- Wrath of the Lich king was one of Blizzard's most successful expansions to World of Warcraft. Even with that, a number of really interesting features and places were cut before release.

in regards to the Nerubians and the old gods, one of the main reasons the Nerubians were so utterly crushed is actually because they turned their back on the old gods- when the Scourge came, they were unable to hold their own because the Scourge attacked them from above and the Faceless from below, utterly destroying their civilization.
This sounds incredibly irony and hilarious.
You know the one I wanted to see. The Sacrifice one of your characters to make it a Death Knight, rather then the DK's we got.
RandolTheFox No, there was a rumour going around in burning crusade that in order to make a death knight you had to kill on of your existing characters to make them a death knight.
and you got to keep some abilities/ability spin offs from your previous class lmfao that would be great
too much effort to make it work tho interesting idea
What would even be the point of that other than RP? You'd end up just rolling a new character knowing full well you were going to change it into a DK.

I really wanted an underground bug raid in WotLK
People didn't like AQ40, and they didn't like Heart of Fear. Face it -- underground bugs are creepy.
HoF was well received. It fit the Pandaria theme very well and the bosses were fun except for windlord.
Just imagine a raid full of nerubian spell flingers and a raid that does not interrupt xD That would have been hell.
Yep would have been awesome
everyone seems to say BC is their favorite expansion, but i genuinely loved Wrath over all others. The rise and fall of arthas leading up to and including his death will always be one of my favorite stories of all time. On top of that, raiding, grouping with the LFD feature, paladin lore (my favorite class), server/realm community, and just generally how it felt to me logging into WoW every day was just better then. So far there hasnt been an expansion that tops WotLK in my opinion. If and when Blizz comes out with a Wrath legacy server, ill probably be signing up day one.
I started with the BC and I didn't like it a single bit, the game just seemed too stale and boring, maybe it's just lack of variety of skills or something, I don't know. Then the Wotlk came out and it felt like a completely different game, there was enough amount of new content to make the game more interesting, entertaining to play, but not too much to the point where you have to almost learn it all over again. Any other expansion after Wotlk is utter garbage, I hate it, so much new shit added, so many changes to skills, ect.. Playing Wotlk to this day and I'm never touching any other expansions.
Wrath and BC best Cata not bad tho either man I miss Wow lol... BC and Wrath was lore fest from w3 especially wrathw3 left so many wtfs regarding Arthas and so many players still prob don't know who Arthas or Nerzhul is... Wish I woulda played Legion Sargeras is a sad story.
''nairubians'' What are those? Must've been cut mobs.
I think he means Nairobians. Which are people from Nairobi...
Are there any ziggurats in Nairobi?
They're probably from Zalandar.
yeah really funny man so funny haha really funny
Obligatory "What''s a Nubian?"
Nubia - An area (former nation) in Southern Egypt and northern Sudan.
Anub'arak should've been ICC raid boss in my opinion
There should have been a full raid dedicated to the nerubians with he as the final boss.
Anub'arak has his own kingdom, so it would be kind of wierd for him to defend someone else... i agree with Nicolas tho
@@GlitchedChocolate Anub' Arak should have a raid located in Azjol Nerub the developers just didn't use full potential of this zone.
@@GlitchedChocolate In Warcraft 3 The Frozen Throne he did exactly just that. He said Arthas when he was not LK yet, that the Lich King sent him to guide Arthas to the Frozen Throne and to protect him. So it would have made sense actually. :-)
The whole underground arachnid kingdom, kel'thuzad, lich king and the new ulduar will be great content in the future

*slow claps* Well done.
God damn it WotLK is so nostalgic to me. It was the only expansion I took part of 100% of the content, had the most free time during my high-school life to devote to it, had all my best RP moments back on the Venture Co. lvl 60 twinking, and had the undisputed best zone music in the game to date. I tear up more than I used to listening to Grizzly Hills and Storm Peaks because, as an adult, I just miss those simpler and more enjoyable times.
no one ever mentions what has been discussed as a possible vyrkul themed raid in the north western portion of icecrown in the huge vyrkul citadel. It looked so amazing and the questing area for the vyrkul around it was pretty fun. Would have loved to have seen that as a raid :(
well now I sure feel old with the 360 p, ty man, ty for bringing back old times like the wrath of the lich king expansion. love you
Crystalsong Forest is my favorite zone.
I remember on the box art/early announcements, There was something about there being an eredar world boss for winning wintergrasp and tuskarr being a playable race.
Miss BC & wrath days :(
Originally Malygos was going to be a whole raid Tier, with more bosses and more loot, with Trolls and Blue Dragon raid loot being moved to Naxxramas. It is common for Blizzard to port raid bosses from their original purpose to the beginning of an expansion as well as turning raids into 5-man's when Blizzard thinks they don't have enough raid content on release(moving bosses to the front) or if they don't have enough 5-man's(turning raids into 5-mans). If these expansions were being released today they would not have bothered and kept them as raids to be released at a later date. Examples of raids turned into 5-man's are Utgarde Pinnacle, Halls of Origination, Mogu-Shan Palace and Shadowmoon Burial Grounds.
I was quite disappointed that Cataclysm's biggest bosses, Nefarian, Ragnaros and Deathwing, were all recycled characters. The only original boss in Cata was Cho'gall.
loved the flying combat on the Drakes during the dungeons and raids
Here's to hoping for a full Azjol-nerub as part of an old gods themed expansion.
Wrath was the perfect expansion. Casual content wasn't just a watered down version of hardcore content (LFR). Casuals could work towards dungeon tier gear by doing dungeons that were actually challenging (the dungeon where you would run from the lich king was hard for a casual). The theme of Wrath was amazing (The whole demon theme has gotten so stale, it was the main focus of BC, main focus of most of WoD, and main focus of Legion, and next xpac will probably be demon focused), leveling was fun and could be different through multiple playthroughs (way better than how legion tried to do it)
Yeah the demons are REALLY stale. The Lich / undead theme is much less used, and the art is far cooler.
The Lich theme is why I liked wrath so much. Nerubians would have made it even better.
i used to love inspecting some motherfucker with fucking SHADOWMOURNE, you knew that guy was big dick
You are delusional. Even with crappy gear, tanks could pull 3 groups and tank them easily. Dungeons were, for 1st time, easy shit. And stayed there after.
Also, Wotlk was 1st expansion in which all classes could do everything in pvp. All had stun, all had silence, all had charge.
ALSO, wotlk had implemented achievements and item level, two of most heinous features to date.
"why develop something that isn't fun" *cough cough* nethershards and apexis
More generally, "WoD Patches" and "the campaign of the ToS"
what is Wod?
ITS VANILLA, TBC WOTLK CATA MOP AND LEGION all 5 expansions
*cough*broken shore*cough*
You forgot Timeless Coins.
Nymri 09 It wasnt bad because you werent FORCED to farm it
Ah. I miss seeing the Crystal song forest. So beautiful. Would grind there for cooking mats.
Greatest expansion ever really miss wrath I hope blizz launch and wrath server at some point
soon
well, there's a quest in Icecrown, it's a daily quest, I think you pick it up at the battleships, or at one of those weird brides in the map, where they made you fly a plane and you had to shoot some enemies down, and those could be Alliance/Horde players (depending on your faction)
I will try to remember to come back when the 1080p version is up!
in the gun drak instance there is a point where you can see the tail of what appears to be a giant snake many thought at the time if there was a raid there that would possibly be on of the bosses
Oh there was tons of cut content. If you have the ability to browse through the DB files with an editor program you can find a couple dozen cut items for various WOTLK dungeons and raids, such as a minigun with Ulduar flair, an Ulduar crossbow with a Titan face on the front, and various other items from lost vrykul dungeons that had been planned. There was approximately double the number of dungeons planned for WOTLK if you go by the number of models they produced for items.
I flew in a plane in Wintergrasp in beta. Didn't realize it had been cut from the game for literally months after release.
A vrykul raid was also rumoured/planned (can't remember which one it was) but I do believe that was the case, considering all the naxx 25 items using vrykul skins.
God, Wotlk sounds like it could have been much more fun that it is. I also thought that the Vyrkuls had potential to have a great raid.
RIP Anub'arak, one of the coolest voices from all Warcraft games which we only got to experience in Frozen Throne.
At the blizz con where they annouced WotLK they did talk about an Utgarde Keep raid, so you are right on that account
Really looking forward to your video today! :D
@bellularGaming i've been really enjoying you videos thank you!
Very good video m8. This is top tier quality!
Interesting. Would have liked to see some of this in the game.
Wrath still remains my favorite expansion.
WoW didn't know about their plans to make a whole questing zone about the Nerubians.
A shame they didn't as it would have been a great addition to the story line.
I used to love those 2 dungeons in WotlK as they were actually quite challenging and not your standard walk through pull every mob dungeon.
Thanks for sharing man,great video!
Speculative cut content also includes the azure, emerald, and bronze sanctums beneath wyrmrest temple in dragonblight.
I think Gun'drak was definitely meant to lead onto something bigger, at one part of the dungeon you go over a stone archway and if you look beneath it there's a massive serpentine tail, like something of a giant wind serpent looking tail.
I'm surprised there's no mention of the Path of the Titans system which eventually turned into the glyph system.
and the removed...and then returned as whatever the fuck that new Netherlight-like thing for BfA is.
Another great video!!
Very interesting what blizzard decided to scrap and what actually stayed
Wasn't there two dungeons in Gun'Drak? Forgot the names but one was near the Grizzly Hills entrance and the other was in the North Eastern corner of the zone.
Great video, learned some interesting stuff!
I think you forgot to mention Fjord Giants. I remember they mentioned a type of giant called the Fjord Giants. Those were giants that lived in the waters of the howling fjords. They would have capsized ships as hats and you would see only their heads/hats above water. I thought those would have been cool mobs to fight, or quest along. Northrend has a wide array of giants but I guess they decided to cut Fjord giants.
9:10 I don't remember a Tauren on my WotLK box...
Should have mentioned the giant snake body you see within gun'drak, it was rumored that it was planned to be a boss in the raid.
@BellularGaming just curious but how do you make WoW look so good?! Any chance you could make a video of your rig plus what settings you run? I can't seem to replicate making my game look near as polished as yours does in every video.
Would love to see content cut from Cata. If I remember correctly, Eye of Azshara or some other Naga battleground or something was supposed to come out in Cata, but was cut. I remember seeing in on some concept are or something that they posted forever ago,
Per the Stormrage novel, Crystalsong is supposed to also have one of the portals to the emerald dream
I loved Zul Gurub. I loved Zul Aman. I was so excited to see another Troll Raid, but what we got was this Argent Dawn Turnier :(
Didn't the developers say a thing about a cut troll raid. When Jessie Cox asked them about the serpent tail, that is in the troll dungeon.
There were a handful of kill quests in Crystal Song Forest; but I'm not surprised that you missed them. Given the quality of your (rushed) content. Honestly you are a perfect fit for Icy Veins.
The crystalsong trees are the brightest things in the universe!!
I would love to see the old zones get special event raids opened up in some of the structures. Would make the old zones still feel alive and we could see warcraft lore happening in real time.
If they were clever they would have saved Azol-nerub as a quest zone for dailies to fight our to a raid for anubarak. it uncovered a passage to the lich king's fortress at Ice crown. Similar to the path Anub and Arthas took to beat illidan there.
All of Wrath could have been set up alittle different. For a horde of undead that are almost limitless. We fought our way to ice crown pretty easily and didn't feel much like it super hard. Yes we had help of the aspects and All of azeroth but still. Should have felt tougher
interesting video! loved wotlk, thanks for this upload bellulargaming :D
I read a rumor after wrath was out that sunwell was originally going to be in wrath but because they ended up feeling they had released black temple too soon they moved sunwell to tbc.
I was in WOLK closed beta.. We had flying combat in wintergrasp for a while.. It sucked trying to use its cannon was murder...
oh god that dalaran lag..... memories!
I would have loved if they did more with Crystal Forest
With Wrath of the Lich King Classic already done and finished it's sadly through we didn't get to see the great flying combat along with crystalsong forest quests, azjol'nerub zone, Frost Troll Raid, and Dance Studio. I probably take it that Classic Cataclysm might follow the same thing of same content but no scrapped added in features or content for Cataclysm.
Don't forget about that big giant snake tail in the dungeon!
I don't think it's connected to any cut content. It's just a snake tail, that's it. No backstory or anything behind it.
Fun fact; a lot of scourge architecture was taken from down there to build their stuff up top
Okay at 10:11 the little backpack on the side of the motorcycle looks exactly like Pepe! Anyone else notice this?
Trial of Crusade was the raid where we faced Anub'Arak not Trial of Champion that one was dungenon.
Thanks for picking up where Hayven left off
There was planned raid content for Utgarde. Utgarde Catacombs was supposed to be a raid there.
Great presentation, I've seen some of these bits covered on other channels but you provide great analysis alongside the information itself. Thanks for another great look at World of Warcraft!
i hope we re-explore azjul-nerub, such a big, expansive place that could be used for so much unique lore or an entire zone, but it's just a dungeon
I remember playing the Wrath Beta back in the day. Air Combat was implemented thousand winter. But the server had lags and crashes everytime when ppl used the flying maschines.
Blizzard removed the flaying maschines after a while in Beta and never came back. So i guess the real reason is that they didn't manage to fix lags and crashes.
Ajul nerub and the crystal song forest, wish that they would have kept those 2 things.
8:17 Who knows whats going on with the trolls there LMAO!!
i agree with your guess at the end, my guess is, based on the file names, they wanted to have a troll raid, but couldn't get it done, and it was easier to port nax over. and i know from my programming classes that renaming things, particularly referring to files, and keeping everything functional can be a MASSIVE headache. so it was probably easier to just have the loot table for a nax boss point to a gundrak item instead of rename everything, even in a small, 10000> line program, that saves a lot of time. and i dont even want to try to guess how many lines of code exist for even just one raid of WoW, let alone the game as a whole
MOON GUARD SUFFERED FROM LACK OF DANCE STUDIO
I like your work Bellular keep it up man. Good memories.
There is a giant snake's tail in the Gun'Drak dungeon which would have been a boss in the raid.
Are you gonna do a BC cut content video?
I honestly tried looking up cut content of BC...but the only thing I really found was someone saying that Metzen stated that there would be portals to other worlds on Outland. We kinda can see this in the game especially in Zangarmarsh, where you can find a portal on the edge of the zone. I believe that these portals would have probably lead to the Ethereal homeworld maybe.
However, considering the fact that Hellfire Peninsula was originally planned to be part of classic WoW, I could see that there actually isn't much cut content for this particular expansion. They worked on Burning Crusade from the earliest days on so they had plenty of time. Hell, Black Morass and the Caverns of Time are part of WoW since alpha/beta.
What about Mal'ganis? i read somewhere that he was going to be an important part in ICC becasuse some scarlet crusaders things but it was cut ... do you know something about it?
How did you not mention the Giant snake for the Gun'Drak portion of the video?!?!
Lol garrisons were laggy from start till end of Xpac I had no issues in Wrath Dala
Once you talked about the speculation of the files I started thinking about a WoW version of the X Files.
there are a ton of troll themed weapons you can see in the wow data mining from wrath we never got to get so those also were probably left overs of the scrapped troll raid since they all look like nice raid weapons.
No mention of Balargarde Fortress?
12:50
What the hell is a constellar doing in Nagrand?
360P SQUAD WHERE ARE YOU???????????
madafaka boss pfft PEASANT! Im rocking these mfers on mein 720p 14inch Monitor. Get rekt son!
Issack Darur when the video came out it was avalabile only in 360 so eat batshit -_-
madafaka boss When people on the internet can't read sarcasm. Who tf brags about 720p monitors? Fucking daft bitch you are
I thought the dance studio and dance battles were an April fools joke.
we wish you a merry christmas
They def cut a troll raid from WotLK. I mean both vanilla and tbc had one then we had that enormous troll zone. All the puzzle pieces were in place, As good as wrath was it def seemed as if they were rushing things especially with that trial of the crusader raid. IMO they shouldn't of even had that, they shoulda did a troll raid and then moved Anub to ICC if they were on borrowed time.
Wasn't the patch of titans supposed to come in LK?
Interesting about the gear from Naxx... I'm a bit saddened thinking that we might have missed out on an alternative raid tier with new mechanics. I'm also a bit saddened that vanilla Naxx was removed in general. I know it's speculation but the fact that they reference other places seems like a pretty strong indicator that they, at one point. were going to be dropped from raids in those respective areas.
remember path of the titans? remember how DK was gonna have a real long hard quest line to unlock?
Did they not cut anything in BC or something cuz i cant find that video anywhere
I was still pretty green when LK came out, but I did feel like Crystal Song Forest just didn't feel like it should have been there with the lack of quests, there was no story or any other info about it aside from a few bread crumb quests.
I agree with the flying PVP battles, WoW just isn't designed for such gameplay. Look at some of the Legion (Kirin Tor) world quests that use strange platformer style mechanics and how they can glitch easily or not even register (I'm looking specifically at you, barrel brew quest with your stupid horses that register hits when nothing is there).
While not the biggest news on the list, I remember the giant snake tail in Gundrak dungeon was rumored to be a boss in the Gundrak raid that never came to be. However, I believe it was Haven that did one of his (in)famous behind the scenes vids to show there is truly nothing there and I think he showed a vid of a blizz Q&A where someone asked about it and they denied that it was for a raid. Gotta love rumors and speculation :D
Wrath was so much fucking fun dude I cant believe it's been so long
subbed and liked my fellow Irishman! Very interesting video, great presentation and voice over.
10:28 I miss the dance studio idea. I guess I am in the minority here though... :/
I really agree on the point of Nayirubians!
Oh. I'm somewhat early here. Greets! Sorry to point it out but uh... Neh-rubians.
Nayrubians :D
honestly, vehicles would have been more appreciated if there was something more about progressing it and having something we could do to make it better beyond later making vehicles (sometimes) scale based off our gear.
