  • Are you a fan of Greek mythology? Well, you're in for a treat! Here's the game trailer for our latest game, Medusa!
Medusa was once a priestess serving in the temple of the goddess, Athena. Medusa was blessed with a pretty face. The appearance of Poseidon, the God of the Sea, made Medusa fall head over heels in love with Poseidon. She went to Athena's temple to seek forgiveness. Athena, furious with Medusa's actions, cursed Medusa, transforming her into a monster, whose gaze would turn any mortal into stone!
Did that get you all excited? Well, check out the game details here: www.pgsoft.com/en/games/10/

@@Marcustheseer nah Hades is the king of the Greek underworld, Tartarus, kinda like King Yemma in Dragon Ball.
The personification of Death in Greek mythology is Thanatos. He's similar to the modern Grim Reaper, who appears to before the dead to take their soul to the underworld.
Then we have Charon, the ferryman who brings the souls across the boundary between the world of the living and the dead. If you are into astronomy, you may also know Charon as the reason why Pluto is no longer a planet.
Finally we have Hermes, the luxury goods manufaturer. As the messenger god for Ancient Greeks, Hermes is also naturally associated with guiding souls to the underworld, because polytheistic religion usually can't just have only one guy does only one thing.

What's I'm trying to say is soul guiding is not Hades's job description. He's more like Lucifer but without the evil connotation, since ancient Greeks believed all dead people went to the underworld (unless you happened to know the big Z, aka big daddy Zeus).
Also these other guys are not evil either. They're indifferent to humans, to be exact, cuz they're gods.

If you've heard of Medusa, well, just imagine three of her. While some stories claim that Medusa was born with a very beautiful form and later cursed with a head of snakes, others say she and her sisters have always been that horrendous. In fact, the name Gorgon is derived from a word that means “dreadful.” Their parents, ancient sea gods Phorcys and Ceto, notoriously gave birth to grotesque creatures. While only Medusa’s monstrous hair could turn humans into stone, all three of them have terrifying venomous snakes on their heads, a hideous face, and some horrendously large teeth.

I actually don't have the source of the story, it's just a cool version I heard somewhere, where ever it was. I felt the need to share it coz it made some sense to me. • @ravwenn4864
      @ravwenn4864 Před 5 lety +129

The Medusa's head's using as a symbol as a protection; is because of Medusa's face had an ugly, scary look. Quite remembering looking. All that soldiers whom were went to kill her was afraid of her looks, and all the people was because of that keeps themselves meeting with Medusa, she had a quite infamous look. People were using her head as a symbol that is a protection: because of it was keeping away from humans because of it's infamous look.
Her head's using by the others, doesn't tell anything about Athena's doings. Athena, cursed Medusa with turning her into a monster. That's not really hard to understand that, this was not indeed a 'gift', because of that logic, then Medusa shouldn't have killed by a man. But she was killed by a man, Perseus, within the Athena's help.

There are 3 versions of the Medusa story. The oldest, classical Greek references state she was born a monster and would forever be a monster. Then later accounts stated she was once beautiful but became a narcissist, leading to Athena to the punishment she gave. Modern scientific studies on narcissism even reference Medusa or name the studies after her because of this classical version of her narcissism causing her fate. The last version of her story is the one for some reason everyone accepts as fact despite it being the most recent account. The story is by Ovid which paints her as the victim of Athena and Poseidon merely due to her beauty. This story, being the most modern, should not be hard to believe has been altered by Ovid to separate his works from all those before him. When looking at history we most often always look at the oldest accounts as what was originally believed or true, so in this case it would be Medusa was born a monster not turned into one.

It was not until a much later version of the myth, written by a Roman poet called Ovid, that she became a cursed maiden of Athena.

Hestia wasnt part of the 12 great olympians if you include Dionysus into the mix. She wasnt unpopular but her worship was a given since theres hearth in every home (except for the poor maybe). And you dont invent stories about mischievous/troublesome goddess of the hearth since you expect the hearth of your home to be the most welcoming place for you and your loved ones....unlike lighting and the sea.
Hades manage over the realm of the death, therefore misunderstood. The thing with Persephone could be viewed as a mother who refuse to let her daughter get married....while the father agreed. About Demeter...well...she caused famine due to the event. Thus teaching us that one should obtain agreement of both parents less things become dicey if one has strong-willed mother in law.
The rest of the Olympians werent the embodiment of evil. Theres no concept of "The Devil" within Greek Mythology. Theres no deity/being who tempted mortal to do evil. In fact, evil was actually punished by the Olympians...well....their definition of evil was, of course, differ than our modern definition...such as having the guests ate the son's boiled flesh. Apparently, mistreatment of guests (having them ate the flesh) was valued heavier than the killing of the son.

Theres actally the original myth of Persephone and Hades where she fell in love with Hades and the under world. Her mother Demeter, didnt like that so she begged Zeus to do something about it. Hence Persephone having to come back once a year. The myth about him tricking her was created after. So their actually the healthiest realationship in Greek mythology
