Emissions is definitely the main reason for the stock tune, on every bike now. They have to make it run pretty much as lean as possible while still being reliable, and emissions regs are getting tighter every year. It's one of the reasons Suzuki doesn't bother upgrading their lineup very often since new engine development already costs hundreds of millions. Even more difficult when every year your emissions requirements get more strict.
I’ve never understood emissions regulation on motorcycles, it would take you a life time of riding a 400 to burn as much as a private jet burns in a year and a SUV would in 5

I’ve got a 2020 R3, just added a Toce Full System and I love it! Going with Norton Motorsports for the ECU Flash, and Velocity Stacks. I love those 400’s too, definitely the bike to get if you plan on squeezing power from a small displacement motorcycle. Excited to see the new ZX-4R and hopefully a R4. I’m now making 42RWHP with my tuned R3, up from the stock 37RWHP. With similar mods, the Ninja 400 can make up to 59-60RWHP. The Ninja is a beginner bike you can upgrade and enjoy for awhile, definitely the bike to get.

I assume from what I've heard and seen from yammie and other in different countries who have it its like basically a ecu flashed 400 in a that let's out a few hp and bit more torque. I still wouldn't get it because im not a fan of the supersport riding position, but who knows... I only had a chance to sit on a zx6r and I don't like not being able to flat foot and feel like I'm reaching.

I honestly prefer the ninja400 to the 650 in almost every way. They’re not even really comparable at all once you take a closer look. The Ninja 400 is a 2cylinder race bike while the 650 is more like a sport tourer with a bigger emphasis on “sport” than “tourer”
My theory is keep your bike stock until you have racked up some decent kilometers. Stock everything. I think 20,000 km (about 12,000 miles) should be enough. Yes, unless your engine is well worn in any mod could blow up the engine...

They should really make a ZX-4R with the 4-Cylinder thats in the ZX-25R and sell it in the U.S. It would absolutely blow the R3 out of the water. In India, they have the ZX-25R and with an Orion exhaust, the thing screams and sounds like a Ferrari.

Perfect bike for Australia. Generally Australia’s top speed is 100kmh including highways. That’s 60mph, Americans seem to need a fast bike, they need a high top speed due to higher speed limits. If you’re Aussie then this is a perfect daily rider

im 16 and im in peru for a year and im using my dads little cafe racer 250 and practicing on that. In i year when i move back to cali ive been wanting to get a zx6r 4 cylinder just becuase of the sound, power, etc. But after seeing this maybe i just get a 400 and if i want more power eventually i just get an ecu flash and tune.
why does everyone think the 400 tops out at 100 or 110. on flat ground you can do 124 with a stock 400 and downhill you can do 130 and then it tops out. I just got my bike from the dealer not long ago and only have a slip on straight pipe.

He must do another video to prove this Dyno flash really works. In the video I did not see any noticeable change. Any sport bike can be lifted in 2 gear.👎

I went to their website but on all their products(exhaust and ecu flashing) they have the disclaimer of being for 'closed course competition' only-I guess they're still happy to sell it to anyone who pays for it-I'm no fucking mechanic though so I'd have to get my local motorcycle store to install it-of course I need to buy the Ninja 400 first and the price is right compared to the higher cc bikes-back in the '80's I had a Yamaha RD400-I don't consider the 400 to be a 'beginner's bike' though it's a class of bike that is for ALL because it has enough acceleration and top end for the average sane human being while remaining lightweight and with ABS as well.
almost anything involving ecu tuning and ive noticed alot of the bike stuff has that warning strictly cause they have to legally. they cant advertise it to use on the street since the governement doesnt like poeple having fun.

It's a 10-R for a reason. The R is for Race. So it's the most track oriented bike. So less stuff that's good for street use and more stuff good for track.

Velocity stacks and MWR Filter should give it even more power, albeit the gains are relative

I have a norton flashed 93 octane ninja 400 with airbox mods and slip on and hit an indicated 131 mph. stock was just over 118
I hit 120 on stock, felt like I could possible reach 125 max but that’s the fastest I’ve gone on my 23

@@davidgesell just FYI, I got my ECU flash back from 2 wheels dyno and yes, it got rid of the jerky throttle, runs much smoother & it's more drivable

I find it odd that the Ninja 1000, Ninja 400, and 636 all have fuel gauges in the cluster but the ZX10-R only has a low fuel warning.

I can clutch up 2nd gear on my completely stock 400 lol. You can’t power up but you can clutch up 1st and 2nd gear EASY.
