Sam is an awesome gentleman. I had a talk with him about EVs once as well and he’s extremely fair and practical, and I totally agree with his assessment 😊
Having multiple awesome options is GREAT. To think you can buy a practical sedan for a reasonable price that can run low 9s with a full warranty and have basically zero maintenance is incredible.
I still love ICE as well but I’m 100% for having both and equally enjoy them 😊
I 100 percent agree. EVs have their place and I have nothing against them. I'm all for people buying them, I just oppose any government intervention that keeps people from driving ICE vehicles. I'm 44 and I don't think in my lifetime I'll ever be forbidden from driving an ICE car but after I'm gone who knows. Choice is good imo. If I feel compelled to drive my Corvette daily 20 years from now, I'd still like to have that choice.

I built my Electric Smart with a dual engine, AWD Gas/EV, best of both worlds!
Also Electric cars are getting more aftermarket tune options. I have a Steinbauer tune on my EV Smart, 25% more power!!

I still recommend Penrite 600, you can't go wrong with it 👍 Hey I wonder if the round steering wheel could be lighter than that yolk design...do they offer that yet? I seen a Model S (not plaid) here in Australia for $185k AUD with 175,000kms 😢 gorgeous cars

Our brake issues in January were the pads, so we had all 4 replaced. As much as we'd like to go with the Track Pack brakes, they won't fit inside the (faster) 19" wheels, so we won't do those. And Aftermarket brakes are prohibited according to the NHRA Street Legal Rules. So we just limit ourselves to 3 quarter mile passes per hour (5 on the 1/8 mile per hour) and they've been working for okay for over 700 Plaid passes now. (The better fluid certainly wouldn't hurt, but Tesla has topped it off a couple times while at the Service Center and we certainly don't want them to mix different types of fluid, so I asked them how they feel about me changing it with racing fluid and they said: "Your brakes will no longer be covered under warranty".)

@@r3ck17rick7no the track pack brakes are significantly lighter. It also comes with improved suspension calibration and thermal management which could be interesting for drags as well.
Will the thing is you pay for gas or electric it's not free the price on everything keeps going up food, charge cards, the interest rate, to get a sat of tires a good set it like a thousand dollars crazy

I like gas cars. I like electric cars. However, take all the environmental BS out, and electric is clearly "better" from an unbiased standpoint. Instant torque, much more efficient drivetrain, ability to charge at home, ability to run the AC all the time to prevent cabin overheating, fewer points of failure, etc.
On the other hand, I believe that people should be allowed to still buy new gas powered vehicles, and that the government should stop forcing everyone to go hybrid and get rid of V8s and V6s... After all, I do like a good engine sound!

If there were new rules on change things wouldn't change. In a few years there will be plenty of choices for used gas cars. But will you want to pay the gas prices.
Electric cars got over 100 years
We hear that a lot, and while some EV development was done in the early 1900s, it was quickly abandoned and no serious engineering investment occurred for a century. Meanwhile, *billions* are still being spent *every year* across the industry on internal combustion engine development.
“GM will invest $918 million across four of its US sites, of which $854 million will be spent developing the sixth generation small block V8…” - That’s a headline from *January 2023* regarding a single ICE engine from a single company. How about all the 4- and 6-cylinders? And Ford and Dodge and the Germans, Japanese, Koreans, and even Chinese? Many, many, many billions.
PRIOR to Tesla, WHO spent even $100 million on EV powertrain development in the previous hundred years? Anyone? (GMs EV-1 might be the lone exception, but that was quickly killed and they were all collected and destroyed)
That’s what we are talking about here.
Not so much abandoned, as forced... But I get it...
Electric _motors_ have over 100 years. But inverters and li-ion battery technology have just a few decades.
