  • A video capture card is an input device for converting video signals to digital data that can be uploaded to the internet. It helps gamers, content creators, video production teams, and anyone capture and save their favorite footage for internet use. A video capture card and other accessories like HDMI, SDI, and USB cables make it possible to stream, capture, edit, and share the entire experience whether it's a game, live presentation or performance, business conference, or content creation.

    If I'm not mistaken, my church media dept was able connect a PTZ camera directly to a iMac via USB and it was recognized as a video device in OBS. Is this because the PTZ has an in-built capture card that allows it to be seen as a device?

      USB is the connection you need, either by directly connecting it to the computer or converting another video signal into USB from outputs like HDMI and SDI. This is where the HDMI to USB convertor comes into play.

    • @BZBTVchannel
      @BZBTVchannel  Před 3 lety +3

      Hi, Yes, you can record with your camcorder since it probably has an SD or USB port for recording data too. However, folks using Pan, Tilt and Zoom live streaming cameras typically do not have these Hardware Drive ports as an option with Live Streaming PTZ cameras. So, to record video you will need to send the live stream to a computer that has Video Streaming Software via a convertor/capture device using a USB connection. As well, many live streams are using more than one camera, feeding all video to a switch or a couple of capture devices to switch camera angles. This cannot be accomplished with a USB drive or SD card that has been recorded on. Hope this helps! Thanks for the question!

Most folks will set up multiple cameras for broadcasting using a Video Switcher, Joystick controller and will incorporate an Audio Mixer in conjunction for the live stream show. PTZ cameras are use by folks looking to take their broadcast to the next level, beyond a simple hand held phones capability.

    I want to connect a gaming console (a Switch, which has an HDMI output) to my laptop (which also has an HDMI output) in order to use my laptop like a monitor, but not necessarily record or stream anything. Will a capture card function as an HDMI input so that I can project an external device onto my laptop?

    • @BZBTVchannel
      @BZBTVchannel  Před 3 lety +3

      Hi Gabe, the capture card will indeed allow you to bring the signal into a computer but it's not exactly the same as a monitor. You will have to open the USB feed in a video player on your computer which could introduce latency. This would cause a lag from your control input to what you see displayed on screen. It will work in theory, but your mileage may vary based on the capabilities of your computer and the software you use to view with.

Where one device may support the 50ft HDMI limitations, another device like a Video Switcher meant for a Rack may only support a distance of up to 25ft. Other than DVD players most devices are designed for shorter cable runs, typically under 25ft. Its our experience anything over 20ft may have signal issues. Another factor is the quality of the HDMI cable being installed. If you need to extend your signal you should consider an HDMI extender or Active HDMI cable designed for long distance runs.

      Hi Ky,
      ordinarily you would need a PC or laptop to connect a capture card to so that you can stream the source through a broadcasting software like OBS. That being said, we also offer solutions like our BG-HAVS which will stream directly from the capture card without the need of a computer.

    • @BZBTVchannel
      @BZBTVchannel  Před 2 lety

      Hey Stone Cold, Yes. You can connect your game system to the capture card, HDMI from the game system to the capture card. Then use the HDMI loop output on the capture card to the display. Connect the Capture card to the computer using USB 3.0 cable. But, you will need to download a Software Control Program like OBS Studios to record the game play. Basically you need a software program to connect to the capture card for recording purposes.
