I loved Andor, and liked Kenobi and Asoka. I’m disappointed in the Acolyte, not of any “agenda," just poor production value. But if someone loves it, great. It keeps me interested, just not my cup of tea.
Excatly I am with you as well except Andor I fell asleep many times during, i dont think it is bad just boring to me, Ashoka was needed it is rebels season 5 and I loved it, it was not perfect but it was for me. This show is just written by someone that does not love star wars that is all
I literally forget that Kenobi exists for periods of time. Which is crazy because it was one of the main "Star Wars Stories" I used to dream about/wish they would tell.
Ummmm I don't think so, having a neutral opinion and just preferring something else is not acceptable. You have to hate the show and make hating it your personality until it concludes.

Not sure how someone can seriously say they like Kenobi. So many awful cheesy scenes. Leia's chase scene makes me barf
The CGI in some scenes are awful, the acting is dry from everyone besides Ewan.
The TRENCH COAT scene?
Vader letting Obi Wan go from a simple little fire when he had him dead to rights.
Obi Wan not ending Vader when he had him beat and Vader literally says "I killed Anakin"
Just everything about that show infuriates me. More than the Acolyte, they treated two of the biggest characters in the franchise like trash.
Ngl, it's a pain in the ass to engage in any form of discussion in the Star Wars community nowadays because of these people.

I like how, as Star Wars fans, we measure fandom in terms of "more or less toxic"
Not watching the 4th and 5th yet is a prophetically wise decision because they work a lot better as essentially 1 hour long episode, rather than 2, 30 minute episodes hacked into two parts.
They are still crap, specially since you kill off screen the only live action Jedi Wookiee we ever had because $180 was not enought to give us a 2 minute fight

Agree 100% with the controversy over Lesley's R2 joke, AND not being keen on the witch stuff that they had even when George was in charge. The Acolyte's power of many is considerably more goofy than the Nightsisters or World Between Worlds from Rebels, but that doesn't mean that stuff isn't still goofy.
There's another Watchmen quote: "Nothing ever ends."
The whole discourse just feels forced considering that the show itself seems to be the live action equivalent of a C grade EU novel that you find on a clearance bin in a bookstore.
I actually recall someone on Twitter saying that the people engaging in this discourse would probably be raving about The Acolyte if it had the same plot and characters, but came out in the 90s as a series of graphic novels, they're just upset about who's actually telling this story and are looking for excuses to be angry about it

I'm personally really enjoying the Acolyte. It's not perfect, but like you mentioned, it reminds me of the things I liked about the Prequels.
As always I truly appreciate your opinions, even when I don't really agree. In the end, it's a show. We all love Star Wars, but one thing in the universe we don't connect with shouldn't ruin our fun. It's not that big of a deal.
I went in with an open mind, and was pleasantly surprised. I like the setting, and the lack of Skywalkers or Palpatine. I detect no agenda with this show whatsoever!
I'm totally ok with the series and I say that openly.
It truly is like a 2010 EU novel as a show, ok has cool moments, its def gonna be like niche forever, though combo 4/5 its crazy good together
Good for you like he says, it is not for me it is not for many. Years from now when you sit with an open mind you will notice the mistakes made with this show and understand that has nothing to do with being Woken
Third episode just kind of got boring for me so I'll wait for the whole thing to drop and hey if it's actually kind of good in the end overall cool, if not I got the other shows 👍

This recent hate over what is at most a mediocre show is too much, man. This ain't even the worst star wars show Disney has produced in my opinion, but rage-baiters are out here clearly making mountains out of mole hills for profit. Reminds me of the anti-sjw fad that I got swept up into way back in the 2010s, now folks are falling back into the maelstrom again as if they've not learned anything from the past. Maybe they never did.

I’m enjoying acolyte. It’s not my favorite but it’s fun. I love seeing the Jedi in action again. I’ll have to wait until the show is done to fully decide how I feel. It’s so sad how grown men are behaving in such a manner that it’s affecting their lives. Like why? I’m happy for level headed critiques and optimistic but realistic CZcamsrs like you hello greedo. If it’s not your thing, you don’t diss anyone who loved this. You like what you like and everyone does as well. Thank you for your positive and real atmosphere 😊

The quality of the show isn’t even the issue, it’s the constant grifting and cynicism that’s the most annoying thing, it makes me want to just like the show out of spite.
idk imo only actual hate and attacking the people is bad. If they release a good show like Andor, even most of the cynical people like it. Acolyte is definitely more interesting than some of the shows, but the writing is still questionable, editing pretty bad and pacing weird

I firmly agree, I haven't been blown away by The Acolyte as such, but I've definitely been enjoying it. The central mysteries and the exploration of the Jedi in a more sketchy and kind of morally questionable fashion have been very interesting, and the action scenes are largely well-executed. I do think the pacing and structure is proving to be a problem though, the first two episodes set things up nicely, but the next few have really dragged and kind of killed the momentum of the story. The dialogue is also very hokey (though that's not really anything new for Star Wars tbf), and the characters are rather flat and underdeveloped, not helped by the performances; the cast are pretty good, but with the exception of Lee Jung-jae (who has been consistently excellent), none of them have really had much chance to impress. That said, this week's episode was a really strong one, one of the best non-Andor episodes of live-action Disney+ Star Wars, so hopefully things will pick up now and The Acolyte will really get a chance to impress with the second half of the season

I was iffy about this show, Episode 5 was pretty solid.
Bro said “I have a career, I have a family” 😂 but fr overall I agree. I don’t love the show and it does feel like Star Wars misses the mark for me a lot lately, but being ridiculous or rude or pointing out dumb things instead of actual criticisms is annoying.

I'm really liking the show so far, not the best in terms of production but I never really cared about, the plot and the mistery is what grabs me. And the fifth episode is some of the best Star Wars we've ever had

The "claustrophobic" observation hits the nail right on the head for me. It's my only real gripe about it. The truth is, most of the Disney+ Star Wars shows have felt that way to me. Andor is maybe the one exception. I think I just wish these shows looked more cinematic instead of like they should've released on the Disney Channel in the 2010's.

This week I almost lost my job for the second time in the past 6 months so my life has far too much going on for me to get mad about star wars not being perfect like it hasn't been ever in its entire life span. I'm enjoying the Acolyte, sometimes a lot, sometimes not as much, but yeah I like it.

Greedo , so good to see voice of reason on CZcams , with a Star Wars channel ,like you . I really like that , same with Alan of Generation Tech, while he 's a little younger , I'm 42 myself and 45 year old Thor Skywalker until a certain way.
I've enjoyed most Star Wars productions myself, although I can see the flaws in any production, I tend to focus on the parts I love than the parts I don't. I found it interesting that the majority of positive feedback I've seen for The Acolyte has been from a younger audience, perhaps the kids who grew up with the sequel trilogy. And if it's hitting home for them, then that makes me happy, because some of the other shows were clearly made for my generation and definitely weren't as easy to follow for the younger ones.

I haven’t started it. I dont know if I will, I hear all the hate. I also understand if The Acolyte is in its own lane, i dont know I haven’t watched it yet. But I will say, what I know happened in episode 4 just hearing about it, angers me enough alone, for the sake of how it just shouldn’t have happened and it needs to be addressed. I feel the witch stuff is dumb but whatever, I’ll probably move past that as long as it just stays where it is and doesn’t affect anything else in the larger canon/universe.

It’s taken years for me to comprehend why I felt Disney Star Wars seemed off. For me it comes down to the way new filmmakers betray the world that George established, especially in the Last Jedi. I’d never walked out of a theater and felt violated before that movie.
Fair, but George never set the world in the first place, hence all the changes mostly for the bad he did. All the way back to the prequels and in between.
This was refreshing to watch!
Hellogreedo I gotta say, I’ve been watching you since around 2015 during the hype train leading up to episode VII, and over the years I have been so relieved to see you avoid becoming the grifter / rage bait CZcamsr that so many Star Wars content creators seem to have become. You always have a reasonable take and don’t blindly like or hate things which I appreciate.

While episodes 1-3 are definitely slow and not the greatest things we have had, episode 4-5 have really kicked things up a notch.. hoping to see the momentum keep going

Honestly, I liked the first two episodes, was disappointed in 3/4, and 5 brought me back on board. My biggest issue is that the dialogue is clunky at times and overall, the characters aren't that well developed yet. Sol was by far the most endearing character to me, but I wish we had more time for other characters like Osha, Jecki, and Yord to interact together. I really think that episode 3 didn't need to be a whole flashback episode and a lot of it could've been used to have those characters develop, but that's my opinion.
I'm hoping it'll stick the landing for me. It's ramping up a lot with episode 5 so we'll see what happens.
I've grown to appreciate this show more with each episode. The mystery/cliffhanger aspect of it has hooked me. I fully agree about much of the acting, but the thing that bugged me the most early was some of the production levels. Mostly the fire set my Mae. First, the book she set on fire was so obviously a controlled prop (I guess I just miss the days when a director would just set a kid on fire and have a couple dudes standing of to the side with some shady fire extinguishers), and the fire never really seemed like a real threat. I'm hoping this is fixed in a flashback.
Star Wars Theory is already planning his response video to this. But sadly it will have to be released after his 5th Leslye Headland takedown vid, a Force Unleased 2 livestream, and an hour long Vader short film update where he asks his viewers for more money to pay off his Lamborghini.

The biggest issue I have with the show is the structure and pacing lol. 8x30-38mins simply is not enough to give us fully developed characters. Which is a shame. This limitation of runtime/ep count is definitely what causes the other problems I have with the show.
But I'm still enjoying it for what it is though, I'm glad for people that really love it. The beauty of storytelling is that some people will gel with some things while others will gel more with other things... shocking I know.

This is pretty spot on. I’ve liked the show better in Ep 4 & 5. I think the show will be worth it if a lot of lore that was in the Skywalker Saga & the Darth Plagueis novel is explained/reintroduced.
What a very intelligent and mature response. Even though I like the show, this video still felt very welcoming.
It also pisses me off when people miss the point. Like blasting that interview where Charlie mistakenly said Anakin instead of Luke blowing up the Death Star. He was trying to make a good argument about how there’s consequences for both good and bad. Like how this show is deconstructing the Jedi.
