  • Paul Pierce, Michelle Beadle, Jalen Rose and Chauncey Billups of NBA Countdown react to LeBron James calling himself the GOAT after his Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Golden State Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals. They discuss whether LeBron or Michael Jordan is indeed the greatest, and Billups says Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers was the most "skilled" he's ever seen.

@Vern Pascal I think LeBron plays the game "the right way" more, he's a more willing passer and because of his size, he can have a more consistent impact rebounding. But skill-wise?? Nah. LeBron is like a construction worker, Kobe is like a painter. Kobe has a much better handle (for sure), better post up game (which he shouldn't) better footwork, more fluid jumper, better perimeter defender, everything. Let's remember Kobe came in trying to guard MJ, had to guard Iverson, Reggie Miller, Vince Carter, T-Mac, KD, Westbrook, Kyrie, LeBron, pretty much every great perimeter player since he came in the league. Just look at the last game they played against each other, LBJ couldn't guard him and this was walking corpse Kobe, not the mid-00s assassin. Kobe didn't have free rein of his own team from his rookie season like LBJ, and he's always had a system whereas LBJ IS the system, stat wise he'll always lose that, but skills? C'mon bruh...

Kobe was literally at another level mentaly! After winning 3 rings with Shaq, he literally never played with another all star until Gasol!! That's 2002 - 2008 !!! 6 years Kobe was playing with nobodys (starting lineup: smush parker, kawmi brown, radmanovic, mihm etc) If you never heard of these guys, you are fine, cause these guys never played at an NBA level after leaving the Lakers! Most of them even failed to play basketball in Europe!!! So, to sum up. If in those 6 years, Kobe had the help Lebron James had from both his team and the entire eastern conference (massive trades in the middle of the year, all stars jumping in to make super teams with him, management bending the knee etc.), he would have had a much better career than both MJ and Lebron FOR SURE!!!

I'm not telling that lebron was not a good defender in 2011 and 2014 ,he was an overrated defender , he got exposed by many young players in these two seasons. In 2011 Kobe did not deserve defensive 1st team but deserved 2nd defensive team because may great shooters exposed him. Coaches and gms vote for defensive team not media.
