The 1986 W. German team were a very poor team with Rummenige injured and got to the finals only through typical German fighting spirit and luck and not due to class. They were mighty lucky to face an absolutely fatigued France in the semis and even then won only due to a very bad goalkeeping error by Batz, who had been brilliant in saving penalties against Brazil in that awesome energy sapping end-to-end bash which left both teams exhausted. In 1998, Brazil were better than all but lost the final in the dressing room with that Ronaldo fiasco. Holland were superb as well and were the second best team.

I first saw the Brazil football team play in 1981 when they came to Jamaica for a friendly match. I remember it was a Sunday night because my older brother skipped Church, borrowed my fathers' car and drove us to the National stadium in Mountain View, Kingston. It was JAM Packed!!!! The lines went on forever. People got restless and impatient and began scaling the very high barbed wire fence by the hundreds!!! All to see the great Brazil play!!! I got elbowed in my eye but I did not care; I wanted to see this mighty Brazilian team at All costs. And I was not disappointed. No Zico, Socrates or Falcao but it did not matter. They were a magical side, a brilliant side! I had NEVER seen football like that before or since and I was a fan of Brazil from that moment on. They killed us 5-0 or 6-0 but all of us were happy because we got to see football royalty on display and it was enough. They were the beautiful game personified. Great, great memories. ;)

O futebol brasileiro estava fadado ao fracasso meu amigo. Os times brasileiros não conquistavam libertadores salvo cruzeiro, o flamengo na base do roubo e o grêmio. Sem disciplina tática, sem jogadas coletivas, sem forte marcação. O internacional não conseguiu se livrar da forte marcação do Nacional e perdeu em 1980 a taça libertadores, o flamengo em 1982 perdeu em pleno maracanã para o peñarol.
Futebol moderno é muita marcação para tirar os espaços do adversário para roubar a bola e iniciar o contra ataque. E o Brasil estava com um modelo arcaico.

I was the happiest boy alive when Italy won that day, it just shows everyone has a different point of view( I am of Italian heritage) to say football died that day is an injustice. It could be said it's what makes football great,.
Looking back I have always told the younger ones how brilliant that Brazilian team was. As an older wiser person I look back on them with great memories and fondness, and realise the special part they played in making that a treasured day for Italy fans around the world.

After the thriller was over, I sat there contemplating, wow, this is really it. We're not going to see Brazil anymore. I just went numb for a while.
And although Italy ended up being a worthy winner, I still feel a small numbness deep down inside whenever I think about that game, and that magical team who couldn't quite make it.

Zico era extraordinario...
Zico foi um grande jogador, um craque, entretanto, queria brilhar mais do que todos, e nesse time a maioria do time era uma constelação. Nesse jogo contra a Itália, ele deixou de passar algumas bolas que seria gol na certa! Uma delas o Leandro deu o sangue, foi ao ataque, tocou para o Zico e ficou sozinho na área, sem impedimento, mas o Zico deu um chutão para cima.
Em 1982, na minha opinião, destacaram-se muito o Falcão e o Sócrates, esses dois eram o motor do time.

O Zico mesmo falou que se ele não tivesse as lesões poderia chegar perto do Pelé! Eu mesmo vi uma reportagem que ele jogava em média 50% das partidas. O máximo foi 76%! Se ele fez 245 gols com esses números imagina se estivesse 100%?

Eu sou italiano. Por ocasião do 40º aniversário da vitória da Copa do Mundo na Espanha, a televisão italiana Rai transmitiu todas as partidas da Copa do Mundo de 1982 e vi todas as partidas disputadas pelo Brasil e entendi que os mesmos erros cometidos pelo Brasil contra a Itália havia cometido nas partidas anteriores. Se você vir o gol de Ramon Diaz contra o Brasil, é muito parecido com o segundo gol de Paolo Rossi contra o Brasil. Na minha opinião, o Brasil de 1982 teve o meio-campo mais forte de todos os tempos, mas faltou um bom goleiro e um bom atacante e um velho provérbio diz que para ganhar jogos é preciso ter um goleiro que defenda e um atacante que marque. Acredito que aquela derrota fez o Brasil entender que quando você perde a bola você deve pressionar imediatamente, marcar os atacantes adversários, tirar o espaço para os meio-campistas adversários. E, de fato, o Brasil que venceu em 1994 era composto quase exclusivamente por jogadores que jogaram na Série A e que aprenderam com o futebol italiano, embora muitos deles tenham sido descartados por não serem competitivos o suficiente para o alto nível que tinham no aquele futebol italiano de época. Vejo que vocês brasileiros têm muita saudade do futebol bailado mas acho que o futebol agora é impossível de se jogar porque se aquele Brasil de 1982 jogasse agora correria o risco de perder 7 a 1 como aconteceu com o Brasil contra a Alemanha porque infelizmente conta mais em futebol moderno, corra, pressione e respeite as táticas. Caros amigos brasileiros Nós, italianos, estamos orgulhosos de ter vencido a Copa do Mundo de 1982 porque o fizemos jogando e vencendo times muito fortes como Argentina, Polônia, Alemanha e seu fantástico Brasil. i remember watching this world cup as a kid and as of course i am english and we never lost a game in that world cup but even as a kid i was mesmerised by that brazil team....they were even better to watch than the 1970 brazil team...unfortunately they had a shit keeper. I was captain of our University (Club) team at the time and we were playing a World War. I was short and loved playing with my Malaysian and Arab friends, while I didn't like the Norwegians, they were too tall and played too much altitude. And we all loved the Brazil futbol. We didn't have TV direct and I wanted Brazil to win the World Cup. But my Mother was from Italian roots, and I played Sweeper on our team. I was short, slow but quick and did the best I could. People that I knew liked the way I played since they said I was intelligent. During my short career, I played Sweeper, goalie and midfield, winger and people said I fit in wherever I needed.
Anyway, I saw the match and I was not disappointed that Italy won since I thought they played football to beat Brazil. It was a great match. Brazil was brilliant, but Italy played football to win.

Well of course, we all admired Brasil; never have I seen such elegant football played during the whole Championship, almost all of Brazils matches were so interesting. And of corse Germany-France, a real legendary thriller! Brazil-Argentina, Brazil-Italy, the whole championship was so wonderful. I have seen them all after that, but none can reach 1982!

The thing that makes brazil 82 great is that everybody knew they had the ability to win a world cup.. Nobody expected them to lose to italy.. If they hadnt been so sloppy in that game they wud be ranked alongside 1970 without doubt.. ( even with serginho ! ) they are the only team in history to get knocked out in the quarter finals ( 2nd group stage) and still be ranked alongside the greats. Holland 74 and hungary 54 both reached a final. Brazil 82 didnt and yet they are still up there with the best..proof of their greatness

Ví sus dos partidos en Sarriá. Nunca vi una afición tan en estado de gracia., tan feliz y alegre. No paraban de bailar, casi era demasiado, no se si tomaron algo pero diría que si :). Cuando el triste catenaccio les mandó a su casa, abandonaron las banderas. Me llevé un trozo de recuerdo, de la mas grande. El palo era un junco gigantesco . Espectacular, gracias Brasil.

Eu tenho 18 anos e confesso que chorei ao ver esse vídeo, mal mal me recordo da copa de 2002 mas gostaria de ter visto essa seleção de 82 jogar.. faz bastantes anos que eu não choro em um jogo do Brasil e isso me entristece de ver que roubaram de nós uma seleção que cativava a nação. Meu total repúdio a essa corja que transformou o futebol brasileiro nessa piada que é hoje.
eu tinha 8 anos nessa copa. definitivamente nunca irei me conformar com esse resultado. Isso foi a desgraça do futebol mundial, o Brasil nunca mais terá um time nem parecido com esse. Time de CRAQUES em seus clubes: zico(flamengo), falcão(internacional/roma), sócrates(coríntians), júnior(flamengo), éder(galo), leandro(flamengo), toninho cereso(galo)... os únicos que destoavam dessa selação era serginho chulapa e valdir peres, mesmo assim, muito bom em seus times santos/são paulo. É... num tem jeito de falar dessa seleção e não se emocionar. 34 anos e não me recuperei, mas valeu. Nem sempre o melhor venci.

Goleiro fraco, defesa fraca, um meio campo que nunca tinha jogado junto, só 15 minutos de um amistoso ( quem disse foi Zico!) já que Falccão não participou da preparação pq tava no Roma e não liberavam. Um 4:4:2 sem ponta direita e com 2 canhotos no ataque e super individualistas. Serginho ruim e estilo diferente do resto do time. Grupo desunido, titulares de um lado, reservas de outro, o grupo do Rio de Janeiro. Ainda por cima achavam que íam massacrar a Itália, que era um timaço. Perdeu por azar né...
Entendo sua opinião e respeito . Voltando um pouco no tempo , a Seleção de 1970 foi elaborada e classificada nas eliminátórias por João saldanha que saiu por ordem militar , e comandada por Zagalo ,Pelé ,Clodoaldo,Gerson e Rivelino só jogaram a copa juntos pois não trinaram nas eliminatórias o time era outro.
Confesso que como disse , veja os videos da copa de 1982 ,os mais fracos do time ram o Goleiro Waldir Peres que era para ser Leão e Serginho , que era para ser Roberto Dinamite .Os Pontas não marcavam , jogavam do meio para frente , então , Telê santana colocou os jogadores de meio campo para se revesarsse pelo setor , e tinha Éder que jogava como ponta esquerda falso. Essa seleção foi demais. pena que não ganhou a copa , Azar da Copa.
Agora esse rodìzio na ponta direita não funcionava não. Zico se ofereceu pra sair do time pq num tava gostando dá posição e Leandro tava sozinho. Tanto Cerezo como Sócrates e Zico não queriam Falcão no time. Ele num participou dá preparação pq tava na italia. tá na biografia de Telê Santana isso. E tem certeza que Saldanha saiu da seleçao pq era comunista? Então como é que ele entrou??????
