Well I just watched that great video and went to the website only to find that the company has gone into liquidation !
Gutted, looked like a great system.
Great video, bit of humour too.
The Des O'connor reference would definitely scare off most 😂
Classic stuff! It shows my age!
Great video and the system looks brilliant. The only thing you didn’t mention was the monthly subscription.

@@Welshcampercreations That's because we do still have plans with monthly fees but our Lite plan doesn't. The monthly plans page gives you all the information of what's included in each plan. Thanks, Tom
How's it brilliant? Wasn't innovative at all, you get back to the 80's with only PIR and door contacts, just a huge marketing around it, no wonder why it went into liquidation and it's now useless, biggest scam ever...
Great video thanks Stuart. I had to install alarm one of the battery type alarm unit at my daughter’s house made by Yale. I did have a lot of problems with the batteries supplied going flat and the double sided tape not sticking very well. But some good new batteries and 3m tape solved all the problems. The unit you used, looks so much better than the Yale ones.
Morning Stuart, another great video and thanks for introducing a great product. Hope your staying safe in the current stormy conditions. Best wishes Michael
Hi Michael - thanks. Let me put it this way - I'm definitely working inside the workshop today!
Good stuff. Wanted to update my old system, so looking to get wire free now and this looks perfect. Thanks.

Just bought mine using the code. Very reasonable price. Thank you very much sir.
Nice one
Welcome to Boundary :)
I just knew that was going to happen at the end - but it still cracked me up. Great review and I’m heading over to the Boundary site now….!
I'm so predictable!
Cool looking system and a great video overview/installment to boot. Cheers.
Thanks
Seen this alarm system being installed on D&J Projects, seems to be very good if you have your own home.
Same neil
Looks great, but I am surprised that the siren box doesn't have a solar cell to keep a Li-ion cell trickle charged.
just been contacted by boundary they have adjudged the pay monthly plan so you can have unlimited sensors. dont know why they did it in the first place as it put myself and many others off buying this system. well done boundary for listening
Before ordering you should be aware that a monthly subscription of £9.99 applies if you want to protect anything bigger than a shed. Boundary will sell you the package shown which includes six sensors. If you want to use more than two you have to subscribe.
Matthew's is my favourite DIY channel for sure, but the Boundary subscription plan is no more than a con.
Thanks for the heads up regarding the subscription, shame it wasn't mentioned in the video.
I'll not be purchasing now.

Glad you enjoyed it!
I had a Verisure system put in about a year ago having never come across this Boundary package. I’m paying around £40 a month, so the Boundary at only a tenner a month seems like a bargain, although I don’t think there was any upfront cost with the Verisure. Good video and great production values as usual!
Get a professional installer to sort you out, costs alot less than these scammers are charging. Ask your insurers if it's recognised as a maintained system.
Hahaha I was really hoping the ending would be exactly that! Another great vid. 👍👍
First class review, love all your video's keep them coming.
Thank you very much
Always being advised to protect myself with a very easily installed system. However,I am happy with the stuff I installed myself, door alarms, sensors, automatic lights, which I have found to be the best value. An alarm would set the neighbours against me eventually,so I prefer the quiet gadgets, and securely locked doors and windows. Incidentally,I do not oil or grease the window latches because I want to hear any being forced. The door hinges squeak quite loudly too. Being alert is the best weapon against intruders, and keeping a weapon handy.
Good speaker, didn't put a word wrong!
Really great video as always. Probably I'd enjoy you showing us how to do the dishes properly. Regarding the door sensor, the small part is basically just a magnet, so in fact you could just fit a small magnet there. And yes, it's probably hard to find one that fits nicel right there, but good to know.
You are right. i only found that out when it ended up stuck to some screws on my workbench!
Great video and great system 👍
Thanks
great video when me and my mrs got our first home earlier this month i went for a hybrid alarm system wired motion detectors ,wired external sounder, the the only wireless was window sesnsors as the frames are pvc
Sadly the monthly plan cost kills this one. Pointless to be able to only pair 2 sensors so the paid subscription is necessary at £120/year. Close, but no cigar.
Yep. I was going to purchase the medium package but stopped short when I saw I had to commit to a monthly subscription to get full features from the mobile phone app!

Great video. If we can give any advice it would be don't advertise your security system by placing stickers or signs outside your house.
These systems are subject to defeat by interfering with the signals. Since this is a public forum I'm not going to be more specific. There's plenty of information for those interested.
Merry Christmas too you and your family. God bless 🙏🎄
In light of these going bust, and the Google Nest alarm system shutting down at a similar time, I'd HIGHLY recommend getting standard alarm equipment and running your own system via Home Assistant or SmartThings or similar.
I used a Konnected board to use my existing wired door/window/motion sensors and siren in a smart alarm, then added Zigbee wireless sensors (battery life 2 years from a watch style battery) to add other rooms. All of it is controlled in Home Assistant with the "Alarmo" addon and will still work 10 years from now even if all the manufacturers go bust, as long as my Home Assistant raspberry pi stays plugged in.
Never buy hardware that relies on someone else's goodwill or server time to keep it running.
Brilliant video as always and I couldn’t quite believe the 45% discount code… I even started to sweet talk the wife into looking at it… until I saw the monthly fee. Poor show on Boundaries part I think there… fair enough having more features etc for the paid for version but limiting sensors is a bit tight. Thanks again for the video.

Liquidation …. We are sorry to advise that Boundary Technologies Limited has ceased to trade due to financial difficulties and that Graeme Bain of Johnston Carmichael has been appointed as Provisional Liquidator of the company by Edinburgh Sheriff Court. As a result, the company is unfortunately no longer in a position to provide ongoing technical support to customers.
Thanks for your post. Unfortunately my son bought a two box system from them and had nothing but trouble. They were very unhelpful throughout so I'm not surprised to hear of their demise. He's now having to make a claim with his bank as he fortunately paid by credit card.
Another brilliant, informative and entertaining installation 👍🏼

Great video once again - the boundary system is great and definitely the future. The app looks really well designed too and so easy to use!
Thanks
One thing to note is that for the Level 1 police response the external alarm must be professionally installed as noted on their site "Police-response systems, such as ours at Boundary, have an outdoor siren that must be professionally installed onto the exterior of your property. "
To stop DIY people from installing
Which is BS, yes it does need a professional installer that's either NSI or SSAIB approved, then they need to apply to the local police force for URN (average £60 pa additional paid to the police) but they're forcing the sale of an externals sounder that's not needed..
Great video! Impressive alarm system and a great discount. Only problem is they are all out of stock. I hope Boundary will restock soon and extend the discount.
Luckily, You didnt buy as Boundary have now gone bust
Another good video. My concern is the frequency of battery changes. As the batteries aged in my Arlo wireless camera system it seemed like I was up the ladder every few weeks to remove and recharge a battery in one of the cameras. After replacing the batteries when they wore out I ended up paying $100 more for each camera to fit a solar panel to each. Problem solved.
Similar to cameras, although perhaps less demanding on a battery, any device that is constantly triggered by movement such as infra-red sensors is likely to be hard on batteries. As we get older we need to spend less time up ladders!
It’s a valid concern. When our pro subscription launches our annual maintenance includes battery changes. We’re currently forecasting a minimum of one year from all batteries, with options like disabling the the LED on sensors to increase this. We’re also working on firmware updates to make battery life more efficient. Zwave 700 as a protocol is low energy by nature so we think that there are improvements to be made!
This companies in Liquidation!!!!!!!!!!

Just got the big package for £270! what a bargain. Thanks! The £9.99 a month, I get that people don't want to pay it, but might be a good idea to see if your premiums for home insurance will go lower to justify the monthly fee? I know some insurers won't acknowledge an alarm system, but worth a try!
At best they give you 10 % off and that's if its maintained by a security company.
From my experience insurance companies will only offer discounts if the alarm system is fitted by a reputable security company and is serviced yearly to ensure it's still working correctly.
Love the vids, as for this one it assumes good wifi coverage everywhere from the router. Just a thought, would love your actions to check and overcome any dead areas you found when setting your wifi up.
Only the hub uses wifi to connect. The sensors are connected via z wave (from memory) and it’s range is much further than your home WiFi…
@@GordieK How ever its connected, just wondered if he had checked for any dead spots and how he did it.
@@tallman3 I would assume the sensor won’t pair if it’s in a dead spot so you would know as you go I think if that helps..
Great bit of kit and a great how to video. Just curious about where you plugged it into. Noticed you didn’t plug it into the double socket near where you placed the hub. Is there another socket lower down? 🤷♂️😎
Wow I like that system , I will have to look into get that for my home. It’s so easy to install and use even I could install it.
Brilliant video Stuart. As always 👍👍👍❤️

i woudnt bother - I just bought one based on this video and wish i hadn't. Nicely packaged wow looks the part but in reality fall well short of a basic good stable alarm system. check the 1 star on trust pilot - same experience unfortunately.
I've always favoured using Max Bygraves myself...
As others have stated, this company have ceased trading. The liquidators are Johnston Carmichael (Edinburgh).
Some of the sensors may be compatible with other systems, so you may not have to throw the whole system in the bin.
Up a ladder on the windiest day of the year... until today!! Storm Eunice has cometh
It was the windiest day at that point. Definitely won't see me up there today!
Really great video as always. Couple of questions, 1. if the internet is down does it still work? 2. if your away from home and the alarm is triggered, will you get alerted via your phone??. thanks again for great real world videos!😀
No. It needs the internet to communicate. Also, if you smash the code pad game over.
Hi Anthony, to answer your questions:
1. The sensors and hub can still communicate if the wi-fi goes down as they're on a secure Z-Wave network. The only functionality you'd lose is connection to the app. We do have a cellular back-up upgrade for the Hub that adds a 4G roaming network if desired so connection can be maintained at all times.
2. If away from your home, you will receive a push notification via the app, a text message and an automated voice call - so you shouldn't miss it when you alarm gets triggered.
Hope that helps.
Tom @ Boundary
@@Handlesplus See my reply below David. Also, any attempt to tamper or block the system will trigger the alarm.
@@Handlesplus why would you need WAN to communicate over LAN?
The devices all connect to the hub (in essence LAN)
Losing WAN (Sky, BT, Vrigin etc) wouldn't affect the door sensor communicating with the panel....
Hello Stuart, I really enjoy your channel with its clear explanations and useful tips. I'm interested in the Boundary Alarm system but I have a question. I understand that you need the internet to set up the various sensors and to get them to "talk" to your phone, but if the internet modem suffers a power failure or if the telephone line is cut will the sensors still trigger the siren if they are activated? I'm guessing that the answer is probably "yes" but you will no longer get the alert on your phone. Is that correct? Thank you
Fantastic video ..moving house today...will definitely invest in one of these ....
Best of luck!
The most terrifying threat to a burgular ever. Des O'Connor. Eric and Ernie would be proud.
Keep up with great videos.
I was in the alarm business for a time and I have never found a standard alarm monitoring system that guarantees they will get the police out? All they can do is make police aware but if there is no confirmation that someone is there they do not have to attend. Just a footnote Boundary went bust in March!
Another great video and a very nice, neat and simple alarm system. Any advice on where to install the siren on a bungalow? I was thinking on a chimney, so higher up, but worried it's too exposed to weather?
They suggest at a height that you cannot reach but doesn't need to be way up either. I wouldn't worry about weather - it's well protected. Remember that as it is battery operated you need to be able to get to it again to change the batteries in the future.
Wasting you time with Des O'Connor best to play Val Doonican! 😆 Great channel 👍
Thanks
You could actually play anything you like with the IFTTT integration or Alexa! Personally, you can't beat a bit of heavy metal! :)
When fixing the door switches it's usual to fix the magnet, the small part in your case, to the door and fix the larger part, the reed switch to the frame. This will prevent the reed switch from moving and banging around when the door is being shut.
Good alarm system but you forgot to mention having to pay a monthly fee to allow more then two sensors to be used as well as features you mentioned.

Boundry in liquidation
Was very tempted to invest in this system after watching the video, but on searching found that the company has been liquidated so assume the alarm doesn’t work anymore.
Hey Stuart, you really should take this video down now as I am sure you know Boundary went bust earlier this year leaving us all with a useless system.
Just for the record, I moved to the Yale Smart Home Alarm system which is about the same sort of price range and so far seems to work pretty well.
For night time deterrent would be good to have a blinking led light on the outside of the building.
The strobe will pulse blue between 7pm and 11pm. It will pulse red when sounding regardless of the time of day.
We limit the times to get the most out of the battery life over the year.
As you know I love your channel but as someone who has worked in the professional security industry for the last 30 years and currently works for the world’s largest independent security manufacturer, I get frustrated by equipment that meets no British / EN standards and where people get either tied into expensive monthly fees or paying excessive monthly fees for apps. Police response can only be achieved if the equipment complies to EN standards and is installed by a NSI or SSAIB accredited company. Please do your homework, like everything in life you get what you pay for. Rant over.
I agree entirely. I'm a (retired) security installer. I wouldn't want a battery powered bell box. I'll be too old soon to get up the ladders. None of my kit ever had monthly charges either!

Ive never seen a system like this here in Canada im sure there are options but Boundary seems to have thought of everything, looks fantastic and very user friendly.
I'm glad you are enjoying them
Looks interesting. Have a wired alarm system but we only have 1 PIR for the hallway. Most of the windows have contact sensors. It seems boundary tends to use PIRs as the main protection but how does that work say at night time? You probably wouldn't want your PIRs on in case you accidentally set them off going to the kitchen for a drink but then if an intruder comes in through a window with no contact sensor, you're exposed.
I get you can order more sensors but find it interesting their bundles all come with only 2 contact sensors for doors and none for windows
I'm surprised Boundary haven't answered like they answered Anthony's question. Come on Boundary.
Sorry, we were catching up! The night set built into the app will automatically disable the PIRs and leave all the contacts armed. You can wander around inside but still feel safe at night! You can also mix and match if you prefer as we support multiple part set scenarios so you could even leave a few PIRs armed if you wish.
What bundle should i get just for a workshop
I would go for the starter bundle - maybe add in a siren if you want.
I realise that this excellent video is over 12 months old now, but I just took a look on their website with a view to purchasing. Looks like your discount won't work anymore as the have gone into liquidation. Any similar products you can recommend? Keep up the good work.
Another great video, thanks. If the power is switched off does it go into tamper mode and sound the alarm?
The system would drop to the backup battery which gives 12 hours worth of power to the hub. You also get an alert this has happened so the system is still armed.

Another brilliant video and tempted but the Lite package is pretty pointless, doesn’t explain how you’re notified if the alarm goes off. Hi, when you look at the specs for system, battery life is VERY poor by todays standards, most other wireless systems are nearer 4 to 6 years for sensors. Visonic even quote up to 8 years for siren & PIR's and the app is free as well.

It will be interesting to see how long the actual bell box batteries last as they will be exposed to the cold temperatures of our weather. Great idea having the app on your phone.
Got to say though, no drilling. How on earth will your walls ever become like pin cushions 😂
Batteries last over a year and the app will give you plenty of warning if they need changing
I know I'm a bit late to this video, but I liked the look of the system so went to check them out. The company has gone into liquidation and has now ceased trading. 😞
What area are you in to require all these measures?
Have you considered using the Toughbuilt tool belt and versatile pouches?
I have a belt and the CT-24 and CT-26 pouches.
Love 'em
@@800Viffer yes they are brilliant pouches really handy for all trades and diyers. Cannot recommend them enough pouches and bags/ totes.
Batteries in the siren ??? Monthly Subscription ??? If you are any way tech savvy look into Home Assistant as a free open source framework for bringing all your smart devices together. Then look into Shelly and SONOFF for smart devices, sensors etc and do this yourself. The resulting DIY solution runs locally on your own Network, Is not dependent on or vulnerable to any third party charges, connections or even them closing down etc.
Looks like a cool system and easy to install. Though with all wireless security systems that are connected to smart devices and home networks they have their drawbacks. Can they be hacked ? I installed a Blink 4 camera system two years ago. Still on the same batteries. Not sure how long the batteries will last in your alarm system.
The batteries are supposed to last 1 year
Good question on security, the system will detect any attempt to disrupt the communication with the sensors or attempts to spoof them. We treat this as a trigger and this would activate the system.
