Good video, as cool as it is having a bigger screen, the price doesn't justify the fact it's just bigger and no touchscreen functions.
So is that a no for someone like me who could use a bigger screen this size for like let’s say when I’m using Art Academy Home Studio on my Wii U device??? Even when using the Art Academy Lessons For Everyone on my 3DS XL Device that could connect to this bigger monitor device??
Heck, or even when using Art Academy or Colors Live 3D Art application games on the Switch Oled device???

Bearing in mind that the switch is working in Docked Mode (the energy comsuption is higher than hanheld Mode ) using a 20.000mah powerbank for instance.... How many hours can you play??

Man for a second I thought I somehow completely forgot Fallout was available on the switch just to get immediately disappointed. Man I'd love to have 3 or New Vegas on the Switch.

If I don’t use my official switch cord my switch can detect it and will not let me use the monitor… therefore it isn’t portable for me.. am I missing something?

So I was heavily considering purchasing something like this for my switch. As it is used as a mobile game station, you can see why a device like this would be appealing. The larger screen is in the zone where you want a bigger screen bit not something as big as a full size TV or monitor without the bulk or cumbersome. My biggest hint that this was not for me, was that the ppi for the screen is not disclosed.eaning that with a bigger screen, you could lose out on details compared to the original screen and especially the oleds. I wish the speakers were front facing. The kickstand should be centered or at least elongated for added stability. While the current kickstand will suffice for flat hard surfaces, the device will find itself toppling over on soft or padded surfaces. Other than that I love the universal battery bank straps and the fact that the switch is dockable to retain power on/off and volume switches. The screen is not touch sensitive so any games or ui utilizing that will not work and will make you revert to using tactile controls. Bonus points is that this has an hdmi input so its compatible with other devices other than the switch. If this was priced more around $200 then I could see more buyers
So what if, you wanted the monitor with the higher temperature better see how you’re drawing your art like when using or playing Art Academy on the Switch or Wii U??? Where you use a stylus or something that touches the screen.
@@ChristianGibbons777 drawing on a switch? Unless this is for children to have fun, I wouldn't be drawing on a switch even with the orion (can't cause not touch screen). Better off sticking with a surface or samsung tablet. I personally own a tab s8 ultra which satisfies all drawing needs

Then I guess I’d be open minded to that as well. Assuming I can still use my Stylus from the Wii U or 3DS XL Stylus on the Tablet???
@@ChristianGibbons777 the samsung tab 8 and Microsoft surface pro come with stylus that allows you to draw. In your case if you're on a budget, get any tablet and buy a seperate stylus. There are a few art apps on the playstore that should satisfy all your needs
Question is, does this put the switch in docked mode where the resolution is at least a little bit better?
The Orion is basically a 3rd-party dock built into a display so yes the Swich can then output in docked mode (i.e. FHD by default,) but because the display resolution is WXGA that means the image is scaled regardless of output resolution. That in turn means that the image will be a bit fuzzy due to scaling, so it would probably make the most sense to set the Switch's docked output resolution to HD and keep the slight performance boost due to being in docked mode.
One more demographic - easy multiplayer fun at bars and gatherings
I'm a bartender and I carry around a massive gaems guardian pro suitcase TV for impromptu smash bros gatherings. This thing looks a lot more convenient, especially with the option of battery power and not having to lug around the dock and connectors. Just a laptop sleeve for the Orion and a personal bag for controllers. It's also nice to be able to take this out on my porch for some casual tabletop mode gaming with my pro controller
The cons honestly are a big enough deal for me to discredit what the Orion can do. Not so great visual quality isn't going to change the fact that gaming on a 12" monitor is more fun than a 6-7" one... But I can't say the same for the price. That's ludicrously expensive. If it included the battery? Yeah sure I might go for that, but 250-300 buckaroos for the monitor alone is making me wince
I still may go for it, but only because there's no other options on the market that do what the Orion can. It's still painful though lol

It’s $350 where I saw this for sale. $299.99 on the website plus any tax and shipping. So it’s about the same as buying a new switch. But with your review not so good screen. I saw this in person and wanted it. Till I saw this video. If it’s blurred then I can pass at that price anyway. This has to come down sometime soon.

yes. the Orion has an HDMI input, which means you can just use it as a TV for anything with an HDMI port on it
