      Theory is lacking logic.
      Saying 'it can only be when' and making then stuff up, even when there are actually more options.
      For example, the bidding wars can go out of control or the goverment is just that incompetent - yeah, even when there's still space left for the trash, you may let the world end thanks to trash. It's definetly possible.

    Correction: going from glass bottles to plastic and thinner plastic equaling less waste is only true if the bottles weren't reused and recycled.
    Glass bottles can be reused dozens of times before they become waste (and glass waste can be recycled into new bottles with ease), the thick plastic bottles can still be reused about a dozen times before they become waste (and they too get recycled into new bottles but that needs more added new material), on the other hand the thin pet bottles become waste after a single use and can't be recycled into new pet bottles (into other things though).
    Atm glass bottles are still the greenest alternatives to package drinks, after just drinking tap water (where possible) and tightly followed by the thick plastic bottles (if they stay in the bottle cycle).

      You’re insane if you think people are sifting through mixed recyclables and picking out glass bottles and thicker plastic bottles and going “these will do just fine!” Only the drink manufacturers can do that, and they won’t because they’re typically not local mom and pop stores and it’ll take more money/plastic to safely ship bottles and to industrially clean them than to make a new bottle.
      The only realistic version of what you’re saying, is if the drinks companies ship to restaurants in a single container and the company itself uses glass containers for the customers, in which case yes the glass can be reused almost indefinitely.

      If you've ever played the PC game, I think that, and a scene in the early movie is an indicator. Basically Wall-E runs back as quick as possible to the truck where they are based before the others whenever a storm pops up. I think it may also have to deal with him having a kind of conscious, figuring out the most direct routes back, then one by one the other Wall-E units deteriorate and shut down, and yes, he also does break down the other units for spare eyes and treads, which is also seen in the movie. That's just my theory anyway. Wall-E is my favorite Pixar movie, so I've put a little thought into it.

    Well that’s interesting and all but I have a few questions. This theory definitely makes a lot of sense but do to a ship that’s been sailing in space for hundreds of years, would money still even be relevant? And if so how do we know that people still even have money to give up on that ship? Granted the business that trashed the world is definitely plausible, especially for money, but how would they keep this up when people run out of money? Wouldn’t that doom humanity on the ship? Regardless, I love the videos, just had a few questions about this one. I’m kinda curious.

    • @PoseurGoth
      @PoseurGoth Před rokem +3

      It's no longer about money. They were already the only corporation. Now they are the undisputed leaders. Every facet of the, admittedly comfortable, lives of the public is now under their complete control. BNL's aesthetics, rules, AUTO programming, and entertainment reign supreme. Even without formal leaders, aside from the captains, the ships are a huge vanity project, BNL is viewed as a god like savior of mankind (and much like The Machine Stops, a story from over a hundred years ago with a vaguely similar plot, albeit less optimistic, I wouldn't be surprised if worship of the corporation eventually became mandated). This is the Bezos and Musk wet dream, that they would happily give up every cent of their fortunes to achieve.

    • @HOLDENPOPE
      @HOLDENPOPE Před rokem +9

    I knew ever since I was little that BNL was the main villain. Captain Auto was programmed to not let the humans go home, which means BNL never truly had any intentions of reversing earth's damage. That's why Wall-E was the only trash robot left and why Eve was the only assessment robot to be deployed. They never actually expected there to be a change

    • @gobbles1181
      @gobbles1181 Před 3 dny

      The BnL CEO actually initiated the A113 Directive in Auto several years or even decades after people were initially meant to return to Earth, WALL-E was just the only bot still working because they were meant to finish cleaning after 5 years but the movie takes place 700 years after they were supposed to be done (many modern cars don’t even last that long), and EVE was only one of several probes deployed to Earth, as several other models are seen in the ship with EVE, and it’s not unreasonable to assume there were other ships that were sent to Earth as well. I’m not saying you’re wrong or anything because it is very plausible that BnL never intended to take people back and everything else was simply a facade to trick people.

After all, if a greedy corporation did all of this to ensure a monopoly, then doesn't it stand to reason that they'd set up a protocol in the ship's AI to try and maintain that monopoly in case there was ever evidence that the "need" for humanity to live in space aboard BnL's monopolistic cruisers had passed? This may be your best and most plausible theory so far! Good one!

In order to ensure that they never return to Earth, the humans must be distracted at all times. This is why the "advertisements" play despite anyone working or making money: it's to keep their minds preoccupied with frivilous activities instead of asking questions about Earth which, as we see with the captain, is something that the computer is capable of and willing to answer. It's no longer about making money, it's about following orders in the most effective way possible.

Everyone is just sitting in their chairs and consuming, they basically don't have to pay anything and don't get paid since they don't work. So that means the only money the company got from that project is what the government probably gave them so that they could build the spaceship and the entry ticket everyone had to pay to be onboard.
    You could say that everyone probably had to pay a lot to have that ticket, but we have to remember that they were meant to only spend 5 years in space.

    I do have one minor disagreement with your theory. You say Buy and Large has a motive: to get money. But it is clearly shown that the humans can no longer do anything except, you know, sit around and get waited on. There would be no new money coming in, as none of the humans have jobs. The food and other things the humans get would have to be free. And they have to continuously spend money on maintenance of the robots that do everyone's jobs for them (Detroit much?). Yes, they may have charged an initial fee to get on the space ship, but that would be nothing compared to the cost of running a that thing. And for that matter, why would money matter in space? There is nothing for Buy and Large to buy anymore. They essentially own all there is to own, because all of humanity is on that spaceship. Am I crazy, or does anyone else agree?

BnL did plan on cleaning things up once they got a bunch of money from people, but the environmental impact of their plan was more than they bargained for. So they went into emergency mode and just told the ships to stay out. They were forced to save humanity off of Earth. BnL was gone by the time Wall-E starts, but the robots and ship were programmed to show and use BnL stuff from the beginning, so they just kept using it.

      Could be important political figures, wealthy businessmen that ran BnL or had stocks in it and their families, Workers high enough on the totem pole. 600,000 people isn't everyone on the planet, at least I assume there wouldn't be that few of people given that the current population is about 7,794,798,739. While the Axiom might be one of many ships, there are division. Executive and regular "Tours". Let's say they had about.... 1,000 ships that all had the capacity for 600,000 people. That still leaves about 7,194,798,739 people on earth if the population of earth at this time is what it is now. That is a small fraction of people. No doubt this wasn't a free trip, at least not for the common person. I believe somewhere they mention "Thousands" of ships.... so They would have needed to make about....7,794,799 ships... But again, they mention "Thousands" not tens of thousands, not millions.... Suffice to say they still left a chunk of people behind because they probably did not have ships. But then again, we do not know of this Earth's population. For all we know it could have been on the brink of collapse making is easier to fit everyone on their ships.

    There’s one looming problem with this theory, as matpat said, “Don’t trust everything at first glance”
    since the people on the BnL ship apparently don’t do work, (they were never shown at any time of day to be doing anything else other than sleeping, talking, eating etc) the ship could not have any economic productivity, everyone in humanity is doing practically nothing, so, everyone is supported by the BnL ship.
    Does this mean everyone on the ship is broke? or that BnL just has a really good Universal Basic Income? I don’t know.
    but I do know this, for everyone to live, they need the necessities of life, but since they are not working for those necessities, there is no economy.
    so to conclude this pointlessly long comment that nobody is gonna read, the ship can’t have any economy, because there is no working class.
    Greed could not be a factor, because BnL destroyed the economy by making humanity useless at working.

      That still doesn't make sense, even if they were the biggest company, would it not become apparent to the public that they were doing something wrong? Especially if their products were much more wasteful compared to other companies who could easily promote their superior go green product. I understand they have a lot of money but they still have to compete with Free Market. Also if people expected to be gone only 5 years then would it not become extremely suspicious that they were on their for waaaaaay over 5 years. Wouldn't people start demanding an answer?

    The only problem is that sending everyone into space is a horrible buildings model. I mean sure, the first generation will give every cent, but everyone born over the next 700 years? There doesn’t seem to be any form of currency on the Axiom, so it appears that BnL is just providing these people with food, water, and round-the-clock service without making any profit whatsoever. Fortunately, there’s an easy way to explain this that’s already well-established in the Pixarverse. Most people theorize that at a certain point, BnL was taken over behind the scenes by an AI that was originally programmed to help the company. This AI then set about taking over everything, but because of the parameters programmed into it, it couldn’t directly attack or kill off the humans. So instead, it found a loophole, forcing them into space with its awful business model that destroyed the earth, while still technically caring for the humans so as not to violate its programming. That’s why it still takes care of the humans centuries later, when no logical business or extinction strategy would justify that. And as a result, the AI has the entire Earth to use for its own ends.

Your theory about the AI not being able to hurt humans could work too but as shown in cars 2, in a world with no humans they are having a power crisis. Coincidence? Probably. Anyway I believe the humans are used as a power source for the AI thus letting it live on for ever

    • @1990tcyta

      To control all the money

      And you could live a life of a king you are ( minus all the king's problem like war and stuffs since you're the only king, the supreme king of the human kind )
      Imagine what mand kind could do if they all work together, no need to imagine since BnL had already covered that. With their humongous weath, they made robots to do their bidding
      Now since they don't need to worry about money anymore cause there is no money anymore, they share their products with the people
      After all a king need his people and a god need his followers

    Wall-E compacts trash but doesn’t touch roads, signposts, other robots. So somewhere in his programming is an algorithm that separates trash from non-trash. One day he runs across something that defies catagorisation, and unable to process it he simply stores it for later... this was his first trinket. As time passed his programming grew to encompass more and more trinkets and more self-awareness. It was this expanded reasoning that allowed him to make the leap of salvaging other robots for parts. As centuries ground past all the other robots broke down but wall-e was able to keep going.
