- Mortal Kombat 4 game endings on Nintendo 64 are a mix of fantastic cinematic storytelling with some utterly abysmal cut scenes. There are 15 endings for the main characters so here I've ranked them in order from worst to best. Its a shame the secret characters like Goro, n00b Saibot and Meat didn't have endings in my opinion.
Fujin, Jarek, Jax, Johnny Cage , Kai, Liu Kang, Quan Chi, Raiden, Reiko, Reptile , Scorpion, Shinnok, Sonya, Sub Zero , Tanya are the main characters this time around.

Reptile had the worst ending by far.
He's not really a bad man, he just wants to live peacefully next to his extinct race.
And then he gets killed by two characters you alredy defeated in Arcade mode.

Reptile was always one of my fav characters as I had lizard pets as a kid so that was enough of a reason for me hha

I love how often they did it
Still my fav mk of all time. Memorized the moves of every fighter and beat the arcade on ultimate 2 dif with each character. Awesome fatalties and hilarious cut scenes.

The cutscenes is one of the reasons I love this game. I recently replayed it, and honestly still have no idea why it gets such a bad reputation.
Yeah me either, really fun game. I think too many new characters didn’t help it personally
The cheese in these is sumptuous, I love it. They all seem to cut each other’s lines off. You’d think programming a little delay between each character’s lines wouldn’t be that much of a challenge!
I personally played this game in my 13" tv so much that I unintentionally memorized the AI's movements, and any level of difficulty became a breeze. Sadly, this isn't a flex but a testament to how much free time we all had growing up. I wish this game was more popular at arcades instead of tekken tag. But I choose an N64 instead of ps1 or Sega Saturn and there weren't many fighters on there. I discovered Rieko was the best character and his ending is totally different from the Playstation, dreamcast, and PC ports (which had more characters too.)
That’s very cool, I enjoyed this game but can’t ever remember being that good at it. I liked the weapons in it though
Oh man I loved this game and played it for hours and hours as a kid. It had such a dark and creepy atmosphere (love the soundtrack) while also being cheesy.
I love MK11 (probably the best MK so far) but it feels a little bit like an action movie. I hope they bring back the old sinister theme in the next Mortal Kombat.
As for the Endings in MK4, I probably like Raiden's Ending the most because it gives me chills.
Have you ever checked out the Playstation versions of all the endings? They're not all the same!

Interesting video idea here. I used to play mk4 so so so much. I said it was my favorite for the longest time but my cartridge was sold after I lent it to my dad. So I just forgot about the game and never played it again (10-15 years ago). This is gonna be fun to look back on
Well that was fun. Quan-Chi's was my favorite. I like Shinnok's as well
I generally prefer bad guys in any games and movies etc
The sonia/jarek/jax endings are an absolute abomination and clusterfuck of story telling. To be fair, they did Jarek dirty with the deal. He agreed to help and they wanted him in jail

The first statement of the video is sad but true. Mortal Kombat 4 is a good game, but just shines like one of the best on N64 because the platform has almost nothing in the genre. Critics aside, very good video!

I don't remember there being so many whisper "Arite"s in the endings. The most clear at the Raiden ending always stood out to me. I recorded these on VHS way back in the day. Memories!
*Raiden's and the Sub Zero one which actually includes it in the subtitles... so weird.

Realizing that the repeated sighs are not actually you facepalming over the voice acting took way too long.
MK2 is still my favorite for its fluent combat, but getting all the endings like that is pretty neat. :)

I actually liked fatalitys more than endings.
Solid game with responsive gameplay. I never really used to handling/button layout of the DC -version of MK4, so N64 -version is best version of this great Arcade -game, in my opinion.
Yeah I always remember being slightly disappointed though that they had 2 fatalities and the standard 2 stage fatalities

It was great animation for its time in 97-98. As a kid i thought it was awesome. I played this game so much just to see the ending cutscenes. I remember later finding out a cheat where you could end the game in the first round and go straight to the ending cutscenes. Good times !!

It almost looks like there's texture warping in some of these cutscenes. Would have been cool to see the MKGold models and backgrounds as in engine cutscenes in Mortal Kombat Gold on Sega Dreamcast but they opted for the much flashier gaudier CG PS1 cutscenes.
10:31 Not only the most noticeable case, but also the draw distance starts too far lmao. In fact the game also has vertex snapping like on PS1 games, and another port that has that on N64 is Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness.

All I remember about this game is how bad the cutscenes were and all the kids at the arcade wanted to play as reptile because of his invisibility
Yeah I personally didn’t like what they did with the character model in mk4 for reptile. I liked him in 2 the most.

I loved playing him and a few of my friends would you refuse to play me if I chose him lol! I think Quan Chi has been in a few since then.
