    'This 2016 Ford F150 is in the XLT trim level, a mid range trim in the line up but still very well equipped, I go over some of the new features for 2016 and some of the features that are class exclusive and a first in the truck segment such as the Pro Trailer Backup Assist.

    I got over 10k off sticker by shopping on autotrader, called dealer and did 90% of everything over the phone. The dealer was 3.5 hours from my home. This gave me a long drive home to get to know the 2017 Crew 4wd 2.7 STX. Had it about a month and have to admit I have fallen in love. Hauling grandkids, they have tons of room, my wife loves the comfort the 2.7 has plenty get up go when you need it and I'm seeing better than 19 mpg around town, my brother in law gets about 15.6 out of his Silverado which is a very nice ride and he pretty heavy footed. Chevy, Ram and Toyota all build great trucks, but economy, comfort and real price this Ford was right for me, I wanted a full size truck after years and great service out of Tacomas there is just no comparing a full size to a small pickup. Riding down the road with son his 2 kids and 15 square bails of hay in the bed, windows down and Charlie Daniels playing on the radio, I knew that this Ford might not be everyone's cup of tea, but at that very moment never been a man more satisfied with a machine since ole Henry thought about attaching a box to back a model T. Take time to enjoy those great moments no matter what your driving or how young or old you are, 90% of the people in this world don't have any hope of being as Blessed as we Americans are!

    My dad bought his 2008 XLT Supercrew 4x4 with chrome & tow package brand new in 2008 for $24k, and it's worth $17k today, 8 years later. In terms of pricing, it's all timing. Gas prices are low now, so not the best time to buy, and yeah I agree the MSRP on these trucks are a joke lately. I'm inclined to believe these big auto manufacturers are tied in with the cost of oil. Hybrids, eco diesels, eco boosts or big old school V8. They just turn a knob to fine tune based on market conditions.

    Test drove a 2016 super cab yesterday with a 2.7 . I don't think there is another truck that compares! Test drive one before you comment. You can feel how much lighter it is when you drive it and its like driving a sports car in feel. The 2.7 would be the perfect smartest choice. I've talked to three people with 2.7 super cab and they are getting 22mpg in town and 26mpg highway. Having said that I will be getting the 5.0 and adding headers because the 5.0 is a modifiers dream but out of the box the 2.7 is perfect. The 2.7 is faster out of the box I just want the 5.0 for the sound and familiar V8 feel. Having worked on HMMV's for over 20 years yes it would cost more to fix an aluminum panel but way harder to dent. You won't be seeing the new f150 all dinged up like an older truck. Aluminum has a more resilient nature. As for the Chevy Bed commercial if you realize what's going on they are making themselves transparent in a lot of ways just rino line the bed for less then $500 bucks and have a truck that makes the chevy look 20 years old!

    I wish they would offer better seat upholstery on the XLT. The Dodge Ram Sport has really nice vinyl and cloth seat combo. The Sierra All Terrain has leather trimmed with cloth inserts (kinda like the Ram Sport). Ram 1500 Sport I can get for $40k, a Sierra All Terrain is about $48k, to get some better seats on the F150 you have to step up to the lariat at $54k. (Canadian Prices)
    On the previous gen F150 FX4 was a separate trim (kinda like the Ram Sport) and you can option leather seats.

  • @brucec43
    @brucec43 Před 8 lety

    The key to keeping them affordable is laying off the options. The "nice to have" things are what depreciate badly. The guts of the machine is what brings value down the line when some guy w/o a huge budget wants to buy a reliable used truck. Heck, Dodge will sell you a 4x4 crew cab 1500 Express equipped to work and tow (5.7, trailer brake controller, hitch,20's, bedliner) for about $30,000 fairly well equipped at the right time of year. Plus taxes and fees. I'm sure has a similar truck priced not too much more than that. But by all means if you want a country Cadillac (I had one) enjoy. Just get your checkbook out.

  • @R777-RLM
    @R777-RLM Před 8 lety +2

    The cloth seats on these trucks are made of slick shiny fabric, about like the base truck 15 yrs ago. My 99 F-150 had a soft classy velour interior, with cloth on the doors and carpet kick panels on the doors, instead of just hard plastic. Also it's to bad Ford isn't focusing on improving there V8 engines, instead of pushing their turbo V6's that are expensive and have questionable reliability and longevity. F-150's do have a strong STEEL front suspension, unlike the GM and Ram 1/2 ton's Aluminum front suspension's

    • @85MasterV
      @85MasterV Před 8 lety +3

      +ron mortensen The fabric is made from Reprieve, a company that uses recycled materials for durable fabric in vehicles and industrial applications. Also, the new 5.0L V8 in the F150 was redesigned, and now has 20 more hp and a more broad torque curve from the 2014 model.

    • @R777-RLM
      @R777-RLM Před 8 lety

      +Chainheart Machine It's great that the seats are durable we all want that, but with today's technology they could look and feel more like a velour, something soft and inviting. The 5.0L V8 seems like a good engine, but they should also offer the 6.2L. Off the subject a little, Ford only offers the 3.5L Turbo in the Expedition. As the owner of a Turbo vehicle, I wouldn't buy another one.

    • @85MasterV
      @85MasterV Před 8 lety +1

      ron mortensen Yea I know what you mean, I had an '84 T-bird with velour seats and soft cushion, super comfortable, it was like a high quality mattress. I think the leather seats in the Lariat and up feels nicer but for a truck I personally prefer something durable, I use the cab for cargo and I have kids.

    • @R777-RLM
      @R777-RLM Před 8 lety

      +jldude84 Glad you commented. The new 5.0L Coyote engine is promising, but Ford pulled the 6.2L,V8 engine from the F150 almost immediately, leaving only one V8 surrounded by a N/A V6, and two Turbo V6's.
      My point is that Ford has two good N/A V8's, which should be continually improved for durability and better MPG, and be available as options for all F150's, as well as the Expedition, which only has the 3.5L V6 Turbo.

  • @brucec43
    @brucec43 Před 8 lety +3

    A loaded XLT would not be a great value at resale time. I would choose a higher trim level and lay off some of the options. My FX4 (a trim line in 2012) with leather drove off the lot for $37,000 and brought $29,500 at trade-in 3.75 years later. Some XLT's are rolling off lots in the mid 30's new, you are not going to recoup $15,000 of options at resale. Expecially on a $50,000 MSRP cloth-seated pickup. It will not be perceived by most buyers the same, fair or not.

    • @AutoVlogOfficial
      @AutoVlogOfficial  Před 8 lety +2

      +Bruno TaTa I understand what you are saying. However, times change and the trim levels have changed, bottom line is that you can now get an XLT that has more features then any FX4 could ever have back in 2012. The F150's hold their value pretty good across the board. Even though this XLT does not have leather it is now available in that trim level :)

    • @brucec43
      @brucec43 Před 8 lety

      +northlander The Ford dealer. That was Kelly Blue book on it. Low mileage. Super clean, always garaged. And when you compare it to a new leather/OEM Kicker subwoofer and amp upgrade installed, /sync/power slider/bedliner/cooled seats/heated seats/5.0 /20" wheels equipped FX4 that was over $45,000 out the door in the real world at the time, it was a steal. A lot of people didn't like the new styling either at the time. I always pay cash, but their payment would be $250 less a month. That's why.

    • @brucec43
      @brucec43 Před 8 lety +1

      +Bruno TaTa I just priced it at TrueCar and with $7500 off MSRP it works out to $49,500 (dealer fee, taxes, etc) for the Lariat equivalent of my 2012. (mid 501a package). So if the dealer turned my trade for $32,500 and pocketed $3,000 (no refurb needed, tires were new and upgraded) the buyer saved $16,000. That's about $300/month in payments on a 60 month loan. Prices have indeed risen on these trucks for given equipment levels as far as I can tell.

    Nice truck. Not that I'm trying to start a Ford vs. Chevy debate or anything, I'm a pretty objective person, this costs more than an equivalent Chevy Silverado Z71 LT package and I think the Chevy has a few more features, like remote start, trailer package, no slam tail gate. As far as personal opinion, think the radio, entrainment system in the Chevy has a better look than the blocky widows 95 look.

First, they implemented a window jamming feature and when doing an automatic raising of the windows especially at highway speed it will falsely detect and go half the way down. I think I may activate the lemon law and have them purchase my vehicle back because they cannot FIX it. Very bad when it is raining! It also acts up when going down a gravel road even at 35 mph. Second, there is the activation of recycle air when selecting air conditioning. I purchased a used 2013 C-Max that stunk from body odor because of this feature. The F150 (also the 2016 Escape) does this also. Having to look and hit the recycle to turn it off is distracting and I feel contributes to eyes taken away from driving. Third, the fog lights are totally useless (also on C-Max and Escape) and only reduce road view when on due to excess light near the vehicle. Fourth, the review mirror does not dim and even day time running lights are annoying behind you. Fifth, the other most annoying thing is that when you shut off the vehicle it does not remember your previous settings and you have to reset then constantly upon starting it. Oh, I forgot the cruise control buttons you have to look at them to cancel, the C-Max and Escape (2016 and not the 2017) had far better buttons with the resume/cancel on the lever below. so I guess there are Six.

      Sounds more to me like you bought a vehicle that you didn't test out enough before purchasing.
      None of those even remotely qualify it for a lemon buy-back. If the window doesn't go all the way back at the touch of a button, go old school and hold the button down that extra 3 seconds. What do you mean it "acts up" on gravel roads? AC recycling air, isn't there a button to de-activate that (regardless, if it's a standard feature you bought the vehicle with that, not their fault). Fog lights are to help break up fog and improve vision in those situations, not day to day clear condition driving. What settings does it forget? Unless it's got a battery issue or short where you have to reset the radio stations, no issue there that could possibly warrant a lemon buy-back.

      @kenbloom7518 Před 8 lety +1

      That is the problem, when you activate the automatic up you cannot stop what it does. So you have to wait until it gets half way down and then carefully hold it without activating the auto up. Every other electronic device I have come back to the same state as when I left it when I turn it on. Recycle should act the same, i.e. poor design. There are more things I don't like on the GM and Dodge trucks so maybe I should look at non US vehicles.

      That's why they are pushing self driving vehicles. It's about convenience and control, these technologies make life easier in someways, but as you say they can and I believe will be the downfall of many. Think Jeep Hack. I am about to purchase a New Ford F150 and if this feature comes with it I will use it as a novelty, but I have some who can back up manually but b/c of age may need it.

    • @lynmar
      @lynmar Před 8 lety +2

      +Adrokk well thats alittle unfair to say. not many people back up a trailer on a daily basis. ive backed up many trailers in my lifetime, but there are many many months in between each time, so it takes alittle getting use to when you do it the next time. and the parking assist is for parallel parking and the majority of people in the country have never experienced a area where they would need to do that. so if you go out of town and go somewhere that has street parking and you have to parallel park, if your truck was sitting there and someone who has never done it before had to, which would you rather have, someone trying it for the first time and hitting your vehicle, or the parking assist that does it for them without hurting your vehicle, theres only one obvious answer to that

    Give me an Ecoboost V8 and I'll consider giving up my 5.4. I'm a die hard Ford guy, owning 4 of them at the moment and countless over the years, but Ford seems to be losing sight of one thing. People around the world all talk about the 'American V8.' If we all go 4 and 6 cylinder, and eliminate the V8, it gets rid of what makes American brands iconic.......and sound better than others, only to become a 'me too' brand. Mileage differences in a v6 or v8 of the same engine technology are negligible. Make an Ecoboost V8, keep the heritage, get mileage and proudly let the engine roar.
