Loved 1080 Snowboarding!
Ricky Winterborn!
Kensuke Kimachi!
Dion blaster!
There was just something special about picking up a brand-new N64 magazine from your local pharmacy book/magazine stall. The smell of fresh print, I used to read them in the bathroom all the time. 😂 Reading and watching videos on the internet is just not the same, or maybe I'm just old lol.
Aw man i love these episodes. April 98 woop! I was right in the middle of the N64 hype train at this point and definitely picking up N64 Magazine. I was working my first job and had plenty of disposable income to get games, accessories and almost certainly had this issue.
Time to pour a beer and settle in. I hope we don't have to wait too long for the next episode! :)
You fight like a Dairy Farmer!
Couple of weeks till issue 15 😂🍻
@n64glennplant lies! Lol. Feel better Glenn.
As Yank military brat back in the 90's, I remember getting many of the UK Nintendo magazines. I loved getting the British ones over the US versions. More articles and extras.
Please keep these N64 mag reviews up Glenn! I used to read these from cover to cover, these videos are like therapy to me.
Health permitting I’ll get an episode up soon again hopefully
Glenn, I forgot to say thank you. The n64 was a great part of my life.
Mine too 🙏🏼
Yes!! I love these
Thanks Alex appreciate that
I’m a newbie here but oh my fuck, I forgot about N64 magazine. I had a whole crate under my bed of their releases… gone now
Same. Kills me to this day that I got rid of them. Seemed sensible at the time...
They go for a couple of quid each on eBay but sometimes you see full sets
@@n64glennplant cheers bud. It is a project I plan to do one day. I still to this day have not laughed so much while reading a magazine. The humour of the guys running that thing, honestly!
Got a full set of n64 magazine and ngc. Sorry to rub it in!
@@PeaceBeTheJourney. that's a little close to the bone. 😅
Loving this series Glenn - thank you for making me fall in love with my old N64 (day 1 purchase) all over again.
Can’t wait to see the next episode. Your reviews make my day.
Thank you - hopefully have next one up soon enough
Thanks Glenn. Hope your feeling okay and wishing you a happy Easter 🐣
Love these, thanks Glenn. Wasn't this issue but back in the day I went to my local newsagent before school and saw a new issue featuring Banjo-Kazooie. I wanted to buy it later, so I hid it behind another magazine. Later that day the school pulled my brother and I out of class, accused us of stealing and went through our bags. Once I realised and explained what I'd done we were OK but it was a pretty memorable event :)
What issue was it!?!?
@@n64glennplant it looks like it would have been issue 18, Aug 1998
That issue review would tie in perfectly with today's (20/01) Switch expansion pack release.
Always felt guilty playing snowboard kids over 1080. Just had more fun...
Like both but SBK is much more fun imho
I actually had this one 😃👍. As soon as I saw the cover I was taken right back in time . Golden days of gaming . Thanks for sharing 👍
I just have to say I really appreciate your channel, and I always have since I found it years ago. I'm so happy to check out your videos each and every time. There's something wonderful in the combination of your iconic voice to me and your passion for the same games I grew up loving. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Bomberman 64, Jet Force Gemini, Mario Kart 64, Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, etc! The list truly does go on, as I also enjoyed renting games as you did, such as Chameleon Twist for my solo plays and Snowboard Kids 1&2 to play with my brother! Words cannot describe how nostalgic it is to watch your videos. They provide me with the ability to vicariously live through my childhood again.
Thanks for everything you do, Glenn. Truly. Thank you.
and thank you for watching, this series doesn’t pull in the numbers like some other video types I do, and they are an absolute nightmare to put together but I enjoy the nostalgia trip and other people enjoying it all makes it worth while
Ah Goemon.
Back when Konami used to make games
Amen to that!
Jeez... Buck Bumble, I had totally forgotten about that one. I remember taking turns playing it with my brother. Thanks for the nostalgia jolt, good times.
Bom to the bom to the bom to the base
I’ve never seen a content creator get so much mileage out of one system. Kinda impressive. But I’m legit curious if Glenn has ever played another gaming console, lol.
He doesn’t like modern gaming. Can’t say I blame him.
@@aarongarza4769 I’m not even talking PS5 or anything. I’m just talking about ANY other consoles. SNES, Gamecube, hell, virtual boy? I mean I know his channel’s name is grounded in the N64 but I just would be curious if he likes any other systems. I was around 12 years old when the N64 came out and I played it a lot…. but I also think the systems games don’t really hold up very well. Huge nostalgia, not so evergreen.
What are you guys saying? He's reviewed some modern games... He's just most knowledgeable/passionate about the N64. Imho I trust someone's pedigree more if they are more intimately familiar with the system they are talking about and its library.
@@drgribb If he has I haven’t seen them. I’ll take a deeper dive onto his channel. And again, I wasn’t judging. I was pretty much joking when I said “has he ever played another console”. Like, duh, of course he has.
He played Marsupilami on Switch a few weeks ago
The Raiders of the Lost Carts section was cool. Man I wish we would have got Tomb Raider 64!
Yeah would have been cool, Indiana Jones showed it was possible
I have wonderful news for you N64 Glenn Plant. Out of Print Archive has now uploaded issue #59 of N64 Magazine. You now have all issues of N64 Magazine to do videos on this magazine series.
II want a spell to come back during the n64 age. That particular period was awesome for me. The n64 itself, the school, the friends. All was so fresh and genuine. I'm 40 y. o.
I’m a bit younger but similar age so likely have a similar experience to yourself
So what are the chances of putting together a massive list of all the N64 Challenges from the magazine and doing a CZcams channel wide competition with them?
Yes im game
Did something similar years ago and it didn’t quite work out but I’m still thinking of the format to get it working
An episode about fun cheat codes? Yes please.
Love this idea
Already have a load so might get to work on that idea in the coming months
Great work on these videos! They were an awesome nostalgic trip!
That was cool Glen I do believe you on the n64 mags are high price
Yeah going up in nostalgia value
@@n64glennplant for sure glen
The issue showing Shadowman.
Coincidence, since its just come back to consoles.
Haha I’m waiting to see if nightdive are sending me review codes for series x and switch
I remember being a massive fan of Kimba The White Lion (jungle emperor Leo) when I was a kid and couldn't wait to see the game released. It was unfortunately cancelled at some early stages. There is one video where a demo was played at a convention and that's the only evidence of the game as far as I know that's around
I think I’ve seen that clip too
Remember the gold silver and bronze club.
My best mate was in the silver club and I used to wind him up because another lad I knew was in the gold.
I enjoy these videos. hope you continue and can cover them all!!
I will be yes
The official Nintendo magazine was good as well, at the time it covered N64
Here in the UK it was okay, they were very bias and the writing quality was at times shocking
@@n64glennplant i heard snowboard kids 2 is extremely expensive as it's so rare. Do you have that one?
@@andyhart81 the pal version was only released in Australia and not Europe so we didn’t even get it here in the Uk back in the day.
Loved n64 magazine back in the day. I think I started getting it around no 21ish? Wanted to get the back issues but they were sold out. Tragic
You remember the gold/silver/bronze challenges?
Yeah they were in issue 13 onwards
Ah yes, another excellent Glen video on the N64 magazine, can't get enough 👌
Couple of weeks till the next one now
@@n64glennplant looking forward! Out of curiosity, what other N64 magazine do you recommend?
Body Harvest is the closest We ever got to GTA64 & to be honest I'm curious to know if there ever were plans to bring GTA to the N64?
No. At the time they had no way to store something as big as a GTA64 on a N64 cart.
Well dma (now rockstar) made both so technically this is the first 3d attempt by them
Love these vids. Makes me wish I kept all my copies but my mum threw them out when I moved out 😅😅
At least now there’s great digital copies for free but I know what you mean
Another Video with Goemon so quickly? Very informative and great choice in music. Subscribed
Love these, pity we can't get some of the writers input on the videos....kind of like a dvd directors commentary.
The N64 was kind of a strange console of the day I bought one thinking this is the most powerful console and so I expected multi plat games to come out on it.
Games like Tekken, The Capcom fighters, Tomb Raider I was really excited to think what they would have been like on the N64.
Coming from the Snes the CD consoles while great had some minor annoyances with regards to CD loading so I was thinking now that the games are on cartridge the loading would be eliminated for some of my favourite games like Street Fighter Alpha 2.
That generation is one of the most interesting for that reason though since while they all had some shared releases the Saturn , PS1 and N64 all have vastly different libraries
Yeah I think it was the last proper generation of gaming where there was actually big differences between systems
Fantastic video, as usual!
Thank you 🙇♂️
So much Goemon content recently got me thirsty! I had this and got fighters destiny because of that massive ad 😂 ahh to be 15 again
What a time it was hey
The first issue I bought.
Was a great entry point
Still musters up hype - even though I played the games :)
Haha I know right
yeaha😃 perfect friday video🙂
Thank you
@@n64glennplant no thx are needed PAL😆😃
I bought the Official Nintendo magazine
Shame, but at least now you can attone for your sin and read this superior magazine 👍
take me back im not done!
Next episode will be in a few weeks
Bedtime stories for adults 👍
Haha that’s one way to look at this but listening to me whilst in your Jim jams is also concerning 😉
Love me some Ganbare Goemon!!
What is the difference between "N64 Magazine" and "N64 Pro" magazine?
Everything is different 👍
Thanks for the response, Glenn. I figured they were different things, but I didn't quite understand in what specific matters they differed. I'll have to go through both magazines in the digital archive and check for myself. The resemblance of the logos caught my attention. Did the same people make them both?
First!
Wooooo
