The fact that United's scouts thought they knew more than Solskjaer did about Haaland, despite the fact he'd managed him for a couple of years and knew what it took to be a United player, tells you everything you need to know. Cannot wait for a new recruitment structure at United, it is going to be a revelation.

Should United consider re employing Ole as manager?
Certainly he know United and the style United want to play with.
Possibly with Ineos in charge of football matters and lessons learned it is worth considering.

@harrydestaffano565 if only it were that simple. Ole isn't going to succeed immediately at Manchester United because he isn't the right profile of manager for us right now. Maybe 5-6 years down the line, when the structures have been tried and tested and we are hungry to win the CL, it would make sense. As for Haaland, it's crazy how he scored 9 goals in a game in May 2019 and United in June 2019 went "nah, I'm good 👍" 💀💀

After being sacked at UTD, Mourinho once said sarcastically that finishing 2nd during his tenure at UTD was one of his greatest achievements in his career. it's funny that the window under Ole when United signed Ronaldo, Varane and Sancho, most people were saying it was a great window and we'd be challenging for the title and Champions League. The video is titled "Man Utd's 2021/22 Transfer Window REVIEW | Ronaldo, Sancho, Varane" if you want to watch if for nostalgia! The only negative thing people were saying then is we didn't get a DM, but we then got Casemiro (as well as the 'generational talent' that is Antony) the following summer window and everyone was happy. Shows how selective some people's memories are.

I think because a lot of us had Ronaldo fever but still some at the time suggested we would have to play a different way under Ronaldo and perhaps his best days were behind him. Sancho is a total mystery to me as to what went wrong. The player from Dortmund he was. However again in hindsight there was talk that even at Dortmund he had to be disciplined and he was disruptive . Perhaps playing with Bellingham, Haaland and the calibre of players he was surrounded by at Dortmund , made him look better than what he actually is. Varane came and was touted as a great signing but still came with injury risks. DM was what a lot of people really wanted before Ronaldo mania took over.

The reality everyone either forgets OR never knew in the first place...
Ole, while out injured in 2004/5, publicly threw his support behind, and was a player's face for MUST (Manchester United Shareholders' Trust), who were strongly anti-Glazer BEFORE their purchase in the summer of 2005. I personally expected that to mean he would never be considered for the manager's job. SAF wanted him as a player when he recovered, though he never got back to 100%. SAF wanted him on his staff, and the Glazers gave him that much, and even allowed SAF the indulgence of his best protege in years to take over the reserve side. But I had always figured once he left for his first proper manger job, he would have been on the Glazers' blacklist and would never be seen near United again. Not at least while the Glazers were owners.
The interim appointment even surprised me. But the results earned the permanent job. But once that was in place, things changed quickly and we can all see it now in retrospect.
Anyone complaining about Ole seeming to be a "Glazer apologist", or seeming to not being capable of - and recently admitting to not being "allowed" to shape the team as he saw fit, right down to player selection, well it seems very clear NOW that the Glazers and the board held a sword over his head the whole time. Honestly, I don't think he had any choices, he was a PR move and a friendly presence to mask over the incompetence and USA-bankster-driven mentality of the boardroom. All with a sprinkle of personal vendetta from the Glazers.
Ole deserved better. I'm glad he got out. Again, hindsight is 20/20, but he was someone the Glazers never liked nor wanted. Mainly because - he was the people's choice. And he supported those who opposed the Glazers in the beginning. And I'm sure he's too much of a gentleman to word it this bluntly. But I'm not lol.

      @user-xk9yx2dl9t Před 2 měsíci +2

"But the results earned the permanent job." I think he lost about the same games as Mourhino did during that season. It was just the first few games during the new manager bounce (once the players started running again, which they stopped doing again to get Ole sacked) that got him the permanent job. The board should have waited until the end of the season to make s decision.

Erling said he was looking forward to beating "that other club, I don't want to say their name" when he was unveiled at City. They dangled carrots in front of United when his agent was still alive to waste United's time. How any United fans or staff can think they missed out on Haaland is mad. actually never thought about the details of why manutd transfers were failing this miserably. kind of eye-opening. only thought that the bosses were incompetent and had too much say. but thinking about it now. changing managers as much with different types of players preferred was just a minor reason. it just baffles me that multiple scouts seem to have a veto, they should be hold in an advisory role nothing else. i mean on the overlap they discussed for quite some time on who should have the last say, the manager or the bosses, head of finance or whomever. and when i watched that i always thought that giving one person the complete power of decision is contraproductive for the simple reason that people tend to be too biased. it just sucks from the point that i think that with how manutd was run the past 4-5 years alone it will take a decade to rebuild the club to be in the position to really compete. obviously not talking about top4 spots but about a possible championship run and only if there will be way more mindbreakingly good decisions than bad transfers. i personally think manutd is comparable to borussia dortmund before they became one of europe's greatest talent improvement systems and it took them almost one and a half decades to establish that (plus they had a shortcut that most clubs will never have going by the name of jürgen klopp). also i don't even get how the premier league is, as a whole, so bad at building up talents, not within the academies but to make the last few steps. just look at carnacho. he is unbelievably gifted but he does only one thing?!?! under sir alex this would have never been allowed.

I understand the manager having a veto in the regards of signing players.. but why in the dunk by b*lls in hot soup would scouts have a veto in regards to player signings?
I scout's job is to scout, report and perhaps recommend and/or not recommend players....
as said, the manager i understand in that regard, especially if it is a first team player, but it must be based on that the scout understands what the team need (closely worked with manager and the other scout to better figure out "what" is needed so the manager doesn't have to see himself if the player suits the squad or not).
The CEO I would also understand having a veto, but that's more in the regards to accepting the transaction more than anything else I would imagine, not actually a veto due to.. "nope.. I don't like Bellingham as a player, so we not getting him free or not" type of veto.
Onto the next topic about Solskjaer, quite honestly, I would think that offering him the role again wouldn't be to stupid (IF ETH doesn't pan out), Solskjaer was on a good track, the players semt more in unison than overall under ETH, the only change there was the "clique" that made problems.. I would imagine with SJR's team around him, he could and can still take United to new heights.
and for those that thought he did a shoite job, until the CR7 signing, I felt that United were slowly progressing towards becoming a unified team on the field, very counter heavy football and laying low, but that also came with the players he had at disposal.
it wasn't until CR7 came that their style went stagnant and from a bit "lay low, soak it up and BAM counter" to just try and swing it in on ronaldo football (I know they didn't just swing it on Ronaldo, but it was a clear difference in the squad that Ronaldo was the striker and he wanted aerial balls more than anything else" type of style.

Hopefully, when Dan Ashworth is coming to Manchester, he can find hidden gems. He will provide 4 more alternatives in case the priority signing gone off the hook.
Do you believe that a manager have the time to scout all the players in the world?
Surely they can't. They need another unit of organization dedicated for this role.
The manager can suggests the name, but need to also specify the attribute of player that they need. For example, they can suggest Bellingham and also a midfield that have high percentage of dribbling and a midfield with high percentage of long passing attribute.
Then, they will search the whole world for that attribute.
Maybe they can find the next unpolished star. Who knows.
But the manager has to know what attribute he wants.

Lets be honest, even if we had signed Haaland, Bellingham, Sancho at that time it wouldn't change the fact that Man Utd needed defense and midfield. The board again neglects players needed over players wanted. In Ole's second season Man Utd signed 3 players on deadline day which was abysmal transferring especially since we had that whole window to sign players. VDB was just another failure that was again used for the media, I am shocked that Ole refused to start VDB for that whole season and the season he left but lets be honest our midfield whether he played or not was still abysmal. In the 3rd season before he got sacked we looked at like we were going in for the title but players again never on the same page and signing players for who they were. Varane and Ronaldo were the past, they left a legacy not many can replicate but it don't mean they'll do it somewhere else. We made them look like europa league players, im still shocked we got 2nd place with mcfred in the mid. Ole was a good manager with abysmal squad and abysmal owners.
