It is very helpful.Thank you.
What a brilliant way to move the slab!
This is just what I've been looking for thanks for the video. It awesome.
Thanks again for sharing a great example of quality workmanship. A pleasure to see 😊
i am a full on fabrication engineer never really thought about wood work however i found that so satisfying and relaxing just to take your time and appreciate the finishing result
Love this one Stuart! Fair play 👍
I hate all these video blogs that don't understand the use of post mix. Don't put any water in at all.
A nice job done there matey.Well done and with working on your own as well.
Very nice Stuart, now pour yourself a nice drink and enjoy the summer, not forgetting to make some more great videos of course ! I built a wooden one 4.8 x 2.4, about ten years ago, I still like it apart from when I need to repaint it all, which is now for the fourth time !
Really informative, thank you, my only concern I have is that there may be a step from the bedroom to the en suite after laying the backerboard
Just a thought. I would have filled those holes in the concrete block below the sill with a quick-dry mortar. It looks like a place where water could accumulate and cause problems down the road.
Like your forward planning with respect to the conduit for any future cable connection
Buenas gran proyecto la pena que no entiendo su idioma
this is great! Love the A-frame and line level idea.
What a load of crap
Did I see voids under those slabs?
Temu is not after your money it is after your information.
A new beech hedge is being planned for the Autumn. This will be very very handy & I have just ordered one. Thank you for the excellent tip.
Very imporessed with how you managed that on your own Stuart. Cheers, Ian.
Your pergola looks great; nicely done!
Great video, can't believe I've only just learnt this! I have a 450m2 gravel driveway to install. I was planning on doing a reduced level dig, installing 100mm of compacted Type 1 and then 50mm gravel on top. The cost of the muckaway and Type 1 is around £5,000. I'm now wondering if I can do this instead of the Type 1. I guess the drawback with this option is that the sub base is no longer permeable. Anyone got any thoughts or experience on this type of application?
Type 1 isn't classified as permeable
@@amaterasuHS Yea, but it is pretty much permeable isn't it. I've used Type 3 before, where the parking area was enclosed by a number of buildings, but a single track driveway, which can easily be sloped one side I'd say is fine to be done with a Type 1 sub-base.
I would have turned the Wooden blocks so that the grain was across not up and down as any water on the top will soak in faster. You could also just put a we cover on the top of the end grain. 👍
I was waiting for you to realise you'd marked the position on the house without taking it off the casters but you're obviously much cleverer than me!
LOL spot on ending! So British 🤣
if you're paying yourself minimum wages it ends up costing more - a lot more. Oh and add the 5k worth of tools. haha
I was trying to watch your video but I switched it off the music is terrible sorted out bro
Great video. Would love to know if the pergola makes the back door area in the house much darker? Or if you open louvres do they leave in plenty of light?
I have a patio of slabs installed before I moved in. On HC then sharp sand then dabs of cement. No edging support so they move and after pointing, lasts about a year. Now I want to do it properly BUT on CZcams some are laid on sharp sand others on a bed of cement. So, still not sure what's the best method.
Great job as always Stuart. Can I ask- where did you get the pergola from please?
I know your a one man show but next time go down the pub and pay someone £20 to help yer!😅
£3.70 for a bag of Blue Circle cement! This video is only 11 months old, but the prices are soooo out already.
Cement gets max strength in 28 days not in a couple of months.
Great job - additional idea - cap the timber fixing to the house with lead or other water proof material to throw water of the end grain.
Stress is on the “e” of pergola, not the “o”.
What about using golf tees? If hole is too small, would drill a bit larger for golf tees But match sticks work nice too
Just checked out the item on The Range website - it says it's not suitable for permanent installation & that the louvres drain rainwater through the legs. What did you do with regard to drainage?
Me in 2024😅Stuart brilliant as always😊
Is there a reason you used MOD Type 1 instead of the cement technique mentioned in a previous video with eh barrels?
Why didn't you use the cement technique mentioned in the previous video?
For comparison My full size mirror is 6kg..
Nice job. One question - how come the patio is wet under the pergola at the end? :D
I would not use a real hammer but a rubber mallet I think.. 🤔
How come I’m just hearing of this now. Ffs 🤦 my poor walls
Nice project! I am admiring this from across the pond in the Golden State. One thing I wonder is this a possible heat sink? I wonder how something similar count be done on the outside wall.
Very resourceful and informative. Thank you.
where is the pergola from?
I would love to install one of these (away from the house) - problem is I live in the Netherlands and our garden "sinks" about 1.5cm per year (sea bottom). Means I have to figure a way of being able to raise it whenever we re-tile the garden......
