I never thought I’d be interested in a Corolla. Lol.
J.Money that’s what they want you to feel
IKR they look sooooooo good too, compared to the washing machines that they used to sell couple of years back this is on another league. Better looking than a Golf.
Once these start popping up used I’m definitely interested, I wish the GT86 platform didn’t use the FA20. I’d rather daily drive a four door hatchback even though it’s FWD than a RWD coupe with an inefficient boxer.
The fa20 makes 205hp how is it inefficient
Whyunounderstand boxer motors aren’t the better option in terms of a daily driver, they’re inefficient as worse gas mileage than an in-line four and they’re not as reliable over a long term period.
Wow now I want a Corolla
Big thanks to the @TheStraightPipes for shooting some epic track footage for us! You guys ROCK!
Speed Academy did you sell the oem wheels?
Sick build boys!
Love both your channels!
sounds like a leak on who's gonna be in the next video! Can't wait. Love the energy of those guys too!
It's fun to see CZcams car channels working together
TRD supercharger, LSD where are you?
Yes!
If TRD builds an SC that can provide 30+ horsepower, someone out there will build a rowdy ass Corolla.
I’m so happy to see the Corolla getting the attention it deserves, not just from us, but from Toyota as well.
I’m a huge Corolla fan, have been for years.
Particularly from ‘84-‘92.
mrphiscal I’d love to see that!
they're still recovering from wasting all that time and money on Scion (the tC1 had a supercharger for like 1 year I think haha)
That should be a good street car build, right now it is a daily build. I would like to see that in the near future though!
I’ve got a nice Toyota SC14 which with the right pulleys could add up to 8lb of boost. Im located in Montreal if you are interested.
I like to fact you are taking actual affordable cars and doing simple mods and showing what you can do with it at the track. More cars like this please.
Damn that is a good looking Corolla. Wheels are on point and stance is perfect.
if te37 doesnt look good on your car, your car doesnt look good.
I think he's trying to say, that the te37s make everything look good
@@javierjavieracosta Yes, I noticed after re-reading. That's my mistake.
I don’t know. The new generation of TE37 look weird compared to original TE37 perfection.
This is one of the best comments I've read online. Good point and I agree!
bbsimeon@gmail.com. morning sir do you where I can a LSD, and a big brake kit or some one who can make a big brake kit for my car. Thank you. @@tomjones5860
Love this subtle street oriented build. Thanks for sharing. The car looks spectacular too, what a difference a set of wheels and coil-overs make. And a nice exhaust note to finish it all off.
I am desperately trying to find a way to incorporate a Corolla in my life, who would have thought.
I've been eyeing this car for a while and this series is really starting to tip the scales.
Good results so far. Now put a limited slip in the front end and a TRD supercharger on it.😬👌🏽
Front mid and rear sway bars!
Where
Put some H&R or Eibach anti-roll bars on it and it will be cured of body roll without removing the comfort. Nice video, and good result. This Corolla is amazing. Great color combination as well with the blue of the car with those gold rims..
4 seconds for some basic mods is impressive
Thanks for doing this build, hopefully stuff like this helps to show the American market that huge SUVs and giant barges of saloon cars are stupid
YES! All the OEMs are going to SUVs and CUVs, its awful watching the market get reduced to that.
How would this do that?
I hear ya, man.
I’ve been kinda preachy about it the past few years, but no one else in family really care for cars, except my grandfather, who I see maybe twice a year.
It bugs the hell outta me that so many people in the US drive trucks and SUVs for no apparent reason.
Mr. Mike Suburbanite dailies an F-150, while working a cozy office job? Why?
For the $55K you spend on a truck, you could get a killer car. There’s so many good options out there in that range.
I get that some of it stems from people that like trucks, but my issue is that most of it stems from ignorance regarding the market.
I think as Americans we generally think of bigger vehicles as being safer (which can be true, actually) and more luxurious, which isn’t true. Not for what you pay for, not in most cases.
@@Loudest_Cricket_ everyone forgetting that wagons usually have more usable room, oh and what they actually pay for a new car after they financed it for 7 years lmao...fuckin rip off new cars these days
@@markf5314 Depends where you live I guess. Where I live, my state is suv and truck country. So lots of trucks. But most don’t just drive it around cause it’s a trend. Ford isn’t even making cars anymore. Just Broncos, super duty’s and suvs. The racing hobby isn’t dying off either, it’s dumb assholes ruining it for everyone and other states following California law on everything. I drive a 96 12 valve Cummins diesel and also got a 2020 corolla. My corolla I drive more, but my diesel is for hauling.
my first car was a 1980's corolla... and now with this new hatchback.. im in love
Ever since i saw the Papadakis corolla I was waiting for you to do a corolla build... FINALLY!!!
I never noticed these Corollas on the road until this color came out. Such a good looking car, the front looks aggressive for a hatchback and the proportions are good too. I'd proudly drive one of those everyday.
I love the look of these would make a great daily
This Corolla looks amazing really wish they offered a turbo version
In Europe there is turbo.... 1,2t 0-100 ~9, 2s. It should be at least 1,6t!
całkiem mocny gość I mean a hot hatch version to rival cars like the S3 or Golf R
@@shaeerhassan8588 just use lexus 2,0t engine, TRD suspension, recaro seats or Gt86 seats and its done.
Hopefully we get the GR with the 260hp turbo 3 banger. More likely than the GR yaris since the Yaris has some stark variations across the world's market.
@@LostParadise_ nah in my opinion it should come with an inline 4
This is one of the best car channels, hand down. Great filming and editing, high integrity content, quality parts, and applicable/practical projects. Keep it up!
All of a sudden everyone likes the Corolla Hatchback
Thats the setup i need for my mazdaspeed 3, awesome build like always!
These toyotas are sick
I didn't like the Corolla and didn't like the wheels, but when you put them on the car in last ep., I started to like both the wheels and the car.
Great job in the mods and the results on the track looks great. I love this gen Corolla. I have been contemplating on getting the 2020 hatchback. Great job and more power to you guys.
I would definitely enjoy your finished version of that Corolla. I really can't believe I just wrote that, but it's true.
This build series is just too awesome!
I’m surprised there wasn’t a beefier sway bar option.
Good job guys. One of my friends loves the Toyota
Total love for this format of videos, that is absolutely great! Mods, building and track revenue to see the improvement!
Looks 11/10 , genuinely impressed how good it looks with a few mods. Suspension I think some sway-bars would help. Under the bonnet, needs forced induction or some kind of tune to get it to about 150KW at the wheels and an LSD. Be a proper warm hatch then.
would also cost 35k with those mods
I’m doing a Turbo Kit on my Corolla Hatch this summer; therefore am VERY interested in an LSD. Would absolutely LOVE to see you guys add an LSD, as I have no clue if anyone will actually make/release one. Any real performance for this car so far has to be custom built. Hopefully that starts changing real soon. We need much more aftermarket support!
Can you give more info on your turbo build or some info on how to get started and where to buy it?
Loving this! So glad you guys decided to do this. Might be the car I get at the end of next year.
toyota: "make the car look faster but go slower"
I saw one on a highway for the first time and asked my wife to google the specs right away, hoping it was a hot hatch from Toyota. Well... Not even warm hatch if you ask me.
@@alexkay7823 toyota just announced a 250hp, Torsen-based AWD Yaris. Let's hope Corolla gets the same treatment as well!
@@arekb5951 can you get 250hp out of a 3 cylinder ?
Sounds cool but this corolla actually got a power buff. Obviously by no means is it fast but it is faster than the previous gen
@@jozhfy1.6L 3 cylinder with 250HP has the same specific power output as 2.1L 4 cylinder with 333HP. Mercedes made a 2.0 inline 4 with 421HP, so 250HP in this Toyota should be easily achievable.
Feels like this new Corolla is a good successor for the old ae82 and 92. The only thing that I don't personally like on the rear is this flat portion on the bumper, though this is surely very convinient everyday. Once the aftermarket gets a lot of parts, those are gonna be cool cars to mess around with
Definitely looking at doing some of these mods to my Blue Flame Corolla!
I don't have TE37SL money, but all in all, that would be a car I'd be happy to own. I'd probably use a set of RPF1s in gold or something similar to keep the budget a little lower maybe with a small 5-10mm spacer to keep that rubbing you mentioned away, and I would modify the induction system a little more while retaining the stock airbox (silicone hose leading to the throttle body to reduce heat soak in the plastic, velocity stack if it fit behind the air filter). Since I'm about details, I'd put a TRD oil cap, shift knob, and a SARD radiator cap for some added bling.
This was a great series. We got to review the Corolla and we’re really impressed with it. Seeing the changes you guys did looked awesome and the lap time was pretty impressive after the upgrades!
The RSR coilovers being streetable is a good thing. I got KW v1 on my car and the front is so stiff. The car has snap understeer at the limit. Which of course kills any envy to push it.
Fantastic detail on a realistic review!
The entire build makes sense and has been great to watch. This little hatch caught my eye from day one and you are giving me a small bit of buyers remorse for picking a Golf instead. Big shout out to Straight Pipes for the footage! Love seeing the quality content creators starting to work together.
I have wanted this car since it debuted. Picked up my sliver se with spoiler and some black niche rims with toyo proxes almost a month ago still rolling paper plates under 2k miles. I'm glad to see guys upgrading this. Giving you a sub keep it up
Watching this build has been awesome.
I really think this is a very balanced car for most people who need a reliable car to go to work in without being overly powerful. Thanks for this series youve inspired me to pick up a corolla hatchback.
You guys did an amazing job! The mods were great all around, that corolla looks amazing!
I think that exhaust note is perfect for me too...Thanks for getting into the details of how the stock exhaust system is setup...I think this is useful for future enthusiasts to use as a reference to plan their projects.
I think this car looks really cool. Toyota should do a proper hot hatch with it - something akin to the Veloster N would get a lot of attention I would think.
Yeah. If they turbocharged the motor with the same turbo they used on the GR Yaris, the Corolla would be a rocketship
Always great content. I've enjoyed the couple of new camera angles you've included.
Great B roll at the track, shows the car nicely through the track. Perfect amount of regular folk mods anyone can do. 😎👍
You guys made a great improvement to a daily driver 👍 for Toyota
*Speed Academy:* these are the improvements we made and here's what we need to do...
*Toyota:*
*Keenan Wayne:* MESSAGE!!!
Keenan Ivory Wayans?
Flat love the Don’t Be A Menace reference. Lol
Great mods! Perfect exhaust. I'm getting it for my daily driver corolla hatchback. Thank you.
Car looks great Dave.
This is awesome, it's cool to see a normal car set up for track.
Track footage on point! We need this more often! Good one guys!
Pretty impressive with the time improvement!! I'm interested to see what you guys do for the last episode!!
Driving a slow car fast is always rewarding. This probably the best looking hatch out there, besides the type r. An that's coming from a honda lover from over 20 years.
Very interesting to take such a basic car and make a big difference in handling with only a few modifications. Sway bars and LSD and a little more power would make a great sleeper.
Good job Pete for building an amazing exhaust!!! I love how this was built.
Those wheels look so damn good
Loving it. Those wheels and drop, and lip kit make it look perfect. I said I wasn't going to touch mine but maybe I will end up with some small mods.
I'm an old man who hated Corollas (cheap looking) but fell in love with a 2020 SE 6spd manual 👍
I've been waiting forever for the next part! Also, what do you guys think about the TRD intake system?
Really cool build for a daily driver👍
more! love it so much maybe do a mercedes a200 hachback next? :)
That would get tens of views.
bandwagon240 yeah
I'm actually contemplating a Carola Hatch and think y'all really helped me decide. That looks pretty dope.
This is great! I've been waiting for more aftermarket and enthusiast builds for this hatch. I had the opportunity to sit in one at a car show and it was really nice. Definitely a possibility for my next vehicle. Have you thought about making your custom exhaust a kit? I think another fun thing would be to figure out how to route the exhaust through the fake holes on the back. Can't wait to see the next episode!
This set up is amazing I have a 2019 corolla hatchback and I would love to mod my similar to this that you have Speed Academy!
Damn, never thought I'd be interested in a Corolla. Love the series!
It looks really good with those wheels ngl
Feels like Toyota has the bones to create a hot hatch from the factory. Great video, nice looking and performing build.
Damn that thing looks good
Nice! Toyota needs to take note of this and the Veloster N/Type R and respond accordingly. I was considering getting a new Corolla last year, but the Veloster won the styling/price/performance awards IMO. Now, if Toyota had a Corolla trim with your performance upgrades, then I may have considered otherwise.
excellent choice of tire! I absolutely love the extreme contact sports!
Nice improvement. A little over 3 sec is great
All the same type of mods i did to my 03 elantra gt. Good job!
Classy upgrades!
Great job. TRD, TOM’S, Gazoo, etc... would be proud. It’s actually a good looking car.
I think you guys did a great job.
such a great looking car on the track!
Great episode. Curious to see if the rumored GR model is gonna be a winner. I for one love the styling of this current model, nice to see its fun to drive!!
I love to see this kind of videos , for the next one you should make a poll to choose the next project car to see in the channel
Great mature exhaust sound 🤘
On track camera looks great!! Overall a really nice street car
Great looking hatch.
Really cool to see local content!
These 2020 Corolla looks fantastic. Toyota should seriously consider putting the V6 Camry engine in this little Corolla. Would definitely boost interest in other future products.
I own one. Can’t complain. Sure it’s not gonna beat any sport car but I am not planning on racing with anyone. I love what they did with body and I love my hatch
Ooooof the car is beautiful Im getting one and hopefully aftermarket parts become more available soon
the app is really useful! Good job
Good build, I wouldn’t do anything different. No point on putting race suspension with those power levels. You guys made a right call.
Can we all support these guys more on Patreon so that they can back off on the number of commercials??? Let's DO IT!!!!!
I LOOOVE IT
Looks pretty cool actually
Speed academy carolla vs MCM yaris hilton??????
Hell yeah with the cam car shots! Would be crazy if u guys could include few shots like that for reviews
Man. TE looks good on everything. But these new Corolla Hatch are clean.
I'm not saying that you guys do this, because I've seen a lot of your videos and I know that you all know how much this can change the dynamics of a car, but chassis braces can make as big of a difference as coil overs. You should look into some. There may be some good braces available that could help with the body roll. I love how you guys show the differences that different modifications can make.
Tastefully done!
Cool little hatch
Great job on the changes. I don't care for the gold wheels I'm more of a black wheel guy or silver Chrome but they hit a homerun with that Toyota Corolla redesign
