    This device claims to be able to sterilize your phone and kill bacteria using UV light. But how well does it work? I decided to test it out myself.
    More Reviews ▶ • Reviews & Unboxings
    The PhoneSoap is a device that uses Ultraviolet light to sanitize and sterilize your phone, claiming to be able to kill bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens. In this review, I test it for myself, and do a science experiment to find out how well the PhoneSoap can kill phone bacteria. I used petri dishes to find out how much bacteria was on my phone before and after using the phone sanitizer. In the end, I did find that the PhoneSoap clearly worked, and was able to kill basically any bacteria that was on the phone before.

    As always, I am taking recommendations for more stuff you would like to see. I've been toying with the idea of a series almost like "Your Dumb Comments", except having to do with the latest tech news or something, and with must less autism.

    hey Thio, I remember about a year or two ago Samsung said they would start using special antibacterial properties in the materials that they used to build the phones. this might be why we're not seeing bacteria on the phone, but we're seeing bacteria on the case because it's not a Samsung products with that feature

      He decided to do that because it's what he enjoys most, it means that most of the people that watch his content will genuinely enjoy it, if that means he loses subscribers, that is unfortunate but he isn't forcing anyone to stay subscribed.

    As a biology student, I must say I'm quite surprised with how little bacteria grew on your petri dishes. People in our group of students had more bacteria in an actual sterile environment during practicals than you had in a situation with a lot of opportunities of contamination. Maybe the bacteria didn't have quite enough time to grow or lacked something. Then again, the result was quite obvious so I'd say there is a pretty good chance of the thing actually working. Makes sense if it's UV-C. Interesting video!

    I was expecting you to be using one of those devices where you swab any surface you want, then put it in the device and it gives you a reading of the bacteria count, though as you mentioned yourself I believe, the results in the end speaks for themselves regardless of if you used a device to get the results or not. And thanks for reviewing this product, I have seen it before and was skeptical to how good it actually was, and didn't want to buy it because I have a tight budget. But now that I know it works, I might consider buying it :)

    • @Chaosxinc
      @Chaosxinc Před 7 lety

      Yeah :(
      Every video is tech now. At least before some videos were trolls, others were reading dumb comments, and then others had more funny stuff. Now every video is solely tech. He claimed that the channel wasn't headed in a new direction as he's always done tech videos, but that's not true at all. Just look at the video list, real tech videos were not why this channel became so popular. I've tried a few times to reason with him, even to the point of just asking for some comedy like he promised, but I think this channel is done.
      I thought for sure he would see how dismal the views are for these new types of videos for this channel, even TNN (Thio News Network, which I liked) got more views than this. I warned him ahead of time to make sure he's got money saved up as a million people didn't subscribe to this channel for real tech reviews. Yes, there were many who did for the free stuff angle, but not as many for the lol factor and the style in which he trolled those who thought they were real.
      If he's ok with have over a million subscribers, but only getting 15k-30k views per view tops, by forcing tech videos on a channel that didn't subscribe for that type of content, then I guess there is nothing more we can do. I gave up trying to compromise with him (ok well one last shot at it here), as this is the third video now with no comedy since my last reply. Reminds me of SquareEnix, who never listens to their fans and just does whatever they want and can't figure out why their sales suck.

    • @Chaosxinc
      @Chaosxinc Před 7 lety

      When did this vote take place? And who is this majority? I'm looking at views as the indicator of what people want to see. 9 videos without any fake videos is too long. If people wanted real tech videos, that's what the tech channel is for. This is like a bait and switch now.

    • @ThioJoe
      @ThioJoe  Před 7 lety +7

      The truth is, even the old videos didn't get many views compared to my total subscriber count. Unless I made the same fake tutorial or some random clickbait, I couldn't even hope for 50k views. If I'm not going to get many views, I may as well do what I enjoy. Obviously a lot of people subscribed, but not many people kept watching, which is a problem. Real tech videos are infinitely more sustainable for a myriad of reasons, and I am now considering the long term (5+ years). Obviously I'm not blind to the risks, and I know that in the short term (even many months out) I'll see a drop in views. However, I am not thinking in the short term. And ChaosX, know that you as a viewer have a very limited perspective, and there are more factors that went into my decision that you can even imagine. So please do not go around acting like you know what's best for my channel.

    • @Chaosxinc
      @Chaosxinc Před 7 lety +1

      ThioJoe I never claimed to know what's best for your channel. I am giving you my perspective as a long time viewer and subscriber based on the information available and the thoughts you gave. If you describe a long time viewer's perspective as very limited, then how do you expect to connect with your audience?
      All I asked for was some comedy, the reason why I subscribed and liked your videos.

    UV-C was discover recently in the space mission Director F12 on mars 2013. China created a new type of living cells, then they saw this was dangerous and UV-C was only a prototype. We tried C30Z8, a strong decontaminant and it didn't work. From the space ship, they could turn on or turn off these UV-C lights so they did. The operation was a sucess. Whoever is wondering where UV-C spectrum comes from, it's the shattering of light against a really dark matte pellicule. This is the story of UV-C light mates.

    Biology student here, I cant necessarily hear what you're saying but a few things i noticed is that you had your bacteria in petri dishes that are in ziplock bags. if you had these bags closed no air would be permitted and that could be one reason you had low levels of growth on your phone. also taping your petri dishes would also prevent oxygen into the petri dish which would kill bacteria. If you didnt do this disregard this message i cant hear what youre saying because im in class lol
