Really great instruction. I like the fact you are not just telling how to build the farm but also explain how it works.
You deserve the subscribe.
So glad you found it useful Kasandra - appreciate the feeback
100% agreed. Not only can you just follow along block by block but can then alter as needed
If you place a half slab where that extra glass block is near the end you won’t have the same issue with double stacking the dirt and you would also have more visual room to place the dirt. You can also add some noise blocks at the very end of where the blocks can be pushed to alert you as to when you can’t push anymore mud! :3
Thanks for the tutorial!
Thank and glad you enjoyed the vid
Best mud farm I have seen, good job. Put a solid block platform under the mud with dripstones under each of the platform blocks and now you have a clay farm.
Great idea Webyankee! That's exactly what I have done for my clay farm :)
That is epic. A builders dream. Well done once again JJ!
Thanks Andre
I LOVE this farm design!! I’ve used it in several worlds and I’m building it right now for my single player series on my channel!
Glad it is useful _billz_ and appreciate your feedback
This is the mud farm I was looking for! Can't wait to build it and try it out, thank you!
Works perfect!
Glad I could help khixanatkong
Very nice farm. I made them stack up a bit and point into my tree farm so I can auto harvest, but the reuse of glass bottles makes this especially nice.
Glad it was helpful and thanks for the feedback - really appreciate it
Thanks for this design! I ended up digging down and putting some dripstone under the area where the dripstone gets pushed to, and turning it into a clay farm. The mud -> clay conversion isn't fast enough to keep up with generation 100%, but it does okay for just casually sitting around and making mud while I'm keeping other farms on the server loaded.
Yea the clay gen is somewhat random in number of ticks
I am so glad this is possible cause I am in need of a lot of mud for mud bricks. But it's quite time consuming placing dirt, right clicking a water bottle of a dirt block, refill and repeat.
Glad the generator id helpful Dire Wolfheart- appreciate the feedback
Nice JJ! I made similar but didn’t think of the recycling of the water bottle- that’s brilliant! Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Nice one Jax, love the simple design.
Thanks Rabid Rabbit- appreciate that
Just subscribed! Great video, easy simple and works wonderfully. The most work you will do for this is all the bottles you need, but having multiple furnaces speeds that up. I thank you for this and I hope your channel grows, thank you so much.
Really appreciate the support Yvette
really good farm and the way you explained it was super simple and easy to understand, i also like the fact that you reply to every comment its very nice of you, keep it up! 💜
Thanks flamango- really appreciate that
Great build. Really easy instructions. Thank you
Thanks Stephen - appreciate your support
great video and great explanation.
Thanks Henry Appreciate the feedback
Great vid. the first section of the build alone is useful for feeding into a blast chamber
Glad it was helpful
works well in 1.21 i needed mud for my auto sorting chest room and this helped alot
Thats great and appreciate the feedback LaxBoi
Very calm and pleasing voice made it very easy
Thanks a lot 😊 appreciate that
Works great, best mud farm I have seen!
Thanks Imnatez- appreciate the feedback and glad it was helpful
Works on bedrock as well if you move the water elevator one block back.
That way the trap door can be placed beside the block, not in block. Great tutorial, so easy to follow.
Great tip - I have released a bedrock compatible version tho if you do need it
This is contraption is so good as my server requires slow tick speed so it won't be laggy.
Thank you for this❤
You're welcome and than you for the feedback Jhon
Thank you so much! Video was super easy to follow and it works perfect for me~ 1.19.2 Java
So glad it was helpful and really appreciate you feedback
This is very afficient thx gor the effort
Thanks and glad it was helpful rayan
Big subscribe from me. I built this and love it. Great video. Good explanations
Thank you very much
ty my dude works a treat
Thanks appreciate that
great video, thanks!
Glad you liked it and appreciate the feedback
i legit had a dream about this farm 2 days ago with the piston row and everything and was trying to build it. only trouble i was having was that i couldnt get a hopper to put the water bottle into the dispenser. you made my dream come true by using a water elevator
!
Glad it was helpful - appreciate the feedback
+100000 points for explaining how it works BEFORE the build process. THANK YOU. wish all MC youtubers did this
Thanks Chris appreciate the feedback and glad it was helpful
It works perfectly, thanks
Glad it was helpful and thank you for the feedback
Modified this a little so it works on bedrock. Removed the trap doors, extended the waterway out a block and added soul sand to speed up the water bottle refill. Thanks.
Thats great John. If you have any issues I did a bedrock tutorial here czcams.com/video/4gNspnUJQ1w/video.html
That is a very smart way to do the water bottles and dispense them, I would’ve never thought of that. Will have to modify it slightly to be cheaper and have an auto clickers mine the mud but this is great! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful- appreciate the feedback
just what i was looking for, and simple and easy to understand! awesome video!
Thanks Sir Cable - really appreciate the feedback
Great machine! I was having trouble recycling the bottles at first because of some mechanics on the server I'm on, but made some slight modifications to correct for it similar to what @Benevolance suggested. Just subbed, thx!
Thanks Rascal - really appreciate your support
Materials list for weirdos like me:
- 21 building blocks
- 20 glass
- 16 redstone dust
- 9 pistons
- 3 repeaters
- 2 dispensers
- 2 hoppers
- 2 redstone torches
- 2 trapdoors
- 4 water buckets
- 875 glass bottles (for capacity displayed in this video)
Note that I don't think the 20 glass NEEDS to be glass for the redstone to function, but you'll already need a bunch of glass for the bottles so you might as well pick up 20 extra.
Thanks for that There is a full list at 2:39
This is amazing note for anyone if you spam right click and it stops working check to make sure you didn’t accidentally hit the red stone repeater behind the pistion
Good tip
This needs more views, first ever mud generator
Glad you like it Diamond and appreciate the support
Good mud farm, thank you
Thanks spookkish - appreciate that
Had to make this again in another world, still works very well. It's now my go to mud farm.
I modified your design to make it work on Bedrock (because water runs out of waterlogged trap doors) by turning the position of the lower dispenser 90°. 👍🏼
It makes the build 1 block wider, uses 2 more Redstone dust, and uses a total of 18 glass blocks (they didn’t have to be glass, I was following your theme).
I don’t know if this is a Bedrock only feature, but I put the Redstone dust on top of the pistons.
Well done making the changes for bedrock. Yes the mechanics are different and I did do a bedrock version here czcams.com/video/4gNspnUJQ1w/video.html if you want to check it out
Trap doors wherent holding the water back, but moved it one back from repeater and created a 4 block path back to top hopper, golden
Glad the vid was helpful and its working fine for you
This farm works excellent. I'm on Bedrock, so I had to modify the design a bit. I have the bottom dispenser facing into a water source block on top of a packed ice block, another packed ice beyond that with a button to stop the water stream, then onto a soul sand bubble column to move the water bottles up. The water bottle still fills up from the first source block, then gets shot out over the ice, into the bubble column, and finally back into the forward facing dispenser like otherwise shown.
Great job Benevolance - thats really smart thinking coming up with a way to get it working smoothly on bedrock. If you need it I have made a bedrock version as well czcams.com/video/4gNspnUJQ1w/video.html
@@jjaaxxthelegend thank you for the bedrock design a lot of Minecraft creators neglect bedrock edition
No probs Leslie. I build in java but I also test in bedrock so always check the description of my builds and if there is a java build that isnt compatible with bedrock and you would like to build it just let me know and Ill do my best to create one for you
I built this exactly like instructed worked perfectly for 30 muds then after that it just shoots out waterbottles when I place the dirt, can anyone help me with a solution? 😊
Hey Steinunn, this farm has been tested and is still fully working :) Could you check that your repeaters have been placed correctly along side all other redstone, hope this helps
Here before this blows up!
LOL Hey Mari0 and appreciate the support
It's at nice K views currently (6.9k) when I watched
I combined the generator with a tnt dupper to blow the end of the mud zone, so it never reach max capacity. Combined with droppers way down under the explosion zone, it also pickup automatically the mud.
I'm working on the tnt dupper height to see if I can make a clay version (with the dripstones the dropper idea doesn't work, but combined with some water dispenser to wash it all to the side I'm thinking it could)
thanks for the tutorial, it was a great help to start me off!
Sounds pretty cool Felina let me know how you go
Spent 2 hours designing my own and then found this video after.
This is very similar to my design, except my design rotates 2 bottles and takes longer between dirt placements
Good job creating one tho Micah - sounds like you have the hang of redstonning
I really love this farm definitely earned a like & subscribe.
I've been using it for a bit now and have a few tweaks because I needed a ton of mud.
If you place a slab just in front of the piston where the red stone torch is then stand back a bit facing the piston and aim cross-hairs just to the right and a little below the center of the piston it will allow you to hold right click down and spam place blocks fast. Be careful not to accidentally hit the repeater on the other side, if water bottles spit out and dirt gets by check it. The other thing I did was place a floor of pistons pointing down, just above the mud, then observers facing up, just above the pistons and a floor on top of the observers that gets triggered and shifts to trigger the pistons when 1 layer is done, the whole layer of mud gets pushed down and the next begins.
13 blocks down from the pistons I have a observer to trigger a redstone lamp placed above the piston where I aim so I can see it light up and know there is now an 8x12x13 block of mud I can collect. Any standard collection can be placed at the bottom, rails and minecarts, bottom slabs and hoppers or just run around and pick it up. This gives about 20ish stacks of mud fairly fast. Thanks for this farm, it's amazing!
Good tip Cellardwellar - glad the vid was useful and appreciate your feedback
Now that the trap doors can be water locked what should. I use there?
Not really sure what you mean Bailey - can explain a bit more
You are a genius! Thank you for explaining this so well. I do have one question though. If you put soul sand on the bottom of the water column, won’t it speed up the items? Not a critique, just a question. For this, you really deserved the subscribe!
I havent tried that but its not really something that you need to speed up
@@jjaaxxthelegend k, thx
Do you know why the water bottles being dispensed dropper isn’t Turing the dirt to mud and is instead just throwing full bottles out?
Make sure you are using a dispenser and not a dropper
For those on bedrock, when you place water on the trap doors, it will water lock, simply place a sign on the hopper in front of the top trap door, and put a mud block in front of the repeater
Farm works great thank you for this.
I also did a bedrock version czcams.com/video/4gNspnUJQ1w/video.html Metronox but great job getting this one working in bedrock
Would love to make a cube of mud to mine instead, Maybe a tutorial on how to push everything up to get a 10x10 cube of mud?
Ill put it on my to do list Someone
I had to make the water tube 1 block further back because I could not stop the water from flowing through the trapdoors, so the bottle shoots out into a second water block before rising and being swept into the hopper
Needing potentially thousands of clay so I have it pushing out onto a drip stone block and shard pad to automatically turn it into clay which starts happening before I finish putting all the dirt in, my pad was larger but this combines placing the dirt and watering it saving me a ton of time, cheers
Sounds like you got it all working and glad its useful Chris
I can’t seem to get the part with the 8 pistons to work? The redstone doesn’t seem to activate them. Also, I can’t get It to shoot out the glass bottles. It just drops the item. I’m on a server, idk if that helps.
are you on bedrock or java?
Makes a good clay farm too
Sure does
You could add a dripstone module so that it gets turned into clay
You sure can and here is a tutorial I created for a mud farm czcams.com/video/jw-0vdA8gbw/video.html
I can't seem to get the redstone to trigger the dispenser to dispense when its meant to. It doesn't seem to interface with the piston movement to refill
Hey Anit V.
That sounds like you have misplaced a piece of redstone or got your timings wrong. Could you check that all your redstone is correct and then let me know :)
Hey just made this on my world and it worked at first but is now just spitting water bottles out instead of turning the dirt into mud, any fix?
Sound like a glitch - try breaking and replacing the repeater
Am I missing something? Why does my hopper not keep the bottles like an item sorter?
make sure the dispenser is filled totally with bottles - let me know how you go
this looks so great but for some reason the water bottles just wont auto fill with water, ive followed this video step for step, everything works except for the water source filling the bottles as they go to the other dispenser, breaks my heart cause i need a lot of mud too, im also on 1.19.2 so auto fill bottles with a dispenser and source block would have been a thing for a long time at this point, i cant find anything online or any other kind of fix, looks like ill just have to manually make mud by hand
put dripstone with pointed dripstone below where the mud collects and it becomes a clay farm!
Sure does ... just like this :) czcams.com/video/OB-EkrPAj18/video.html
Cool farm but my dispenser with the full bottles sometimes also throws them away, any help?
Make sure you have all your repeater timers set correctly and that you are not standing too close
I played on MC 1.19 Java Multiplayer. I found my problem: I placed the redstone torch on the false side! So : Thnx for the Tutorial. It works fine for me.
Glad you got it sorted Dirk
You could go further beyond with this one...
After the "sheet" of mud is complete, you could have an overhead platform of pistons fire off, pushing the sheet down.
You see where I'm going with this?
You can make a mud Cube.
You can do that for sure or you push them up to make a cube. I cover that briefly in the vid
@@jjaaxxthelegend sorry, neurons fired half way through the video and my fingers went faster than the rest of the video.
No probs at all - I love all the ideas that flow from this community
my machine was wrking perfectly! but then suddenly, it stopped dispensing to water into the dirt to make mud? it would just dispense a full waterbottle that would pop out from behind the dirt block, leaving it as dirt. i cleared out the machine of all mud and tried again, making sure the dispenser and the hopper was filled correctly, but it still does it. does anyone know what could be wrong?
Can you check you havent accidently changed any of the timing - check all repeaters are as they should be - Let me know how you go
how can we make the same line of piston on other side make it elivate 1 block and same line of piston on top of that and repeat that so we can make more then 1 stack of mud ?? pls tell
i don't know how to use red stones thats why don't know how to do that
Hey Mukul,
Expanding a farm in this way can be complicated for sure, especially when you are still learning about redstoning. Over on patreon I offer custom tutorials/redstone designs as well as personalised redstone help, you can check it out here: www.patreon.com/jjaaxxthelegend
Id love to have you join my legend community :)
This farm does not work for me on java. I keep running out of water bottles in the dispenser. I have tried several modifications, but each time I run out of water bottles. They are not being refilled and recycled. I do not seem to get any power to the lower dispenser.
Make sure you have placed the block to the right of the redstone cross ( I had a grass block there ) the block should be next to the dispenser
I didn't even know mud existed in Minecraft
Its in the new 1.19 update Nick
Automatic clay is now finally possible
It is although the conversion times for clay are quite varied so it could be a slow process and harder to automate
@@jjaaxxthelegend Doable regardless I reckon, you could have a square shaped feed tape that goes under dripstone and then a TNT dupe to break it at the end
quick correction: at 1:55 you say pistons can push 15 blocks, this should be 12 not 15
Yep - good point , it is 12
Where do you fill it with glass bottle again?
Watch the vid its pretty clearly explained and shown
Please help i am making this on bedrock and whot i can use insted of trapdors?
Just finished testing in latest bedrock and yes there is an issue with trapdoors and water. Im creating a bedrock version for you and will upload asap...watch this space Here is the bedrock version: czcams.com/video/4gNspnUJQ1w/video.html
Use glass blocks. instead of trapdoors. The water column will be ome block further away. After that is the same as in the video. I used one ice block so the items slided better through the tube to the water column. Don't forget to place water in front of the dispenser on the ice.
Same problem here...
Here is a bedrock version for you

Pretty sure I did everything right but for some reason the dispenser always shoots before the piston pushes. Any idea what might be causing that?
ok, so in my game, the redstone torch also powers the redstone dust that leads to the dispenser. ???
(And it doesn't power the repeater at all.)
Holy fucking shit I'm so stupid I didn't put the dirt block in front of the dispenser
Glad you got it sorted William - easy mistake to make
so at first it worked for a while... but now it only sends dirt blocks forward and the dispenser spits out the water bottles instead of turning the dirt blocks to mud. How do I fix this?
You have to make sure you place a dirt block in front of the dispenser first and then place dirt on the piston. This needs to also be dont after you clear the farm or if you restart the farm
@@jjaaxxthelegend I did this, but still having the same problem... not sure what to do? It worked for a while then suddenly the dispenser isnt able to use the water bottles to convert the dirt blocks to mud anymore? I'm placing the dirt in front of the dispenser first
I figured it out. It looks like I accidently hit the repeater and changed the tick speed on it while placing my dirt. This caused the piston to push the dirt forward too fast, so that the dispenser didn't have a chance to convert the block to mud. Careful not to do this!!! Also, you can safely set the repeater to one tick rather than two for and still have the blocks get converted. It goes much faster this way.
Glad you got it sorted
My empty bottles don't fill up while traveling to upper hopper. Am I doing something wrong?
Edit: Fixed.
I Forgot one of the blocks above the redstone and the bottles weren't even being dispensed.
Glad you got it sorted Crt
i followed it perfectly but for some reason it shoots out 2 bottled water at a time. how do i fix this?
Tested in latest version with no issues so could you check your redstoning as it sounds like you have an error
@@jjaaxxthelegend did some modifications myself and fixed it. for some reason the redstone ticked twice when i placed a block. all fixed now though
How did you make glass bottles turn into water bottles? Doesn't work for me for some reason
EDIT: Nevermind i messed up the repeaters, everything works excellently, thx for the tutorial 👍
Easy to do - glad you got it sorted

This saved my muddy life for 5 mins and worked amazing but I think I broke it :(
The dispenser only dispenses water bottles (as item drops) now? No longer turns the dirt into mud.... Looking for a solution!
Found the fix: in my enthusiasm I clicked the repeater another time... lol :p
Pro tip: keep it set to 3 ticks/2 clicks :D
Glad you got it sorted, its an easy thing to do
Help! The bottles are clipping through the blocks instead of breaking!
Idk how but I fixed it...
Glad you got it sorted
I made it but the bottle won't float up
Make sure all your water is placed 100% correctly as per the video :)
Please add a tnt chamber that automatically destroy the blocks
You could do that for sure but the aim of this farm was to keep it survival simple so you can get it going fast
Hey first of all: good video, and this farm is amazing! I just have one issue, when I place a dirt block, the dispenser shoots two water bottles instead of one, which means that my inventory slowly fills itself up with bottles.. I built the machine just like in the video, can someone pls help me?
I haven't been able to reproduce this fault Double check your redstone and maybe you might need to change it slightly to this bedrock/java version czcams.com/video/4gNspnUJQ1w/video.html
