Debating the “deals” at Scotiabank Arena is hilarious
I dropped 40 for a couple veggie dogs and a coke at Rogers over the summer. Reinforced my idea of eat before or after. It's nice to eat at the game but not that nice.
Marcel Dionne played 4 seasons with the Wings lol (he was drafted 2nd overall by them). Also scored 121 points for them one year...
AND he finished his career with the Rangers.

I like that the most heated they got wasn't because of any of their NHL hot takes, but when they were talking about food.

And then you realize that they have an insane list of players you're leaving off. Abel, Delvecchio, Lindsay, Sawchuk, Kelly, Shanahan, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, etc.
Lindsay and Datsyuk HAVE to be there too. Lindsay literally has an NHL trophy after him and Datsyuk literally made new dekes used today.
A couple of things. A few weeks ago I bought a last minute ticket to the Sharks game (1 minute AFTER puck drop) for 9 USD (12.15 CAD). I then bought popcorn and a beer and it cost me 27 USD (36.45 CAD).
When the Sharks played Vancouver back in November and lost 10-1 that one goal for the Sharks happened when the score was 10-0 with 3 minutes 48 seconds remaining. The goal was arguably goalie interference but the Canucks didn't challenge despite it likely costing Demko the shutout.

As far as the opening conversation goes, the only other two teams with a similar Mount Rushmore to the Oilers & Penguins are the Red Wings (Howe, Lidstrom, Yzerman, Datsyuk/Fedorov/Delvecchio) and the Bruins (Orr, Bourque, Esposito, Bergeron/Chara/Bucyk/Shore).
Canadiens a little shorted by the list being capped at four, if you went ten deep on legends then they'd be in the mix.
Lafleur, Richard, Beliveau, and then choose any of Dryden, Plante, Roy, Robinson, Harvey, etc?
If putsburg were to commit to a rebuild, they could get alot for malkin, guentzel, rust, accari, smith, rakkel, a few of the defensive peices, jarry. You could get great return for all of those rn. I know that would absolutely gut the team. But youd also have so many 1st and 2nd round picks and prospects from the return they could choose to let a 4 year rebuild simmer or trade it all and sign players until your ready to go in a year.
Y'all might be too young to remember Mugsy Bouges or Spud Webb. 5'3 and 5'6 respectively. Spud Webb won the dunk contest one year I want to say.

The Lafreniere vs Slafkovsky debate at 34:50 is silly. It's like the Kreider vs Gallagher debate from a few years back all over again lol.
If you compare Laf's first 95 games to Slafkovsky's first 95 games, Laf has 32 pts (20g/12a) with TOI/GP of 13:42 and 0 PP production (lol David Quinn). On the other hand Slafkovsky in his first 95 games has 40 pts (16g/24a) with TOI/GP of 15:12.
Laf was roadblocked and getting 3rd line minutes behind Panarin/Kreider for years and still doesn't get PP ice time. Just this season alone - Laf has 73:19 of PP TOI over 56 GP, while Slafkovsky has 161:17 of PP TOI over 56 GP.
People just look at the statsheets / eyetest but don't consider the context lol. They are finally giving Laffy top minutes (avg 17~ mins TOI/GP, just like Slafkovsky) with stronger players and it's not a surprise that he's now looking like a key part of the Rangers offense.
Thinking Matthews has a better overall game than McKinnon while completely failing to account for Clutch and Leadership Factors is the most myopic Leafs homer take I've heard since the last time these homers all sat in a round.
You should check the food prices at Mercedes Benz Stadium. We’re watching the USWNT there in April and plan to just eat there all day because the food is priced so well.
Dionne played 4 seasons in Detroit, 11 full seasons in LA and most of a 12th there finished in NYR and another 2 in NY

Video idea: create the best 23-man team possible with the goal of winning as many cups as possible over the next 5-7 years. Gotta be under the cap, so taking into account age, term, next contract (especially for ELC’s - :ahem: bedard…), “cup pedigree”, size, etc.

To be honest, i thought draisaitl was better than matthews too. I was not mad about the pick tho, they all elite players. I just let recency bias get the better of me, auston is so unreal man absolutely unbelievable. Keep up the good work guys, love man from the netherlands! I don't think the Stadium Series has to have some special meaning to it. It's just outdoor hockey games, and most hockey fans like seeing those. Theyre fun to watch even on TV. I don't care how many times its been done. I wanna see several on the schedule every season.
I'm not gonna come out and say Jack Hughes will have a better career than Connor Bedard, but I feel like Hughes is getting massively underrated even in this specific comparison. I think its a pretty safe to say the Devils struggles this year are pretty closely tied to Hughes' availability. The guy was looking like a top 5 player in the League before he first went down. And with the way he plays, I can't see any reason to doubt his ability to sustain that production. His skill attributes are insane and I think he has several 100pt seasons ahead of him.
Sometimes I think we overrate how good guys are in comparison to others just based on how productive they are in their first season. Dont get me wrong, its super impressive what Bedard is doing at his age and his size... but being a late bloomer does not mean youre automatically a lesser player than the guy who lit the League up in his rookie year. Just look at Nathan MacKinnon. Does anyone doubt that hes a top tier player now?
I see no reason why Jack Hughes and Connor Bedard shouldnt be in the same tier even a few years down the line. I guess it really just depends on health.

It's so crazy that Matthews always the get argument that he's a top defensive forward, but there's nothing that supports that argument at all. He's not even the top defensive forward on his team. All the important draws in the defensive end are taken either by Tavares or Kampf, and Matthews always gets easier matchups than them as well. Keefe shelters Matthews defensively to give him the best chance at success and fans interpret as him being a beast, when it's just favorable matchups. Draisaitl on the other hand is on for all the most important draws in any situation, in addition, Drai carries the top performance into the playoffs, where Matthews fades away when the competition focuses on him more and makes him less effective.
For the who can compete with the "Lemieux, Jagr, Crosby, Malkin" top 4: the habs could compete:
"Richard, Beliveau, Lafleur, Harvey"
or even the all goalie:
"Plante, Dryden, Roy, Price"

this debate will always be in the moment. ranking players before a season will always come from what they did the year before. at the start of the season Leon should have been ranked higher than mathews based on last season. this season creates whole new debates and rankings. i dont get why people get so mad about saying leon was better than mathews at that point, cause he was. now is a completely different story obviously.

As a Red Wings fan: The Red Wings Mount Rushmore is probably up there with Mario Jagr, in my opinion. Yzerman Fedorov Lidstrom, and Datsyuk Zetterberg. Lidstrom happens to even cross both the Yzerman Fedorov period with the Datsyuk Zetterberg period.

That was me. And DZ is right. At the time it was a homer pick. He has maintained his stellar 2 way play and goal scoring, but he wasnt quite matching his MVP pace. Obviously he has been nothing short of spectacular the entire season and for the 24-25 preseason, there would be a much stronger case to have him at 2.

As a leafs fan with a very unpopular opinion, i refuse to say Matthews is top 5 in the league until he carries his team in the playoffs. Doesn't need to win a cup, but i need to see him consitently produce in the playoffs like he does in the regular season and carry the team on a deep run. It frustrates me to no end that he disapprears so often in big games.

I think most people would take Bedard over Hughes long term. No wrong answer there really. Put either of those guys on an elite team and they'd be cruising. Matthews has been hot every season last year was a down year due to dealing with wrist injury’s. Plus most of drais point legit come from the powerplay where he plays with the best player on earth. Plus Matthews has way better defensive analytics gets selke votes. And last year had the most blocked shots by any forward. Plz
