Works like a charm! I'll add that if you want a clay farm, you can just push the mud onto a field of blocks with dripstone under it and the mud will turn to clay.
Glad it was helpful and yep good tip There is a tutorial for anyone looking on how to create a clay farm using this build
I wish I knew about your channel earlier, the explanation makes it really clear. Great tutorial, thank you! ⭐
Glad it was useful and appreciate the feedback
Ingenious design. Works flawlessly on Bedrock edition. Thank you so much for this. This will prove a massive help! :)
Thanks and appreciate the comments
Great machine and straightforward tutorial! I had problems with it earlier but finally noticed I'd changed the repeater settings!
Glad you figured it out and appreciate the feedback
Thank you for the simple little mud farm. I needed this farm badly!! Thanks!!!
Glad it was useful and appreciate the feedback
This is JUST what I was looking for! Simple tutorial too.
Thanks Mother Trece - appreciate the feedback
Just built this in survival. Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks!!
Glad I could help and appreciate the feedback
Many thanks. I have a huge surplus of dirt from all my terraforming and recently learned of the existence of mud. Then learned how tedious it is just to make one block. This cuts out the manual interaction with water bottles.
Thats great - appreciate the feedback Gravity Cat
Great little farm! I’m on bedrock multiplayer and for some reason it wouldn’t work with the first repeater on 3 ticks, the dispenser just wouldn’t convert the dirt into mud. But setting it to maximum delay it does work. Weird but that’s bedrock for you 😅
Glad you got it sorted - that could well be a server situation
It happens to me as well
I can't get the bottle go up the water so doesn't go into the dispenser
That's funny because I just built it on my bedrock server and it worked just fine
@@stephensmith1860, the column of water must all be source blocks for the bottles to float up; otherwise, it’s a contained waterfall.
Hey thanks for the tutorial, I'm not good at redstone and those complicated setups. Happen to see this kind of setup by a random streamer I like how simple piston pushing them so I can just grab them all once I feel like it. Went to search on CZcams and your video is there :D
Your voice is pretty clear and its easy to follow through, thanks once again! Can't wait to make this in my friend's world soon
Thanks Poi - appreciate the feedback
Lovely clear tutorial, thank you. It works perfectly and is pretty cheap to build too!
No problem The Grand Sophy Im glad it helped :)
So far the easiest and best mud farm I have seen so far👍keep up the awesome tutorials.
Thanks - appreciate that ItsLoneWolf
this was super helpful! tried following a tutorial of someone i watch pretty often but their design wouldn't work in bedrock and goes over my head quite a bit, but this was super easy!! am now able to sell mud to my friends on our realm :D
Thats great - appreciate the feedback brighttwist
Works on my Ps4.
Good job dude.
Thats great and appreciate the feedback
Thanks so much. Works on my world great. Now I gotta make another one over drip stone for clay. Subed
Appreciate the support CG Fam Team
i just built this and yolo'd a stack of 64 dirt holding down right click, and it worked like a charm! love it!! thanks so much :D great guide :)
Glad it helped and I really appreciate your feedback
Best mud farm ever thank you, works great
You're welcome and thanks for the feedback GamerMom
Awesome you just saved my hrs trying to find mud in my world. Thank you.
Glad to help and appreciate the feedback
very well detailed very well thought out i thought this was a very good build overall thank you.
Thanks - really appreciate that
Thanks! Just built on a bedrock 1.19 realm and works like a charm!
Thats great Jeff - thanks for the feedback
Stellar vid, works great!!
Glad it helped and appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback Elizabeth
Thanks. Works great.
Thanks Robert
Great work!
Thanks - appreciate the feedback
Thank you,Thank you!! My first redstone machine!!!
Thats awesome Lady RebelFL glad the vid was helpful
Thanks for this bro it's very easy tutorial I just forgot the second repeater I figured it out though works great :-)
Glad it helped
This great! Thanks
Glad it was helpful Hendrik
thaks for this farm. It works perfect!
Glad it was helpful and thankyou for the feedback
Very neat little system going to build this into my world for packed mud and to getv clay
Glad it is helpful OriginalJimmy01- thanks for the feedback
@@jjaaxxthelegend I was almost confused on how the water bottles refilled themselves but it was explained by someone I know
Great tutorial Ty JJ
Glad you like it Walle
@@jjaaxxthelegend could you use it as a concrete generator as well
You would have to change the mechanics WALLE - if you get a chance to jump on the server let me know and we can see what we come up with
This is awesome thank you. Also I easily converted this into a clay farm by putting drip stone underneath all the blocks where the clay is, And I have a super smelter right next to it so it’s pretty much a terracotta farm. 😊
Glad it was useful Remus and that set up sounds epic
OMG it actually worked. I was 102% certain I wasted my time but- it…. It worked!!! Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful
Thanks
Glad I could help
Thank you I needed this bc I traveled so much in my world already I can’t find the new biomes rip
Glad it was useful and appreciate your support
Great build love your build. Only thing I would say is make the floor of the area that the mud is all pushed on something like stone so you can't destroy it when harvesting the mud
Great Idea, thanks for the feedback :)
thank so much im building a big build and the core block is mud brick so thank alot.
Thats great Only Bored - appreciate the feedback
Good explanation of the mechanism, clear tutorial. Interestingly, you can make do with fewer bottles (tested on Java 1.19.1 at least), but you have to do your block placements a bit more slowly or accept more dirt blocks in your mud batch. I couldn't get hold of enough bottles, so I only managed about 6-7 stacks total.
I was hoping to find something about this in the comments! I don't quite have enough glass so this is great to know. Thanks for sharing!
Good tip :)
thanks!!
You're welcome
Bedrock- works nice simple efficient. Built it under my underground farm so growing the wheat I need for the bricks while I make the mud. And no mobs. Thanks for the design.
Thats great Droman- thank you for the feedback
Perfect on mine. I dont use the bedrock minecraft realm as a server. I use Apex so the repeaters on 3 ticks were fine. 1 interesting thing. Once the block was made I had floating water bottles that were not picked up by the hopper yet. I hope they dont disappear and I don't think they should since they are bouncing around in the water. Wait...they did. and the dispenser had 1 bottle that wasnt filled plus the first hopper got its numbers messed up. I think I was going too fast. works great. Nice vid, thanks
Thanks for the feedback Kurbs
Fantastic build! I tried for so long to figure out how to build one of these on my own and could never quite get it working.
Im glad it was helpful
Still works great on bedrock. Although I put the redstone directly on the pistons to save blocks, and I upgraded the holding area to hold 167 blocks instead of 104.
Thats great Duh
No, it doesnt
How exactly did you upgrade th holding area to hold more?
Great design 👌 well done on the tutorial as well
Thanks Michael - appreciate that
Great design! Convert the mud to clay (if you wish) by hanging dripstone stalactites beneath the floor where the mud comes out :D
You sure can
I tried before to make something like this, but could not automate the bottle refilling that is the real gem here
Glad it was helpful esaedro
This farm works amazing thank you so much. Keep up the good Work. And Quick Question do you ever lose or have to refill bottles. This worked on bedrock BTW
You shouldnt but it maybe a glitch that happens now and them
great farm, just made it myself.
Thats awesome Hex - glad the vid was useful and appreciate your feedback
I'm in minecraft 1.19.80.22 and I can confirm that it works wonderfully, so much so that I made another module but with the difference that I put stalactites below to have a clay farm 😋
Thanks Angels - glad it was a useful vid
could you connect the redstone to another dropper which is filled with dirt so that once you place a dirt it drops one into your inventory?
Edit: yes you can also if you put dripstone under the mud it will be a very good clay farm
Yep you can - glad you figured it out ")
Great unit! Thanks!
I have one question, though: where is the video for the more compact (java) version?
Never mind; I found it.
Glad you found it and appreciate the feedback
I'm on bedrock 1:20:3 (i think, not 4 anyway), mobiles. this still works but I had to click the first repeater one time instead of twice.
Yep I tested again and it seems that there are a few timing issues with some versions bedrock that might mean you need to adjust the repeater - good tip
I added an automatic shutdown when the piston limit is reached, so that you do not have to set the blocks in the initial position each time and return the missed bottles to the system.
cool
I have a fantastic strategy for grassy areas. Surround with grass path and replace ALL grass with dirt so grass doesn’t grow inside
That would work for sure - great tip
Great tutorial, thank you!! The only thing is, my dispenser isn’t refilling with water bottles so it’ll only make 6 mud before it runs out. Does anyone know what i’m doing wrong?:)
Same the one dispenser I think is supposed to drop a bottle but it’s not and it dose not go up in the water
I'm also having the same problem
Make sure you have the water tower made correctly - every block needs to be a water source block
Check your redstone and repeaters are placed correctly and that every water block is a source block
The same thing happened to me. I found out that I had one of the dispensers facing the wrong direction but after I fixed that, everything worked out
On Xbox can't get the water bottles to cycle through I have to re fill the dispenser every time
Check your water column is correctly build and has source blocks where it should
Second dispencer never shoots out water bottles, i have the entire thing buolt correctly yet doesnt worm
Make sure the blocks around the redstone are placed correctly
I was trying to use an observer, don't I feel like a fool. The piston just wouldn't stop.
Easy to do - glad you got it sorted
Could I have one stack of Bottles in each hopper and fill the other slots with stacks of dirt to save on glass?
No because then you may find you are dispensing dirt blocks which wouldnt work
do we have to use 18 1/2 stacks of water bottles, or is it possible to use a different block (very poor on sand) lol (yes I know water bottles still need to filter, TYI!
Yes you need that many
This doesn't seem to work in a multi-player server. The dispenser doesn't turn the dirt into mud, instead it just spits out a water bottle
Make sure the server you are on is 1.19
For some reason I keep running out of water bottles in my first dispenser so I can only convert six total mud blocks before I refill it, what did I do wrong? 😅
Make sure your water column is correctly set up
Why does it shoot out water bottles after it turns to mud?
Hey Cole, This sounds like a timing issue, make sure all repeaters and redstone are placed correctly and have been set up with the correct amount of ticks, hope this fixes the issue :)
Does it have to be full 64 stacks of glass bottles or can it be less ? 😳😳
You need to have the 64 in the hopper for the mechanic to work
the dispenser that shoots the bottles into the water doesn't work it just refuses
Make sure you have all the water as source blocks
Having a problem where the bottles aren't filling up going through the water
Check you are using a dispenser and not a dropper at the bottom and also check that every water block up the tube is a source block
Hey , I accidentally picked up 4 water bottles thrown by the dispenser and I put them back and the dispenser now have 9 water bottles , will this break the farm? Also I accidentally picked up another one and I can't place it in the dispenser because it already have 9 in it now
Just drink the water and put the bottle back in the chest
I'm on Bedrock. It's working for me for the most part, the dirt is nearly always being turned into mud, but sometimes somehow the water bottle dispenser is shooting out extra water bottles that I keep picking up. Any ideas on how to fix this?
How close are you standing? Try moving away a bit and let me know how you go
i spent hours working on a design and this made it pointless mostly, But is there a way to expand the mineable area even more?
I explain in the video how you can expand it into a cube by adding extra pistons.
Is the 18 and a half stacks necessary or is it just a safety..??
Its necessary - there are work arounds but they can lead to issues
Great farm. Though I had to add some redstone to power the dropper which fills the water bottles. Might be because I was making it in mid-air.
I've hooked mine up to an easy-mode Wither block breaker for more automation. It's so handy, thanks!
Yes in the air you dont have the block to power it - great ideas re the wither
Great tutorial. My only issue is that this is not very feasible for the survival gamemode, because you need over A THOUSAND glass bottles. I had to cheat and give myself the glass bottles, because that is WAY too many to craft...
LOL yes its a lot of bottles but it is quite achievable in survival. You just gotta dig dig dig :) Check out the sandstone build Wild and I did in season 2 of Alphacraft czcams.com/video/WQjErFMvYvI/video.html Now that was a lot of digging and a LOT of sand
I bought glass from Librarians, primarily. I established an artificial village at my home base and their third-tier trades can have 4 glass for one emerald. It banks on you having an established village with levelled up librarians but it can help off-set the sand requirement. Can easily get a stack and a bit of glass from that trade.
it doesnt work very well when you hold down right click, as it places blocks too fast for it to work and shoots out waterbottles at mud thus losing bottles and slowing the machine
It does work but you must have your cursor in the correct place as per instructions in vid
My mud farm only makes 6 blocks and stops, how do I fix this?
Have you checked your water is correctly placed
Help I've built every part but bottles are not refilling so have to constant refill bottles
Fixed it was a missed block
Done that myself - glad you got it fixed
The hopper won't automatically put the water in the dispenser did I do something wrong?
Make sure the end of the hopper is facing the dispenser
Thanks XxAmuletxX - yes that would be the first thing to check for sure
Can you item lock with different stuff? It’s a lot of glass required for a survival world
You can use any block - it doesnt need to be glass
@@jjaaxxthelegend how would you do that? Please help lol
Do you mean the blocks around the water system or the bottles. If you mean the bottles there is no other option for those but you can build the water system out of any block
@@jjaaxxthelegend the bottles, I hate trying to do auto systems like this cause my brain can’t figure out how to properly do it lmao🤣
Hi. Sorry for bad eng, guide is awesome. But have a little or not little problem. Server 1.19, if I place dirt, dirt is wetting (mud)and mechanics work nicely, but my inventory every time when I place dirt, filling with a water bottle, every time. And this is problem, because I need do bottles empty every time, how can I not to fill inventory every dirt block? Sorry for question if u can help it will be great, thanks
It could be that you are standing really close to the dispenser. Try standing a little further away and let me know how that goes
@@jjaaxxthelegend yeah, it was close to the machine, i change my construction and position when i placing some dirt. Thx for answer by the way
Hey, is there any way that this could be turned into a clay farm?
You can just place a bunch of dripstone blocks with a pointed dripstone beneath that under where the mud gets pushed, you'd just need to mine out two blocks below the mud area to line all that up. It'll take a while, given how slow that takes in survival tick rate, but it'll be a fairly efficient clay convertor as well. Maybe even stagger a row of dripstone convertors every other line, you could have a combined mud and clay farm
Yes
build this farm in the air and place one block and drip stones under where the mud is pushed out
I am working on a much more aoutomated way but for now there are some good idea replies from Timetravelzero and joe roche
Ty for the answers!
How is this design supposed to refill the bottles with water?
It uses an infinite water source Marcus
What is the purpose of the Redstone cross placed in 3:41?
It powers the block the right hand side which then powers the dispenser
@@jjaaxxthelegend got it! It's a 'soft-powered' block; thank you for responding. I'm still "learning the ropes" on Redstone mechanics 😊
It doesn’t even power the dispenser
yes it does?
im not getting any bottles back thats filled
Check you are using a dispenser and not a dropper
Bro My water bottles are not refilling can u please guide md
You either have an issue with the way you have done the redstone or you havent made every block a water source in your column. Let me know how you go
Only problem i have is way too many water bottles coming out. Any reason for this or way around?
When this happened to me I just slowed down dirt placement, and that seemed to work.
Good tip
If you are in bedrock 1.20 don’t adjust the repeaters. Just leave it alone. Mine wouldn’t work because of that. 👍🏼
There can be timing issues with bedrock. I tested this on bedrock with no issues but its a good tip for anyone having issues
@@jjaaxxthelegendyeah, was no hate btw- ty for the generator. Has helped a ton with this build of mine lol.
Now just place 64 pistons under where the square forms and rig them to push up once the whole square is done. Lol.
Mud cube maker
You could for sure
Stacks as in 16 or 64 I’m confused
64 if you mean the bottles
@@jjaaxxthelegendTHAT MANY!?! So over 1000 bottles?!?!
The water bottle wont go back to the dispenser after i place dirt. Cant anyone help me?
Im not sure what you mean - can you explain a bit more and Ill try to help you
@@jjaaxxthelegend the problem i had the water bottle wont go up(the water elevator thing?) to dispenser that make dirt to mud but i fixed it already.
My bottles aren't refilling, it keeps spiting out empty bottles... The blocks are there, dispensers not droppers....
Check you are using a dispenser and not a dropper at the bottom and also check that every water block up the tube is a source block
@@jjaaxxthelegend oh, lol I had a soul sand in the ground, apparently this will break the mechanic.... Ty tho👍
TROUBLE SHOOTING (like this comment to bring it to the top or Jax/Wild if you could pin it, that would be awesome for anyone having issues)
After much grief trying to make this build work on a 1.20 Bedrock Multiplayer Realm, I finally got it working! My issue was that the bottles were not refilled in the water elevator, but instead spitting out empty bottles back into the system (the last 32 from the hopper underneath the first dispenser adding to 38 or sometimes 37 with one filled bottle in my inventory), effectively only making 5 or 6 mud from the intentionally placed six water bottles in the front dispenser. I tore the whole system down three times, but the fourth time was the charm!
For anyone struggling, here's what I did and an accumulation of other comments:
1) Use smooth stone for pretty much all blocks directly touching or adjacent to the redstone, both dispensers, and piston (just the one connected to the initial push of dirt, the others can be your choice block) (you can use stone, but I find smooth stone more aesthetic)
2) Ensure you are using two dispensers, not a dropper
3) Ensure all redstone is placed accordingly (& that the one underground is a cross and not a line)
4) Ensure the redstone torch is placed on the correct wall
5) Ensure the repeaters are facing the correct way
6) For the repeater that is adjusted, three ticks means clicking only twice, not three times
7) Ensure all the holes in the ground are filled that are surrounding the underground dispenser and in front of the hoppers that are connecting the two dispensers
8) Do not use soul sand at the bottom of the water elevator - it will break the water refilling cycle. Items naturally float to the top when in water, so it is not necessary
9) Ensure all four water points in the elevator are source blocks from water buckets that are placed on the back wall of the elevator
10) Ensure the top of the water flow is covered with glass
11) The amount of bottles is necessary and should be followed accordingly. Using other filler blocks will spit out those blocks in the rotation, breaking the infinite water bottle cycle
Some good tips as bedrock realms can have some timing issues
Evrytime I use it it spits out extra bottles
Bedrock on xbox
make sure you have your repeaters correctly placed
It’s not 100% working for me?
Can you explain the issue and what is happening. Also what platform are you on? I will try to help you troubleshoot
Doesnt't work on bedrock, the bottles dont refill
It does work and I have tested across multiple worlds - check you have full water source blocks and that your water column is correctly built
Just like the creator of another vid who uses the same contraption. It "doesn't work" in Bedrock, instead of the intended refill, the empty glass bottles after converting the first 6 dirt blocks into mud got stuck on the bottom hopper and stuck at 38. Nice vid tho, but it didn't meet my expectations.
Note: Already checked the bubble column, checked the redstone, and checked the dispensers, but still the same result.
The dispensers on the bottom doesn't activate either, even tho it covered it up, just as you said
It does work on bedrock , I and many other have tested it. What do you mean by 38?
Mine wasn’t working at first, but then I realized I placed the second repeater down wrong. Works great now and I’m on bedrock on realms.
Glad you got it sorted - easy mistake to make for sure
why is mine spitting out water bottles???
Check you have a dispenser and not a dropper
I had the same problem and I wasn't first placing a dirt block in front of the dispenser, then place your dirt repeatedly in front of the piston
This doesn't work on Bedrock. The redstone randomly decides not to turn the dirt into mud
Tested and works on bedrock - let me know the issue and Ill try to help you
Not work on bedrock😭
Its tested and working on bedrock - check you have the redstone built correctly
Can I expand the piston line ?
You can add a mechanism to push the blocks up so you create a cube rather than a rectangle but you cant make the piston line longer as there is a limit on how many blocks can be pushed along
No longer works. Bottle recycler doesnt work.
It works fine in 1.20 I have tested with no issues, Are you bedrock or java? Can you check you have the water placed correctly
Dude this guy is a freaking scammer I did this exact same thing 3:26 and it completely failed
and how exactly did it fail?
