      I hate mine too! I bought the deluxe 4200 with the metal Drexel tool box for $159.00. I've used ONLY the grit sander bands (maybe 30 times in six years) and the sander bands come off and like yours, the EZ drum works its way out after only a few seconds. I've never used it past the 15 speed selection. Biggest piece of Sh*t ever sold!

    Now I understand why I have always been confused about the instructions in the manual - My collet has always been inside the nut, since I first got my dremel, and so I was very confused about the collet versus the nut as I had only one piece as far as I could tell. When the collet got stuck closed, I followed your directions and finally I understood that there are two pieces. I tried getting it out, but my nut looks quite different, and since it has never been separate I don't want to force it, and everything is working so I won't try and get the collet out. But my main problem is solved and I understand a lot better now!

    how can i heat up the collet nut without damaging the softer parts around the nut while there is a tool inside which blocks me from removing the plastic cover which you can screw off at the tip?
    I've got a bit of molten polyster or something inside the collet nut and i can't get it loose, the blockage system is not worn down , whatever i try i can't keep the button to lock it pushed down.

    • @rotarycrafts8760
      @rotarycrafts8760  Před 2 lety

      That's a tough one. You could try with a blow torch if you have one, you can get a fair amount of accuracy with it. Or uncrew the plastic cover and push it up towards the bit. Then try to disassemble the Dremel entirely. But you can use he tool without the plastic cover ( i use it without alot ), so if it gets damaged or overheated at the tip of the cover it will still work. :)

      The slot where the shaft lock button goes into to might have become stripped. This can happen if you accidentally press the shaft lock when the tool is running.

    • @rotarycrafts8760
      @rotarycrafts8760  Před 2 lety +2

      If that is the case. You might have to remove the shaft lock button entirely and use the shank of a bit or something similar to act as a shaft lock when yoy want to change bits.

    OMG how can they sell the thing like this without explaining this?? I've been re-reading all the manuals and guides with the 8240 like 5x trying to understand WTF was going on, where the "missing" piece was and why NONE of the provided bits right out of the box fit (which all appear to be 1/8" yet the exposed metal end is clearly much smaller)!

    • @rotarycrafts8760
      @rotarycrafts8760  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Thanks. If referring to n4. You should still be able to remove the collet nut from the Dremel. The collet or the bit is not attached to the Dremel(unless it has rusted on the inside), only the black collet nut. You could try using a big strong pair of pliers while holding down the shaft lock button to unscrew the collet nut.
