    Awesome look at different pastes! I use KP and for cost-to-performance MX-4 or MX-6 :)

      I tested out MX-6 in my previous video and it also did quite well. Definitely a good choice for regular use.

    As far as the paste itself goes the corsair paste osnt that good but the stencil design for the thermal paste they use is very nice. Those 3m stencils are very nice tools, so nice i decided to make a small little thin card like template that i can connect to the cooler mount to use to apply the paste. Almost every acrylic test i did to see how it spreads especially with nice pastes like Noctua or kryonaut it spreads so perfectly that there is no air and a thin layer that just perfectly completes thermal transfer very well. On some of my twsts just that grid pattern alone lowered temps by up to 3c!

    Who picked these? Wish we had Mx6, grizz extreme, and gelid gc4

    • @RednekEngineer

      I picked them. I tested out the MX6 and TG kryonaut in the first thermal paste video I did.

      @@RednekEngineer apparently the GC4 is the best in this reviewer's testing czcams.com/video/VsryOqUyT-Q/video.html&ab_channel=LevelUPGaming%26Tech. Would be interested if you got the same results. I'm currently on NT-H2 for my 14900k w Lian Li Galahad II LCD AIO and it's been very good overall but if the GC-4 is that much better, I'm willing to get it.

    Would bake-in over time see performance increase?

    • @RednekEngineer
      @RednekEngineer  Před 7 měsíci

      According to the manufacturers bake in is generally not needed since you don’t actually want your thermal paste to be dry.

    you prob put way too much with the corsair without using the included applicator, it's meant to help limit how much you put on and give you a consistent spread. I would retest it again if were you.

    • @RednekEngineer
      @RednekEngineer  Před 5 měsíci

      No I didn't, because I pre-spread the thermal paste with a spatula and removed the excess. If you put too much thermal paste on its very obvious and the thermals would have been significantly worse

    Personally in my opinion i would say the arctic mx-6 is the best thermal paste, But if you like overclocking, Then go for the thermal grizzly because it is alot colder.

    I tried XTM70 on my PS3 and got notifications of overheating. And for $25? You’d expect it to be better. I got MX4 after wasting $25 on it and never got the overheating notification again.

    • @RednekEngineer
      @RednekEngineer  Před 5 měsíci

      I didn't have that issue with the XTM70. but it highly depends on the amount of thermal paste used. Since the XTM70 was so thick, it made applying the right amount pretty difficult

  • @zoe1882

    Noctua and Corsair thermal paste? I'm confused why isn't Arctic MX-anything or Gelid GC Extreme in this test? Again really? People use Noctua paste? I don't use Arctic but I know a lot of people do, I personally prefer GC Extreme. I've used Kryonaut but I don't like it as much as I don't think it stands up as long over time as GC Extreme does. I'd rather not have to drain and refill my loop every 6 months just because of thermal paste.

    Arctic:
    "Can our CPU coolers be used with liquid metal?
    Our CPU coolers should never be used with liquid metal (such as Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut), as they can cause strong oxidation when they come into contact with aluminum and copper. The base plate can be damaged to the point of material failure."

    • @RednekEngineer
      @RednekEngineer  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Copper’s reaction with Liquid Metal is very different from aluminum. While it does react to it and get stained it does retain its thermal properties. Aluminum on the other hand has a much stronger reaction and turns into a black dust

    • @kiwiguri
      @kiwiguri Před 7 měsíci

      @RednekEngineer I just copied from Arctic web site. It's not recommended to use liquid metal with AIO.

    • @asafbinderman594
      @asafbinderman594 Před 6 měsíci +2

      @@kiwiguri theres no issue whatsoever using liquid metal with copper or nickel plated copper heatsinks. the problem is mostly with aluminum based plates as it forms a strong reaction which with the gallium, which baisically "eats away" the aluminum. the reaction with copper is marginal, mostly cosmetic, and doesnt destroy the heat treasnfer properties of it, and if the heatsink is nickel plated its even better as it has no reaction at all. its simply not true to state its not safe to use with AIO's. if you know what youre doing and you know the basic chemistry behind it, theres no problem with it whatsoever.

  • @UltimateEnd0
    @UltimateEnd0 Před 2 měsíci

    Kingpin KPx is the best but lasts the shortest, if you are an overclocker or someone who is anal and cleans your computer every 3 months then go for it. The juice isn't worth the squeeze. How many times can you take the CPU heatsink w/o causing damage?

    • @RednekEngineer
      @RednekEngineer  Před 2 měsíci +1

      It did give a pretty significant boost in performance, but I’d agree that if you don’t want to change it every 3-6 months it’s not worth the effort. I think the damage depends on what heatsink material you have. Nickel plated copper won’t react and will last for basically forever. Copper won’t last forever but it’s hard to say if that surface reaction will ever start affecting performance

    You wasted xtm70 paste because you didn’t use the 3M stencil they include. It’s thick ass paste!

    • @RednekEngineer
      @RednekEngineer  Před 4 měsíci

      I do the same thing for every paste. I over-apply then spread it to ensure the entire IHS is covered and the paste layer isn't too thick. When the tube of paste is $8-$10 I'm really not worried about wasting some of it
