    I agree with what Dusty said on the radio today - something has awakened at Ou.
    I love how the former players are pulling together and it feels like we need someone from the Ou family (Brent Venables) to come straighten this out. I’m really excited about the buzz around the program right now.

    Something non OU fans miss about all this is, LR was starting to feel some heat. Not a ton, but I and a fair number of people had called for the S&C program to be revamped. Lots of complaints about being too soft. I had wondered if Riley had it in him to coach the sort of more physical style that we'll HAVE to play if we want to be able to hang in the SEC and his leaving for USC & the PAC just proves that no, he dosen't. So I'm sure the next coach will address that right up front. And yes, there are some real time pressures regarding the coaching hire. Sooner the better.

      We have to go off of his body of work thus far. Does LR expect to break through barriers at USC? He only just put physical distance between him and competent coaches, he ran the other way. Good luck to him but going to a lesser team in a lesser conference, I'm interested in where this goes.

    • @rodgerbane3825
      @rodgerbane3825 Před 2 lety

      @@oudude8770 Well, I'll give him his due, he is a good offensive mind and a good recruiter and should at least for a year or two be able to keep a lot of talent from Cali that had been leaving the state in Cali, at USC. So we'll see. I still think that as long as Wiley is his S&C guy things will go hard on him when he gets to the playoffs. But just getting there would be a huge step up for USC.

    Comparing the LR episode to the SEC move is a false narrative. OU & TX did not say "Hey, we're going to the SEC - TOMORROW!" No, we said when the contract/GOR expires, unless conditions mandate an earlier withdrawal IAW the contract, then we are moving. That gives the B12 plenty of time to plan and prepare, unlike what LR did. I'm fine with his leaving, as coaches often do, but to obviously neglect his season and players while getting paid by OU and at the same he & his agent (thru his agent) are negotiating his move. The teams bipolar season and assistants wondering what is with Riley, at least the last month or so, is telling. His play-calling looked like he just threw together five plays then ran them over and over. Then to suddenly dump everything plus start yanking recruits is just slimy. You guys are great and I don't miss a podcast.

    Even this scenario is a breach of contract-to wit, Section III, Paragraph G of Lincoln Riley’s agreement with Oklahoma. However, since Riley’s agent isn’t specifically named in the contract, the representative isn’t party to the agreement and can likely skate by saying that he was acting as a rogue and without Riley’s knowledge.

    Win, Lose or Tie: Boomer Sooner Till I Die..I will never drift away from OU as a Fan ever. I don't even bad mouth coaches while they are still on the team i might critique a little play calling or the off field issues from time to time but, I have to say i have had a lot to say for the last two years and possibly the issues and decline since Riley and bedenbaugh split OC duties and the fact Riley hand picked guys(not stoops recruits) seem to keep being unfocused, undisciplined, highly penalized, suspended and arrested. Am i the only fan whom noticed this pattern? The offense with superstar skills players numbers kept declining... Riley seems like his play call tendencies have been figured out by the Dc's of big12. Why KU were so good vs OU. I don't see USC being good anytime soon. Not salty about Riley leaving i honestly stopped believing in him in 2018. P.S i have been a fan for 46 years i am 46 and literally were born into being a SOONER. Fortunate to have Coaches, Ad's Heisman winners and HOF's cross my path and I am so stoked for the future I feel the best has yet, to come. BOOMER!!!!

    Ya A&M had a legit dline,& probably a top 10 roster...& went 8-4...they would've been 10-2,or 11-1 in the Big 12,or especially Pac 12. Like Oregon this year,you can be a bit fraudulent,& sit there at like 9-1,or 10-0 in those leagues. But if you are in the SEC,you almost always gotta be legit to some degree,or you'll have 3 or 4 losses...with the same roster. But if OU got Venables,I think youd actually upgrade at head coach,though ya never know,til he proves it...

    I mean, the Big 12 technically got like 5 years heads up. It's not really the same thing. Most OU fans aren't mad that he's leaving as much as HOW he's leaving. Also, where are y'all getting Spencer Sanders learned to take care of the ball. His team won Bedlam despite him.

    • @willcover6142
      @willcover6142 Před 2 lety

      Media parrot each other. Sanders had a couple good games but in general was the same inconsistent and turnover prone player. His stats are similar to the previous 2 years. His team around him is better.

    He was misleading in all his statements leading up to his decision to leave. He was misleading on his statements on TV with Klatt and the rest regarding that he didnt speak with USC until Sunday (his agents had been dealing with them beforehand). He has been a weasel in his actions and statements.

    Coaching salaries are already hitting critical mass. I honestly think ou is vested right now in caleb Williams, if it wasn't, I think Brent would had been hired by now.... Caleb is the focal point of everything right now.... right now Bob, he is bigger then the school at least for the next few years.

    as far as not having a "heads up" and having notice of LR leaving, and national media saying well its the same "heads up OU and texas gave the conference..... OU AND texas GAVE THE BIG XII 4 YEARS NOTICE. HOW MUCH MORE TIME SHOULD THEY HAVE GIVEN??? 4 YEARS NOTICE.... WE ARE LEAVING.... now we may exit before then, but the big xii had the time needed to "save" the conference and get new teams. so its time to shut up about that.

I'm on the Ruhle / Beamer bandwagon, but I hold out for Belichick or Saban at this point!!! :) I also hold out hope for some OU black book project of a hybrid clone of Bob, Barry, Bud, and Billy Simms that has been in the works to just be unveiled to the world.

    You guys need to start telling people comparing OU going to the SEC with LR going to USC, that OU gave a 4 year notice that they wouldn't be RENEWING their contract with the conference. It's not a lifetime agreement. LR left in the middle of the night. People making that comparison are idiots.

    I’m not buying the Manning thing. If you read the article, the kid did say that Manning “was” the DB coach at OU. But the article goes on to quote the kid saying “”He talked about their track record at Oklahoma for getting DBs drafted…. He said to give them a chance and said they’re about to do something special so I’m going to give them a shot for sure.” I read this as Manning said to give OU a chance because something special is about to happen, I.e., the new coach. He doesn’t need to tell the kid to give USC a chance. The kid has already narrowed his list to include USC.
