Mind you, I’m 68 years old. But I remember when I was 7 and caught a Northern in our little cabin lake outside of Duluth. It was a skinny little thing but my dad let me keep it. I was shaking with weird excitement and the photo my dad took of me holding it up caught my equally weird expression. It’s a classic. And yes, we ate it. My dad wouldn’t have it any other way. With bones. ❤️❤️ A thousand thanks to you both who continue to make me look back to my amazing dad and how he would have so loved you.
Precious memories!!! Love hearing it, delighted! God bless you & yours ❤️❤️🙏☝️
Nothing on TV in the UK this evening and I been thinking to my self its about tile for simple Living Alaska to release a video. Thank you.
Spy who loved me on ITV!
TA Outdoors is another great channel. His Dad is hilarious!
Never anything on the telly here in the UK 😂
And even if there was, I'd much rather watch Eric and Ariel!
Try smacking the top of the television and then cracking open a beer.
In the Netherlands it is the same…..nothing on the tv! Like any other day of the week….
99% of watching “tv” for me is spent on YT/Netflix and all other things like that. I only watch tv when I know there is a nice film on or a tv show I like.
Wish there was a 24/7 simple living Alaska channel 😂✌🏻😜
It’s sad to see Bo struggle, old age catches us all. We just lost one of our ACD’s we got both of them at 8 weeks that was 18 years ago the surviving sister is also struggling as well. They become your kids cherish the warm days for Bo’s old bones. Having the pleasure of your videos since you guys left Oregon the fact Bo and Bandit are almost with you guys no matter the time of year or the weather says it all about your guys character 👍🇺🇸🎣
Eric and Arielle it a couple of years and I must say that I've watched nearly every episode that you have released on the channel and it never gets boring! Really really enjoy watching.
New thought about it before while watching your channel, but my youngest great granddaughter's name is also Arielle. Never heard that name before and now know two people.
You're truly living the dream. Even the mosquitos don't seem to spoil the experience. Thanks for bringing us along.
Tip for the jet foot... instead of replacing the liner, sand most of the grooves out and use the shims to raise the impeller to a business card clearance. You dont have to replace it till you cant shim it anymore.
I'm surprised you two don't wear bug nets. They are worth their weight in gold in such conditions! You can enjoy your activities in total comfort.
I’ve recently been going through some issues with my health. Watching your videos almost wipes away my worries and calms my spirit. I love the simplicity and authenticity of your videos...they take me back in time to a simpler way of living. Thank you for being a comfort in my life during a difficult time for me. ❤️
I found them when I was laid up after a bad car accident. I agree. The videography is amazing and just keeps getting better.
Many Blessings
Bless you and your health many prayers
I've been disabled for 10 years. Watching them reminds of how life used to be.
Ditto to that post
My favourite part was a hungry Eric saying the fish taco was HIS right before he gave it to Ariel 😂 true love right there ☺️ Really felt it when you lost the first batch of fish! Whenever I forage food I immediately almost taste it and start imaging all the ways to cook it so I can only imagine the disappointment ! Turned out well in the end though ❤️
Poor old Bo @8:38 .. I know the feeling when a flight of stairs seems like Mt. Everest .. hang in there buddy❤🐾🐶
I enjoy seeing your weather reports including the time of sunrise/sunset. Please consider including them more often. Much love to you all!
Aw Bo is such a good boy. I’d highly recommend giving him full spectrum CBD oil on the daily for his joints! It literally changed my 21year old cats’ life, he can now jump on the bed again with ease and everything. Love your doggos I can’t wait to move up to Alaska someday 😍🙌🏽🐺🌲
You two are the best, you bring us so much serenity in these difficult times!
Thank you for taking the time to include us in your trips to the cabin.
I can’t think of anything better than spending a Saturday night being part of your adventure! Thanks for sharing. 💕💕
Yes indeed!
" It was as round as a human thigh!" 😆 Love fishing stories
This couple is very interesting. They are the most collaborative, industrious and productive folks that I have ever seen. The videos give me a wonderful window into what I wish my world could be like... if I was only 40 years younger with their energy, strength and endurance. Informative, inspiring, peaceful and quaint. I just discovered their channel yesterday and I have been watching them for hours over the past day. They will make wonderful parents to some very lucky children some day.
The underwater fishing footage was absolutely amazing!!!!!
It is amazing right? For a second I thought it was a frame still and when it shoot away it scared me 😂
Ive been fishing my whole life, pike as well. The reason why you're catching so many big pikes is the time. They are extremely active around twilight, as they prefer colder water (around 15°C).
They, especially the larger ones, will simply hang out in deeper waters until it cools down, and then come up once the sun is starting to fade and the water becoming cooler again.
So my tip for future trips: Go for other wish while its sunny, go for pike at dusk.
Me too, Pike are my all time favorite freshwater fish!
@@frederickmoller but Pike are invasive and they must be kept, no catch and release pike in Alaska. It's probably same in other areas/States. In NY they are in Bear Mountain streams for sure, remembering catching those vicious fish, not my fav but when off duty, not commercial fishing, we had our fun recreationally. I absolutely enjoyed this episode, I was rooting for them to catch the "monster".
I’ve always hated pike, but they’re fun to catch. Always caught the big ones on simple spoons in the middle of the lake.
I will never forget the first pike I caught, on Lake Champlain, Vermont side, when I was ~9 years old. Awesome experience!
your excitement is so contagios , i miss those days thanks for sharing
The first minute plus of footage of this video is just "WOW".
I'm so happy every time you upload, and enjoying very much this alaskan summer all the way to Germany!
Thank you for sharing it with us and keep on doing what you're doing! :)
Greetings to you and my homeland..born German my parents are German lived there for 31 years (NRW) immigrated to the states almost 14 years ago! Stay blessed 💕
Really miss gersmannn this is it
You videos is always enjoyable to me, the view of the lake when you were fishing is more than beautiful, it's extremely awesome and your videos are always the best in showing us how we are blessed with such a pretty vivid nature and we should be thanking God for it every moment of our lives.
I'm so glad you share your life with all of us. Thank you!🎉❤😊
Thanks again, my friends.
Just enjoyed a forty minute cool weekend on top of the one unfolding here.
So glad you both had a great fishing experience. It was a well deserved treat with all the hard work you two do. Bo and Bandit always warm my heart ❤️
Breathtaking light at midnight! Still wish I could see it one day. Love the episodes at the lake cabin! 🧚♀️🐞
Beautiful! Man those fish! 😍
What the..an actual human thigh? 😳
Thanks for taking us along!
MY FAVORITE CHANNEL HANDS DOWN! I told my husband "sorry babe SLA has a new video gotta go in and watch it". 🙂 Absolutely love your fishing/cabin trip video's. You guys are SO fun to watch!!! #addictedtosimplyliveingalaska P.S. I hope you guys decide to put out a recipe book. Love our calendar but would LOVE LOVE LOVE a recipe book with your homemade hamburger buns, tomatillo recipe, cowboy candy oh I could go on and on and on. Great job guys on this video!!
I'd buy that cookbook in a heartbeat!
And the dip!
@@sherryllynnjones7077 agreed 100% or their sushi oh my word!
I would love one as well!
It never gets old watching all your adventures! Great watching you two catching fish! Thanks for taking us along!
I actually swatted by my face when you guys were talking about the mosquitoes. They are horrible here in Minnesota as well. They are missed in the Winter…
It really is amazing how quickly it just becomes green everywhere!!
Good evening from Canada! I've never commented before but am a long time watcher. Lots of great pike info here for sure, but having lived in a mecca for pike all my life my only meager advice is that if you want the biggest (i.e. The Beast) of pike (as water temperatures warm up) the best way is to drop a dead bait (e.g. smelt or other local fish - 8-10") on the bottom and wait. Boring as hell but super effective. The big boys are mostly scavengers and not hunters. You guys are livin' the dream, thanks for sharing with us.
I hope they say if that works or not - and if they tried it!
That would be so fun to know!
I know I always say this here but the cabin videos are my favorite! For some reason it makes me feel like I'm also on a weekend getaway.
Ohhh I just love watching you guys live off the land. Those pikes were awesome!! Great job. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us.
N.Pike are always fun to catch & eat ! Those pesky Y-Bones, I was taught twice, and forgot twice ! I don't catch too many where I live ! I love you guys, you are down to earth REAL PEOPLE , DOING REAL TRIPS IN THE WILD !!! I'll keep watching, if you keep posting your video's !
What beautiful scenery!!!😍😍😍 That fishing was intense!!!😎😎😎 I Love it when y'all get shots of the planes landing and/or taking off from the water!!!💯💯💯 Much Love from FL 💖💞🌴💖💞🌴💖💞🌴
Another vid from my favorite channel you guys are spoiling us! Excited to watch this adventure of yours after I just got done spending 7hrs in the garden repurposing materials etc to build my own tomato and cucumber cages (several!!! 60 tomato plants and 20 cucumbers etc) I’m beat from the east coast heat and starving lol looking forward to homemade chicken and shrimp fajitas, a glass of wine and your video! Sending many blessings 😊
Thanks for another great trip! I truly enjoy how genuinely excited you two are awhile catching fish! Can’t wait to see how the pickled pike turns out.
What a good life . Just keep safe always. Thanks for sharing your good life. Love from the Philippines 🇵🇭
Happy Midsummer from Finland 🇫🇮❤️
hyvää päivää from 🇨🇦🤩
Gosh I love you guys! My all-time favorite channel. Sure wish I was there with you fishing!
Y’all are such a beautiful couple. Y’all make a wonderful team. God bless you both.
The editing on this one is amazing guys. Thanks for the consistently amazing content!
Thank you-I NEEDED your post today!!!
Mississippi watching
I always enjoy watching you two and your fur babies. Thank you for the awesome video.
Setting the hook to fast wait like two or three second or until you feel weight on the line. Love your videos
"Pretty painful when it hits you in the face and you're going 30 mph" oh man!! That is rough. Super excited to do this with my partner and have some kind of fishing cabin experience(s) someday too. Really loved this video, all the ups and downs made it exhausting for the family I'm sure! But those tacos! 👌
Is Bo doing okay? I love his big old face and gentle disposition. I hope he’s okay. Great video!
I so love watching u both fish.back in the day my husband and I went fishing often.now he has gone I get the pleasure of watching u both
Absolutely beautiful, you two have a great life and I hope you enjoy it for years to come ❤️👍
Hello from Virginia. Canning mustard greens today. Raspberry jam too. I have chickens now. Think they will lay soon. 6 hens 1 rooster. You have given me inspiration.
We also have beef cattle
Love these videos. You guys live an incredible adventure every day. Thanks for sharing it with us!
Looked like an awesome trip.
Good video on how to fillet Pike into 5 boneless filets out there by Thundermist Lures. Worth a watch!
Ahhh Ive been waiting for this trip. You guy should make it a tradition!
Love what y'all do! Thank you for sharing your life with us. Cheers!🍻
Your Drone takes beautiful videos, thanks for sharing with all of us as we really enjoy your company!
Absolutely love you guys!!!! The length of your videos is amazing thank you I learn so much!!!
Stop whatever im doing when a new vid pops up in my notifications... love the content guys.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful life with all of us.
I have a friend that is from Alaska- she said she really misses it so much. She wishes she was still there. Can’t wait to give her the name of your channel, think she would love it!
I love how creative y’all got with editing the introduction. Great photos & musical accompaniment. Great job with intro.!
Love the drone shot as you guys were leaving. Cool perspective on what the territory looks like up there!! How beautiful!! Was hoping to see the rocky creek you have to wade through😉. Thank for sharing your life up there.
Always fun to go off to a cabin! Love it when y'all go out there! Reminds me of my childhood going to our cabin!!
I could only imagine how hard it is to fish and film....but thank you for doing it! I LOVE the real life filming....odd camera angles, and all. It really takes me back to being on the water fishing!
And the clear water allows us to see your fish also.
“We tried everything in the Tupperware.” Got a good chuckle out of that😂.
Thanks for the great videos. My long time fishing buddy and I head out to Kitimat tomorrow for salmon, halibut, and ling cod, prawn and crabs. Looking forward to it after a 2 year hiatus.
Ohhh that sounds amazing have a great time..now I want crabs 🦀
Such a paradise. Love how respectful you are of the region and the resources.
I almost cried when you guys lost the fish.So glad Eric caught a big Pike. The fish tacos looked so delis 🇭🇲😄🐟
My mom's salmon ball / spread:
-Smoked salmon - PNW style, not lox'y stuff! you can sub canned salmon + add liquid smoke after add the cream cheese if you can't find good smoked stuff at a reasonable price nowadays.
-cream cheese
-chives or green onion or red onion cut fine
-capers - sometimes, she didn't use these all the time. Well chopped if the large ones. Sometimes she would just put these around the edges of the salmon ball for those who liked them.
-parsley - cut fine.
mix thoroughly, form into ball or place in nice container and refrig overnight to get best flavor.
so so so good, it's simple, but the smoke is everything w/ the chives. Grew up in the Seattle area and every get together mom brought this, we never brought any home. It was always gone down to the last scrape.
It's pretty much how people would eat smoked salmon on a cracker when I was growing up - but just mixed together so you don't have to take the time to make your cracker layers all nice! No worrying that something will roll off before it gets to your mouth ;-)
Love your videos!!! On your hollow body frog, count to three before you set the hook. Your hook up ratio will improve greatly. I have been fishing only scum frogs for bass going in ten years now! The three count separates fish dinner from moose burgers!!!
Bandit just kills me with his energy level. I wish I could have the energy level he does at his age. Great trip! Glad y'all got some pike this time around. If it weren't for the chickens, do y'all think you'd consider spending a winter at the cabin? Also, what happened to Bo's back? Hope he's ok.
Was just seeing his back too. Hope it wasn't for removal of cancer or something bad like that
ja man......bo........
last dance i think.......
can't take no more losses of furry buddys........
✌
You love this Channel too! Woot woot! This is how I imagine life.
That’s exactly what I want to know, what happened to Bo‘s back? Both are so cute and I Hope everything is fine?
@@TheWickerShireProject - Yes. I've been with these guys since they first moved to Alaska. Great people in my opinion.
6:48…I count 15 babies. A very productive year for mom and dad!
Another excellent video that checks off all the boxes for why people love SLA!
WoW your luck really changed after you made a proper offering of your dinner (even when it was an accident) to the water spirits.
The one thing I don't miss about my three years in Alaska is those damn Mosquitoes!!!! Another great fishing trip. The Pike fishing makes me wish I was back in Alaska!
We call mosquitoes the "city birds" where I live because our town is surrounded by wetlands. When we moved here, the neighbor called them "bats" and said "don't get carried off by one." I thought he was joking until dusk. Lol
I just love watching your vlog. Besides being such an adorable couple, I've learned so much about Alaska from you all. I also love the education you both give to me from gardening tips to how to clean a fish. Not that I'll ever use that tip, haha, but nonetheless good to know. I think it's the time for you all to build a huge room addition to your homestead cabin. You can add an inside shower, sink, and commode, but still have them supplied with water like you do now. You need that for the winter time. Enjoyed the video! 💞👏🙏
ENJOYED WATCHING YOU GUYS, THANKS ON YOUR VLOGS FEELS LIKE WE WERE ALONG WITH YOU BOTH AND THE DOGGIES. FROM MESA ARIZONA GOD BLESS..
End of first night and sadly no luck😢. “Tried everything in the Tupperware” that gave me a chuckle 😂
The plane landing on the water reminds of the time you came to the cabin, by plane, cool experience.....the drone shots were awesome 👌 Don't kick yourself over lost fish, it's food for everything else, but lesson learned....Spectacular vlog tonite 😀
Have to say, how good has your videography and editing got?!? 😍
You know for many years I had the dream of coming to Alaska, I wanted to hunt and fish and just tough the elements! Just basically test myself against the hostile environment, but you know, life has its own plan, and, in my case, it didn't include a trip to Alaska!
I thoroughly enjoy the video's you guys put out, it's almost like I get to enjoy the Alaska experience thru your lives, thanks so much!
You guys got the life. The pikes were great but the bugs are beat. Great vid.
sad to see all those damaged trees .. Great Video as always ! Oregon Loves you !
Thanks to the spruce beetle.
What happened to Bo? Noticed his back has been partially shaved off…
Wow! Love your channel. Beautiful filming, editing, the drone footage is amazing. You two are truly talented. Blessings and much aloha from Oregon.☮️🌎💜🌎☮️🤙
You guys have an excellent outdoor channel. Everything is real and raw! Love the excitement for the fish you guys catch!! The meals always look great as well!
Curious about what happened to Bo's back?
The fishing was awesome. Do you leave a light at the trail head so you can find it in the dark? Perhaps you can make up an all natural bug repellent? My parents toured AK and also talked about the voracious mosquitoes. One tour bus was stopped dead by a moose leaning against the engine to drive off the biters. Will you be going back to some glaciers? Those are my favorite videos.
I saw Beau’s back too. I hope they respond.
I saw it too and posted the same question. Hope he is okay. Looks like he had surgery
it seems to be a small skin issue ;) i'm glad it's nothing too serious. I love the 2 doggies
The lure you took off your pole and said it was a crank bait is actually a Kwikfish . Usually used for salmon and steelhead fishing . Just an FYI . Love your show
What a wonderful trip. Thank You for sharing. Looking forward
Love the videos. So much excitement out there. Thank you for bringing us all the great photography ya'll 💐💙🙏🐕🐕
"Bandit, do you wanna..."
Bandit - "Yes"
"Beau, do you wanna..."
Beau - "Nah fam I'm good, you kids have fun"
Another great video. Y’all are by far the ones I look forward to every week. I once had a whole stringer of bass eaten by turtles in Texas. It sucks when you lose fish😤. What happened to my buddy Bo’s back? Did I miss a video?
The hero is the little black duck!!
So jealous Northern is my favorite fish to catch and eat. I don't worry about the Y bones, I cook the fillet and then bend it in half and the bones spring right up. NO FISH MEAT WASTED!!!
Hi guys! Try putting an empty water bottle tied to your fish line so if they fall off again, the air bottle will keep afloat for you to see it. Put bright flag on the bottle too.
Finally an entirely useful comment about the lost line!
Great idea!
I’m so early I can’t believe it. Love y’all 💕✨
Thanks for sharing your experience
You two really get some phenomenal shots of your adventures!! I so look forward to your videos!
