I don't know why automakers push chrome on us still. Thank God for professionals like you working on the cars and teaching people to DIY. Much appreciated!
What I loved in this video is that it starts off to the actual work rather than too much talk like every other videos you see out there. Well done man!
Hey man. Thanks for the video! It encouraged me to try it. I used the sheet and cut because i have aggressive curves on my car. Even with my shaky hands it came out perfectly. I don't understand why people trying to charge $500+ for this.
Damn good job, you make that look so easy. I'm gonna try this, I feel I can pull this off. Good quality products to work with make all the difference in the world. Looks fun as well, I wouldn't mind performing this upgrade all day long for a living. You're great at this. Looks super LEGIT!
I know you have your technique and what works for you works for you. For everyone else, you may want to consider using 3M knifeless tape. Then you won't need to mask anything, and the only time you'll bring a real knife out is to make the cut at the door edge when the vinyl gets cut in the door jamb.
Thanks for posting this video - I had no idea this product existed. If you could offer a guess on how many years it might last in the sun that would be great...
How do you join two separate pieces or can you buy a large enough piece to cover larger area? My crome doesn't have a break and has a large curve at the back (2018 Tesla Model S).
can the same technique be applied to the door pillars/window molds? thinking of wrapping my rear window molds gloss black (on the X1 only the B-pillar is shadow line. the rear window mold has like a matte finish) if you can, can you do a vid on wrapping the door pillars/window molds? it will be much appreciated. huge thanks!
Bro I make a lot now at a desk to use my brain basically allocating tape and knives most effectively. My back is so fucked up at 40 that I physically couldn't do your job. And I used to do your job. Point is, we all need each other. I vote to tax myself to pay guys like you's insurance because I know what you are capable of becoming. Quick shout out from a California libtard in case anyone reading is wondering why we do what we do. I spent 20 years building junkyard turbo bullshit and dying of no health insurance before I went to school.
How much will I need for a Yukon?? I’d like to black out my window trim as well as the trim on the side steps and the from chrome pieces around the fog lights
@@thebutcherofbenghazi.libya3348 Lol nope. TF you're even talking about? The kind of cars this is done to are not the kind of cars you're think of. Go ahead, say some more stupid shit...
Regarding the yard of gloss black 3M wrap, what kind of yard are we talking about? The ranch house? suburban home? or something smaller like a terrace house?
Thanks, I just got my car wrapped and I'm thinking about doing chrome delete too. But the shops I went to wanted at least $600 per side... I think I'll do it myself instead!
You didn’t forget what it’s called! The 3M is right on the backside where we seeing you look at it!!! You just didn’t wanna see because you wanted to send us to your website!
Looks great. I do have a question though. How does it stand up against high temps, like South Texas heat or the automatic car washes that have the hot wax option?
You can do this sort of gloss black with a shelf life of about 3 years before you got to remove it again.... or you can do it the proper way. Remove, have it painted and install back. High gloss guaranteed, shelf life about 10 to 15 years before it starts to go bad.
Please help, Questions: Can you do it on chrome door handles, have black matte & prior to putting on the fill do you have to spray any water being applying it ?? Like tints- Thank you!
Baby D510 do not ever spray water before applying a vinyl wrap. Any water under a wrap will cause it to fail. You can buy a wide range of air release vinyl to wrap your handles but if you haven't wrapped before, you're probably going to struggle on most modern door handles. There's heaps of tutorials out there on CZcams, just have a look
I don’t cut the natural breaks. Just wrap over them. Most of them are too tight to cut anyways and you’ll scratch the chrome. Then the second piece to continue will make it look even worse. Just one strip.
How much is it to have a shop like yours install this stuff for me. Say a 2017 Subaru Outback Limited with nasty chrome. I want ALL chrome including the grill blacked out. How mucho?
I still don’t know how you managed it to bend that tape it’s getting squeaky when I tried to bend all over the trim 🤷♂️ 5series f10 2011 fron window from edge to the mirror side just tape didn’t work
Just wrapped my trim this past weekend; why don't you just open up the doors to lip all the way in lol. Pulled back my rubber seal too to tuck the vinyl underneath
Thang Nguyen usually that chrome trim comes off. I think its open under the mirror on BMW’s, but on my MB C250 its kind of hidden, so i had to take the chrome out and wrap it. Different in each car basically. If yours is behind the mirror, google how you can take it off and wrap it.
I don't know why automakers push chrome on us still. Thank God for professionals like you working on the cars and teaching people to DIY. Much appreciated!
Agree! My bmw grilles came black and all the other trim except for this chrome ish around the window 🤦🏽♀️😡.
Chrome looks good with tints
guys like you who cant afford the sport model, go w this technique.

By far the best vinyl DIY, I've seen. Great camera work & instructions.
This is awesome! Thanks man. I have same exact car in black and I'm going to be doing exactly this to my car with products from your company. 👍

Use cutting tape instead of a blade
@@karlmeadows4986 cutting tape was terrible decision, blade is definitely better
Did you do it?
@@klodybolduc it's very easy with dechrome tape . Did it recently, definitely something average person can do at home and looks really good 👍

Yeah, I'd totally mess that up, no doubt about it.
for reals, they make it look so simple.
Feckin hate chrome and could not get an amg night edition in Ireland! Gonna have to try this!
Been looking for a video on this for a while
well done sir..excellent tutorial..after watching dozens of window trim wrap diy, this one is best.
Awesome. I priced black chrome to do all the trim on my Fairlane and it was freakin insane. This is the trick.

I was told by someone that they have to use a primer on my chrome before wrapping it because chrome isn't porous. Is this true?
can you put this on the door handles as well?
add the glove to the kit to start wrapping :)
