    Hello everyone and welcome to the first installment of a new series of videos I hope I can entertain you guys with between my machinima uploads. In these videos, "The What If Series," we will be tackling the difficult questions of Azeroth and playing out new scenarios that may have occurred if circumstances may have turned out differently in lore. This first episode focuses on Arthas, the Lich King, and we ask the question: What if he had won? What if the Lich King had defeated us in the events of Wrath of the Lich King?
    Keep in mind that all the information in this video are my own ideas. If you'd like to share your own in the comment section below, feel free! :)

      no... there would be Panda Death Knights. Pandas have been in the game since Warcraft 3, just never touched by the scurge and all that. So if the other forces of the world were wiped out, they would eventually be attacked and the strong turned into Death Knights like the other races werel

      No they werent, WC3 easter eggs and most bonus missions arent/werent canon in real Warcraft lore (e.g. maiev doesnt have Twilight Hammer/Shadow Council powers she gathered across the Tomb) and the whole bonus/Orgrimmar campaign is book bonus based instead of WC2-WC3 which were the only cases of pandas appearing (joke and brick joke continuation respective in spinoff material).

    As I state in the last moments of this video: I know that I didn't get to mention a TON of stuff like Deathwing returning, specific major heroes and what they would do/how they would die, etc. I didn't want the video to be too long, after all. But here's my question for you guys: Would you like videos like these to be longer? maybe 20-25 mins rather than my current 15 goal? I'm always open to feedback from you all. Honestly, if you are bringing up a long and grueling reconquest campaign in Northrend then yes, Cataclysm's events should come up, as Cata happened at most 1-2 years after WotlK's end; including the Lich King's reactions to a new threat to the entirety of Azeroth popping up. Multiple episodes are fine, but the lack of timeframe in the general WoW timeline kind of breaks the AU buildup if LK's victory at ICC is meant to be the only difference.

    • @i.m.3940
      @i.m.3940 Před 8 lety +5

      Arthas would probably fuck Deathwing and the Legion in the butt if he had all of our heroes turned into undead. But yeah , 20 minutes will be okay. Its interesting to see what you think because those "What if" series are cool.

    To anyone posting comments like "Is this based off of Hellscream's idea?" First of all, it's not my idea. Both Nixx and I were inspired into uploading these types of videos from watching a couple of Star Wars youtubers who started uploading series like these. It takes a good time to make vids like these folks. Days of research, another couple of days of writing the script then recording audio and then like another week to edit and get everything ready for publishing. Nobody copied the other; it's just crazy witchcraft that we both uploaded a video like this in the same week. But having that said, looking forward to more of these videos! They're a pain in the ass to research but they're fun to make in the end!

      you should team up with nixx and lets say nobbel(the lorewalker ;) ) to create one big "if" machinima, maybe take some other machinima creators, break it into parts so everyone of them can upload something to their channel linking to another channel with another part (so everyone could get the value of their subscriptions and advertisement money) let it take a couple of months or even a year, this still would be epic. Maybe what if Sylvanass would want to take Lich King's place, or something. Like for example, Wrathion would convince her that she needs to take over LK's forces to protect Azeroth from legion.

      Actually they tried and failed with garrisons.
      I expected Garrisons to be an rts "clash of clans"-like idea where you and your friends battled together or against by building and training units.
      I did not expect it to be an afk quest timer. I thought those quests were for learning new units via wc3 or boosting them in upgrades like in wc2.
      I doubt they'd do it now, due to a failure which also was supposed to be a revival of player housing.
      Still, would be nice if the made a minigame for it. Would add hope for them and us.

  • @OrkarIsberEstar
    @OrkarIsberEstar Před 6 měsíci +3

    I diagree on the final conlcusion. The scourge is the perfect weapon to battle the burning legion.
    Its biggest strength is that demons dont die when destroyed they just go back to argus and reincarnate. The scourge can not only truly kill a demon by absorbing or shackling its soul once the body is destroyed, but by turning the very body into scourge, pitting the legions armies against itself, so while the legions ranks deplete, the scourge grows.
    Furter one if the biggest weapons the legion has is that its soldiers deem themselves immortal, once they know they can die they are a lot less...eager to fight, also manipulation tactics and fear dont work against the undead. You also forget about saronite armor - the legions best can wear it, making them IMMUNE to magic, mind control and highly resistant to physical damage.
    Nerzuhl was sure the scourge can take on the Burning Legion and it was establised in WC3 that indeed, the scourge could become powerfull enough to stop the legion and possily the old gods given, again, the old gods strongest tool is manpulation, fear and madness to which the scourge is immune. And good luck leeching life and light out of undead as well

    Hmmm I kinda disagree with the idea that Arthas would lose from the Burning Legion. The player aka "Legendary defenders of Azeroth" has a very VERY specific plot point in the story of Azeroth. He is unbeatable. He is indominable. He is like the Superman of WoW. Jaina, Arthas, Tirion, Thrall... all are but peasants infront of the Player. When you consider the player, you consider him like a character with the highest PVP and PVE power and achievements. A Supreme gladiator with unrivaled 1v1 skills, an unmatched strategist and general with the rank of High Warlord only surpassed by the warchief himself, a defender and killer of Dragon Aspects, Old Gods, Demi Gods, Elemental Lords, Titan defenders and even Titans (Ra'den). It does not matter which side the Player picks. That side will ALWAYS win. The player started as a mere adventurer, someone who picked up his staff or sword for the heck of it and went out in the world. By trials and an insane amount of quests he became the absolute best for what he is. With unrivaled knowledge, experience and power. Travelling multiple worlds and continents. Faceing perils that even the leaders of factions would shiver against. The Lich King was the only smart person in the entire lore to figure this "Secret weapon" out. He knew that if he wanted to succeed against the Burning Legion and Azeroth he wanted those 20-40 super soldiers. With them on his side, he wouldn't lose. No matter what you throw at him. He knew that momentarally he was strong enough to kill them in a single strike but... eventually they would outclass him. That's why he intentionally let the Alliance and Horde get to icecrown. He could have beaten them any time he wanted, but that was not the point. The "player" was always the key. The player is currently strong enough to even destroy Sargeras and moving forward even the Void Lords which are beings higher in the power ranks than the Titans and Old Gods.

      They could still do that - in any timeline which the Lich King won he would eventually consume the Bronze Dragon flight and begin to leverage their power to transcend timelines and universes the same way that the Legion via Sargeras does such. After all, the Bronze Dragon flight is destined to become tainted by the Old Gods inevitably regardless according to Nozdormu himself so long as he falls into madness at the thought of his own mortality.
      Frankly, the best way to usurp that from happening is to curse him with undeath and put him under the Lich King [whichever version for that matter] since it will stop time from being ripped apart. A being of pure death, as the LK is, wouldn't want the inevitable march of time being disrupted so would, regardless of other desires, keep the time stream at least somewhat cogent.

      the old gods were mainly a issue because of the planet was filled with mortals. those under the lich king's control were all but immune to the effects of old god whispers, the nightmare, and just about everything else. so the main power of the old gods would be nothing against the scourge. deathwing would fall against the other four aspects after being reanimated and the power of the scourge. would be one hell of a fight though.

    I LOVE how you think! I play a LOT of MMOs and RPGs and of the ones I've played, not a single one ever had us beaten in the end; the players, the adventurers just win. Probably why I like Day Z lol. We always win somehow, eh? It's getting old. I welcome losing and yes it would TOTALLY make me climb the fucking walls for the next expansion even at least to see what happens next! Cliffhangers are a good thing now in MMOs, if they dare to try. If you win at the end of every expansion over and over, why would you want to keep buying expansions? You can just search CZcams for the endings now. Blizzard has nothing to lose really if they go that route. They're pretty well established with WoW and their other games.
    You have a very good idea there in having us lose, even if it's just once. No MMO I know of has ever done it before, and I want that. I know I'd be pissed as hell in an all losing ending, but I'd also have fun getting my ass totally beat for once. I play the games I play long term because of the immersion genius of a well written story, and I throw money at it because I have somewhat of an emotional investment in it. Losing would DEFINITELY immerse me even more. omg! lol and spend more money on it! I'd be screaming like the Markiplier's songify at the end of that "Space is so Cool" video with nothing but F bombs in pure nerd rage. I'm talking nerd rage to the extreme! Despite that, I would be committed to buying the next xpac, pawn all my shit if I had to just to see what happens next.
    Losing the final battle just makes it all more real because irl, we do lose and some of us lose everything. Real heroes mostly do lose everything. There is no glory in being a hero, but there is in redemption. I can speak to that as a soldier myself irl and as a survivor of hurricane Irene, Superstorm Sandy and 911 back when I lived in NJ and worked in Lower Manhattan in 2001. I was livid with the company I worked with back then because they decided to bury how many of our security personnel died in those attacks saving us and later got myself fired because of how outspoken I was about it. Bullshit. For me, having this chance at losing appeals to me because in a twisted way it brings me peace. Probably because it's just a game, but still in games I feel like I have control unlike all those past life events. I have since moved from NJ to NC and today to Texas to find my ground and it's holding. In my free time games have helped me blow off steam to where I was able to rebuild my life. My life had been destroyed so many times. I can't thank gaming enough for helping me keep my sanity.

    Arthas would likely use the Book of Medivh and the knowledge of those he converted to completely lock down any major crack that the Legion could enter from. The Tomb of Sargeras would certainly be heavily attended.
    With the entire world a singular force of Undead, it would be very difficult for a character like Gul'dan (powerful enough to be instrumental in ushering the Legion, and sneaky enough to evade an entire world looking for someone like them) to open a gateway for the Legion.
    Azeroth would effectively be in hyper lock-down while Arthas likely researched and prepared his forces for defensive measures and/or a counter-attack against the impending Legion.

    • @Mcofell1
      @Mcofell1 Před 8 lety +5

      Considering he would have all the resources of the world at his disposal, I am sure the Lich King would be able to determine likely entry points/weaknesses.
      The Legion's agents are exceptional in the arts of stealth and subterfuge, but how precisely does the Legion seed an agent in a world where everyone is already controlled and/or mindless and cannot/does not use Fel magic?
      Not to mention the necessary power to bring the Legion into the world, especially without mortal assistance from Azeroth's side, would be massive, meaning as soon as it began the Scourge would likely be aware and mobilized to close it off.
      I'm not saying the Lich King would overcome the Legion, but the Legion would have a much harder time ever accessing Azeroth under complete Scourge rule than under free rule.

    The thing is, Nixx, a thing you don't account for is the fact that... before reaching the Lich King, the Heroes basically went and destroyed the most important necropolis -- Naxxramas can be counted as no longer functional after the heroes went in and then got out. They also destroyed some very important things in Ice Crown ; the leader of the cult of the damned, the door keeper of Ice Crown, They killed Sindragosa, killed sister Svalna, and they went in and we can assume they absolutely trashed Putricide's laboratory, as well as kill every non-argent crusade soldier in the citadel.
    Yes, in return the Lich King gets Tyrion and the twenty five heroes (or was it fourty back then? I didn't re watch the video and I can't remember for the life of me), but the Lich king essentially lost a lot ; You can say he can always raise them back, but if we're doing this IC, I'm rather sure the Heroes burned the remains, or just mashed them until it would be physically impossible to animate it into anything coherent. Sindragosa's bones were probably shattered, dusted, turned into glue and scattered around the citadel in particles so thin they wouldn't be found even if they weren't blown away by the wind.
    And that's not counting the other player characters ''heroes'', outside. Not numbering them by the million, of course, but at least making them a meaningful impact. Once the first heroes, who are supposedly fatigued from all the fighting before the Lich King's fight, fall, you better believe the Argent Crusade would have had another 40man party waiting to go in, and then another, and then another. Of course, the Lich King can raise the first 40man group and have these overgeared sons of bitches fight some less overgeared sons of bitches, getting a stronger army every time, but what would happen is that overtime HE would get worn down, despite his army growing. And from there...
    Actually, screw that. Just grab a bunch of ships and destroy the throne zone with them. Sindragosa's dead, so most dragons are gonna be gone as well anyway.
    TLDR: Not that simple

    I have an idea for an alternative story! According to the writings of christie golden, the tauren participated in two dreams of arthas, perceiving that great power was in place in those precise circumstances. The first dream was during the previous night the conquest of the frostmourne, in which he saw his horse pierced with a runic sword and he, instead of blowing his last breath, came back to life. The second dream was when he was reuniting with the king of the litches after putting on his armor, in which he fought a sort of inner battle with two other entities: ner'zhul and the pure and good part of himself. Here ... what would have happened if in the last dream the Taurens, as well as simply participating in the dream, had intervened so that winning the internal battle would be the good part of arthas? That is, having an Arthas king of litches under the command of the scourge, free from corruption and control of the legion?

    Just wanted to point some things you forgot about the Lich King:
    - He was weakened at the fight in the Frozen Throne because Tirion and Darion destroyed Arthas's heart, and he still managed to kill us at the end. Maybe with time, and a lot of stolen souls, this weakened state would be vanished.
    - He had used all his armies just to test if we were actually the strongest champions of azeroth and THEN he would raise us over, that was his master plan.
    - Putricide's plague was capable of destroying all life on Azeroth, much like the one Sylvanas used minus the destruction of undead. So the Lich King could've used his powers to simply raise Putricide back and make him continue his work.
    - It is confirmed by the Death Knight's order hall campaign that Demons CAN be raised and used to make abominations.
    - The Lich King would've foresaw the Legion's return and would've prepared for the incoming invasion.

      I bet they would to get rid of Deathwing since he wants to blow up Azeroth. xD

      More epic than being the last standing planet in a battle against an infinite enemy? If you say so.

      there is no fun in a pointless battle that will surely end in a defeat against the legion....

      +Jody Boles But until the arrival of the Legion it would be an epic battle for survival as death itself comes to claim the land

    Deathwing was literally waiting until there was nothing on Azeroth that could stop him before emerging. He wanted to ensure that when he did return it was in a climate that was most favorable to his victory. Azeroth's defenders weakened, the elemental lords dead or allied with him, and the Lich King destroyed. So, with the Scourge dominating Azeroth and the Legion following up, it's possible Deathwing would never actually make an attempt to attack.
