- Colorado Avalanche prospect Nikolai Kovalenko has touched down in Denver and will be joining his new Avalanche teammates very soon. But the question now is what to do with him?
The Avs look to complete their four game road trip by winning all four games. They can accomplish that with a win Tuesday night in St. Louis. What can we expect between the two teams where the game has great meaning for both clubs.
And it is rumored that the NHL will release a reality style of show on Amazon next season that will follow the lives of up to 12 different players. Who do we and our Subtext people think would be great to cast?

Welcome to the best hockey community in the United States Kovi!
Удачи вам с нашим Нижегородским бойцом!
I think it's worth remembering how Bednar brought Makar into the league. He limited Makar's exposure to dangerous situations. They were playing at home, so Bednar had last change, and chose the most favorable matchups. Makar came on for offensive zone faceoffs against good matchups. Every decision Bednar made for those first couple of games with respect to Cale were about positioning him for success and playing to his strengths.
I suspect Kovalenko will not play until they're at home. He won't be on the PK. He won't be on the ice for faceoffs in the defensive zone.
The strength of his game is covering a LOT of ice with a high motor/relentless forecheck. I'd expect him to be smashing in the corners after a face-off loss, keeping Columbus, Pen, and Habs defensemen on their heels trying to exit the zone. He should be able to create turnovers and scoring chances.
Welcome aboard Nikolai Kovalenko with Logan O Connor out for the year your much needed
Put him in coach this dude is playoff hockey written on his forehead. So pumped it has finally happened feels like Christmas this year
IMO he's quickly an impact player
He does look like a wrecking ball and could be a solid addition to the 4th line if called upon. I do like the idea of giving Cogs and Parise some rest to allow the Avs to get a good look at him prior to the playoffs starting.
This Colorado Avalanche team has been on absolute tear since the trade deadline. Could we imagine seeing a full healthy roster come Playoff Time 😮….. Look out West this Avs team is a coming💪🏻
Whatever you do NHL, DONT involve Mackinnon or McDavid in the reality show. Neither of them want it and its like pulling teeth just to get a good interview with them lol
Remember the Zadorov comments on Mack, he might be entertaining.
So excited just to see this dude in a blue and burgundy jersey. Let’s hope he levels up quickly
Watch Kovalenko CZcams highlights. His hockey sense is off the charts, playmakes with speed, good stick board play, and dog on the bone in front of the net. A true Av, now let's see if it nhl worthy
Коваленко очень отлично покажет себя Россия Нижниц Новгород желает удачи
As for NHL Reality Show, not to knock your knock on Nate, but I think they would want to target superstars or well-known names, not 3rd lines. Nate"s work ethic and dedication to be the best are probably what views would watch, especially young hockey players. Talent just doesn't do it alone. For me, I would be interested to see top-notch players, fighters, and players on hard roads to nhl.
wood - colton - kovalenko is only right answer
The only “right answer” at this point is getting him some time over the next month to see where he fits and how he adapts to the NHL game. He’ll have to adapt quickly to the NHL to bump Parise off that line. Definitely excited to see how this goes.
You’re so right. Trouba on the ice is a real piece of work. Torts gets suspended and fined 50k for not leaving the bench, trouba two hand chops off someone’s head and doesn’t get a penalty.
One thing about a series like this is that it could absolutely boost interest. While players like Mackinnon and McDavid may pop because of the talent, but neither are going to provide the personality you would want. Bedard will be there for sure. If I was picking an avs player I would vote Mikko or preferably Landy (because he WILL be back)
Never really understood the Kovalenko hype, seemed a little over the top. However his highlights are impressive and they play hard in Russia. But we are THE fastest team in the NHL. Period. Best in the world. Hopefully he can fit right in. But we need to stay realistic that we have a very deep bench, he will see the ice time, but I doubt he is a missing link to the puzzle. After that last oilers game, our new trades were the right choices.
NK51 was the BEST player on Torpedo & last season top 10 in KHL scoring. I fully expect him to be a scoring option in COL. He has strong, former NHL mentors in dad & Igor Larionov. He was born North Carolina when dad played for the Canes. I think he'll make a seamless transition, earn a playoff spot, & make matchups impossible against the Avs.
Picturing "Slap Shot" as a fine example of an NHL reality show.
If they’re doing a series I want to see Torts and Patty Roy (although most the episodes would be censored)
Would also be interested from an Avs perspective. Landy and the tolls hockey has and what he’s doing to get back to the game
Also. Pretty sure Cale is getting married this summer something around that, newly weds and hockey
Sam Girard or Nuke would be great and interesting especially with players assistance program IF they’re game to open up about it
He should be in the line up most nights, and be filling in whenever someone has the mysterious LBI otherwise find a healthy scratch
I think Avs have a more physical team from the last time they played the blues, hopefully That translates to a W
I think it’s clear that kovalenko plays potentially a big role with LOC out the remainder of the season. Like stepping in hopefully to a third line role. That or 4th obviously.. I think Zach earns the third line and wood gets bumped to the 4th. But both are interchangeable for the most part. And Kov slots in wherever. But he almost surely plays consistent 5-8 min a night and as well in playoffs. He’s most likely the best man for the job hence him coming in now.
NHL reality show? Hmm, it won’t come close to matching f1. Just a dif production potencial with f1 and racing but it for sure will be good for the sport. Assuming a good studio produces it. Netflix would be #1. And it should be the most spunky players.. so the rat, Crosby/mack in the summer ep. But the show would need to be this time of year or last few weeks of reg season. Then through playoffs and finals. It’s all about sticking with the teams that make it to the next rounds and to the finals. But season one would be a handful of broad eps then to focused on playoff teams though to winning the cup. It’s very clear on the structure.
Can't take these final games for granite but there's also room to get a lil schwifty y'all. SHOW ME WHAT YOU GOT!
Take these games for granite haha I gotta use that one, love it
@@MrZulusniper wish I could take credit but it's all Rick and Morty. Shaggy is a fan & drops R&M nuggets from time to time😁
Its not garbage time, its second preseason
Loveland for few games.
People would probably enjoy the Landy recovery story
Here's the thing: Nate's never going to do something like a reality show because it wouldn't fit with the personality he chooses to show to the public. By all accounts I've seen of people who know him in real life and based on the days when he was new to the team and a lot more goofy and open with the fans and media, he's a pretty fun and interesting guy, but he also strikes me as a little shy and it seems like now he's much more buttoned up and reserved after years of having people drag him for the stuff that makes him good at his job. He seems like he pretty much despises the media obligations that go along with NHL life; dude just wants to do his job and do it well and not have to constantly come up with sound bites for the same questions over and over and really, I can't say I blame him. He's far from boring, but he gives nothing of substance to the media because often when he has he's gotten skewered for it. I think if he'd be willing to show who he actually is and drop what I would guess to be the deliberate and carefully curated "hockey robot" persona that he adopts when he has to do interviews and stuff, he'd be a good watch. He's not going to do that, and that's his prerogative; nothing wrong with trying to keep your personal life separate from your professional life. Just watch him bristle when people bring up chickpea pasta or carbs in an interview; after the whole "expose" interview thing from Zadorov got out, he got roasted and became the butt of a lot of silly jokes and criticism...people making memes, trying to call him 'abusive' and a 'toxic teammate', saying he had an eating disorder, etc. I've heard him say in interviews that it was sort of funny at first but it went on for far too long and got bothersome. If I had to endure a bunch of people poking fun at me or outright attacking me on social media over my food choices and things I do in my life to genuinely try and always get better at my job, I'd shut down and give everyone the bare minimum, too.
TL;DR: I'll eat my hat if I ever see him willingly do a reality show, and I don't blame him for not wanting to. I wouldn't want to either. You do you, buddy. Keep being good at ye olde hockey and leave the silly media stuff to the others.
(And if I had to pick Avs guys who would be good for this...Mikko, Landy, Cogs, Cale, and Toewser would be my first choices.)
With regards to the reality show, and as a big Motorsports fan, the only thing the reality shows have brought to the table IMHO is a bunch of fans of the drama and entertainment, not fans of the sport itself. Some drivers in NASCAR and F1 have labeled the shows as being a distraction. Not sure how I feel about it. The exposure is cool, but at what cost? A bunch of contrived drama for entertainment sake? At the risk of sounding like an azzhole, the people who really follow the sport and know the intricacies can pick apart those shows with lightning quickness for what they are. Entertainment for the casual, and not a true reflection of the sport.
I dont think you could do the series without Naz. It'd feel wrong.
For the reality show i would vote for: Lehky, Manson, Johnson or Cogs. 1 of those 4 guys. Each displays character on the ice, and a little off it too, and they arnt the stars. I think the highlight of this particular show should be lesser known guys.
so a 3 team central div playoff race is garbage time hockey? you must have been so board that last game against the oilers...
He isn’t the brightest sometimes…. I mean most of the time
Either is this guy spelling bored, board. Takes one to know one, I guess. 😂
I used board as a pun. Glad you saw that.
@@tylerrussell7545his intro irritates the shit out of me. From that stupid nickname to his dumb hand gestures. Once you see it you can’t unsee it and it’s annoying af
😂 I was thinking the same thing. I was trying to figure out what he meant by garbage time.... The end of games in a blow out? Because the way this season is ending isn't garbage games what so ever
“Garbage time of the season”
What a horrible take. How do they find these guys? 😂
Shame he can't play LW, Miles Wood has been quiet and needs to feel some breath on his neck.
Please don’t NHL …..🤦🏼♂️
Fans can just check out behind the scenes features on their Favorite Franchises off youtube. But when the League sees Dollar signs they run to them 💯
Yea put Nuke on a TV show it'd be called First 48 for his dates disappearing
It’s a trap game. 😅
