      Hey man thanks for your comment. Yeah it's one simple but very intricate job to knit the kick and bass together .
      In my opinion serum still delivers some of the best tightness and control although the envelope(lfo ) is linear and not logarithmic. The grid lock also is very helpful to know ranges and have recallable points where it is good and not so good and get back into range.
      I still use serum for all my kicks I might make an update tutorial on the more refined technique but this is the jist of it really.
      The tick envelope ( or pitch envelope 2), try to make that one undet 1 or 2ms for a more natural sounding top end or attack of your kick.
      Boom

    Very very nice Tron! Just one little recommendation to make it even better, if I may, because I can see how starters could have questions about a few things you did... I think going a slight bit more in depth with a very short explanation on why you do something that's "out of the ordinary" for many people who are in their first years of production, like exoscope 6:05 for example. I don't know if everybody understood what to watch you for in the scope.
    I could be wrong and I know you have a 10min format, but maybe a short explanation here and there could add even more educational value :) ...and otherwise great video. Keep that up.

    • @HomegrownAudioChannel
      @HomegrownAudioChannel  Před 3 lety +1

      Totally!! Parallel is killer I do a bit of that in a later video!
      For kick I generally use multiband distortion or saturation on channel. Compression on the group helps a lot with the undesired thumps.
      Parallel compression is super good to get it all sounding punchy 🥁.
      I would just do 1 or 2db compression on each stage (except parallel) where I go to town

    Hello Sir , really dig your tutorials ! i have a question for you , if you dont mind answering it or i would love to see a tutorial on it if possible . how do you deal with bassline note changes , i mean retaining the punchiness yet have those harmonics of the note changes and sounds cohesive with kick even as the phase of the bassline changes with the note change . Thanks in advance sir :)

    • @HomegrownAudioChannel
      @HomegrownAudioChannel  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello! Great question.
      In terms of phasing there is gonna be a problem when changing the first b of the kbbb cos will mix on the kick differently.
      Some notes will be fine with certainkick phase positions some won't. First is to get the best kick phase position.
      Second is eq on different notes. U can adapt an eq like equilibrium to follow midi so the bands follow the harmonics.
      I generally use a different synth for hi notes and other for low notes too

    • @akraghav92
      @akraghav92 Před 3 lety

      @@HomegrownAudioChannel oww is it ?!     • @HomegrownAudioChannel
      @HomegrownAudioChannel  Před 3 lety

      @@akraghav92 easy.. if you wanna set it up you need to open menu and select GUI midi input ON.

    -Are you inserting mexoscope on the master channel, right? You wanna see what, exactly? A nice sinewave? I noticed you adjusted the phase til the waveform started to look senoidal.
    -Do you ever used bazzism for the kicks? Don´t you prefer it?
    Thanks buddy

    • @HomegrownAudioChannel
      @HomegrownAudioChannel  Před 4 lety

      I used bazzism for many years. It is beautiful plugin very simple and u can get a very good kick.
      Problem is no phase correction from oscillator so if u wanna phase the kick with bass on the kick side u have to change pitch curve which is going to change the sound a lot... Is why I prefer serum

    • @HomegrownAudioChannel
      @HomegrownAudioChannel  Před 4 lety +1

      And yes s(m)exoscope I put on stereo out to check mix on end of kick and beggining of bass. (also end of bass and beggining of kick is important to separate).
      I aim for a sine looking kick end but also I look for the kick not changing shape with or without the bass playing.

    • @HomegrownAudioChannel
      @HomegrownAudioChannel  Před 4 lety

      Really not sure in real life terms how to calculate since it is measured in pixels vs samples. Its beyond me at this point !!!
      This is the Smartelectronix explanation.
      Time controls the number of pixels per sample. The lower the number, the finer the resolution of the waveform. The lowest value is 31.62 pixels to draw every sample, and the highest setting is 0.001... meaning that every pixel of length represents 1000 samples.
      The waveform itself will change colours to indicate if it is above or below 1 sample per pixel. At a Time of 1 or lower, a grey waveform display shows that more than one sample is compressed into each pixel. When Time is set higher than 1, a blue waveform indicates that the resolution uses more pixels to draw each sample. The figure below demonstrates the differences between extreme time settings.

      You should buy the latest Computer Music magazine, download the plugin vault and use VPS Scope instead. You can sync it to bpm, much easier than smex.

    Can I edit the phase of base line, not kick?

      You can but it mess the transient and the harmonics. Generally is best to leave bass phase in the start of the waveform.

    I analyze it with fabfilter pro-Q, and it barely goes over 2khz, why's that?! I have nothing EQed at all, nothing on master or whatsoever, everything similar to your example.

      The top part of kick is going only to 2 kHz? Where did u paint the midi notes? Very important is between c3 and c4 which is the middle part of keyboard

      I can't find your other comment but I will reply here. The env2 modulation is going into coarse pitch as well... The edit on the video ended up a bit too long and the drag up doesn't seem to show.. In the zoom in part on matrix tab u can see when I say unipolar that mod is on crs pitch - >

      @@HomegrownAudioChannel Guess it was an readout error or something. It sounds good, and when having a 4 Kick Pattern it reaches >9k well :)
