactly why I stopped buying colourpop years ago! I loved it was affordable & good quality but the new launches every two weeks & never having some of the popular palettes because of it pissed me off!

It’s been a while now since I realised that, even though I am pretty basic with my makeup, I often find myself wanting one product or another just because I see it everywhere on social media. I understand that people want new products to be reviewed but I also think that constantly showing what’s new is now dangerously feeding a cycle of waste and disparities that we should all be more aware of. I’ve been thinking doing the same no buy/low buy for 2023 💓 I did an inventory/sorting of my own products and realised I have enough hair products to last me until May _at least_ 🙃 It’s definitely excessive and the money could be going on other things that could better improve other aspects of life 😌💖

My cream compacts attracts dust and dirt specks so bad! I waste so much trying to clean, 😂 it sucks. Sticks are better for me although I enjoy compacts more!

From someone who literally only has one of everything (besides blush) its so bizarre, how content creators have 10+ foundations, etc. I know not every content creator has 10+ but its still so wasteful. I've found my low buy to be successful. Even though i wasn't on a strict low buy. Literally everything we've seen has been already created. So why do we think we have to try every "NEW" product. At least for me, when I'm done with my cream blush im going to try the Rare one, but i dont need it right away because i just opened a tower 28.
