  • Welcome to the video where I show you how to replace the starter on my 2007 BMW 328xi E90. This is by far the fastest method of replacing the starter. I was able to complete this replacement in just over 1.5 hours, but I was also filming the whole time. You do not need to remove the manifold entirely, which is what saves so much time. This will save you up to $1K if you DIY Do-It-Yourself! This will work on N52, N53 and N54 engines from 2006-2012. BMW 328i 328xi 328x 325i 325xi and more. E90, E91, E92, E93, E46, E60

What an amazing very well detailed video. I was going back and forth on this job and I feel confident doing it how you showed it instead of unplugging a lot of wires.

The toughest part is the bolt that is up next to the firewall! Thanks for watching! Let me know how it goes!

What happened to the Breather Hose?
Also 11mm 12point wrench is the best tool to get to the rear bolt on the back side of the starter.

thanks this video helped me a lot. I had a really hard time getting the bottom starter bolt threaded in otherwise all went pretty smooth.

The firewall makes that one a little tricky! Happy it helped!

Don't need to remove the wipers or the cover for that, there's a cap that you pop off to access the bolt for the strut brace. Great video though!

So I could use the same starter on the 328i and 328xi?

Very easy but you have a really really bad oil filter housing leak!!

Bad procedure, the bolts are aluminum one time use torque to yield and must be tightened to 15 ft-lb and then 180 degrees of rotation.

Still going after 25,000 miles! I guess I did something right! Thanks for watching!

I’ve personally spoke with two BMW master techs, and they never changed the bolts with no issues.

Plus 180 makes it tighter yet. Why not just use a higher ft-lb spec in the first place? Makes no sense. . .
