Hey! I got the new 2021 model of Randolph Aviator Sunglasses. It is time to compare them with Ray Ban Aviators that I mainly use for flying. The firs look shows that each model has it's own plusses and minuses.
This video was not sponsored by anyone, but I goy the Randolph glasses for free. I just said that I will make a honest review. So I did it. Will continue to fly using new Randolph sunglasses for some time.

How much were your raybans
You can get randolphs with curved temples
Denys: Does “Metal Test”
Family watching from the gate: Hey kids how about we wait for the next flight! 😅👌🏻
🤣🤣🤣👍
I use Ray Bans too and am very happy with them and its quality! I loved the Heavy Metal test LOL... I think the Randolph fits you as well! Not bad at all! Thanx for another great video!
Thanks for sharing capt - stay awesome!
Just subbed today. Good man. I Like this stuff !
Your videos are cool and funny as always, Keep un the great work,
From here on out, I only want to see you review sunglasses. Excellent review, glad you stated your opinion on how you saw it! Laughed at the metal test
The squared Randolph Engineering all day every day. I first started with the Ray Ban Caravan but then discovered American Optical which then led me to Randolph Engineering. I still wear either the 57-20 AO or 58-20 RE polarized. What I did with the bayonet temples is cut and put black rubber on the very end of the tips and they stay on better. I think I got the black rubber pieces from one of those sporterized sunglass straps that you put on each temple so you can hang them on your neck or keep on your head. Anyway, I never used it but instead cut the round rubber tube up and used them on the ends of temples (easiest way to slide them on is use a little hand sanitizer gel and they slide right on in place and then when the sanitizer dries they will not come off). I think the squared aviators look better on your face than the tear drop Ray Ban's. Also, look at the 58mm Randolph Intruder, Corsair or FGN frames. I have those as well and mix it up. Do all of you pilots prefer the non-polarized to view instrumentation? Another thing, I sent my shiny chrome RE 58-20 in to Randolph because one of the nose pad holders broke. Randolph sent me a new pair no charge under their warranty.
It's so nice to see another amazing video from Pilot Blog :)
You look great in both! The Ray Bans you really rock though! 😀
Bro. The Randolph's fit you like a glove.
I think Randolph sunglasses are the best and that is why they supply the U.S.A.F and although not cheap you get what you pay for, very high quality and they are classics . Happy Trails
I agree with you Denys, the Ray Bans suit you better and the other ones are a little bit small. I also love aviator sunglasses and I even bought my current ones on a plane - in the Wizz Air onboard shop!
They fit perfectly❣️ You look always so nice❣️❣️
It's just Fantastic Bro.. ❤❤❤❤❤❤👍👍👍
good review!
Hi Denys! I love your Ray Ban.....and I love my own Ray Ban too) Thx......Keep connecting Denys;)) X Betsy.....
I have always liked the Rayban sunglasses, although there have been durability problems in the past, and a big problem with Fakes so best to find a reliable vendor with good feedback especially buying online.
They Randolphs look great, but I think you should try the Randolph Archer model in 63mm. They will address a lot of your concerns. They were designed specifically with wider faces in mind (the struggle is real I know). Also, they have the traditional temple/ear pieces that are curved down at the end (like the Ray Bans). Lastly, you can get them with a gradient gray lens.
Of course, if the Ray Ban teardrop style aviator is specifically what you are after there is the Randolph Concorde…
Great to see the “polarisation test” every pilot should try this (on ground)
I did the test with different instrument, and i can tell you that the result depend on the type of polarization of you lens and the technology of the screen, my old Oakley polarized sunglasses work perfectly with Garmin G1000, but on Airbus screen, tilting your head by 45deg, and… black-out
Some other instrument like radio can became very…rainbow, sometime you can also have some “interesting” stuff with the windows, depending on the heating technology
Polarized or non-polarized…. You can make a 1h video about the “right polarization” …and another 1h about the …left polarization
Did you test the polarization on the flight computer ? Is the result same as for the “main screens” ?
I have the Randolph P3 and absolutely love the style, quality, and light weight. BTW, your Rayban's loose temple arm should be an easy fix with a counter-clockwise turn of a screwdriver.
Randolph does make sunglasses w the ear pieces like the Ran ban. Have a pair of the Randolph aviators and love how they fit, especially w the headset on- more comfortable. Also use them for driving.
I have been wearing RB my whole life. Then I discovered RE. Now all my RB's feel cheap! Many RB's are now produced outside of Italy to lower production cost, which causes quality consistency issues (along with the fakes). I think your RE Aviators look fantastic....it's the square frame that throws people off. Variety is the spice of life and seeing the teardrop frames gets old after a while.
I just ordered aviators from ray ban! They haven’t come yet but I’m excited
Good decision... keep both. Randolph looks great.
The Randolph's look fine, I guess it's all about personal taste? I'm thinking of trying a pair. I fly Heli and have a helmet with Bose A20 ear cups, I find that my big ears get squished down on skull temples and can cause a headache after a long day. I'm thinking the bayonet temples might solve this problem?
Looks good on you sir
Due to its large gap on the bridge which 20mm..it tends to look out of place in the initial phase..but after a while it will grow on you and you will start to love the look
And yes the square navigator does not provide protection as the teardrop shape like the rayban..but RE does have their own teardrop shape frame..the concordes
Nice vídeo i love
I think the Randolph looks awesome
Hi sir I have one doubt if mach speed is 0.78 & OAT is -28*c @ FL 240, then magnetic course of plane is 260* True wind 280*, mag variation 11*E, magnetic wind 269*, Wind speed 50 kts, Distance of leg 93.3 nm.
So what's the true airspeed, Ground speed, & time of the leg
*How to do with manual calculation without CX-3?
randolphs look great! but if you feel that they are too big they have 3 different sizes too choose from
I suggest that you try Flying Eyes sunglasses. Founded by a pilot and far more comfortable under headsets.
What size Randolph's did you review?
Most practical review I've seen.
I'll stick with my Oakleys. They must stick on my face - not negotiable.
Thank you
Nice one Denys. Have you tried Flying Eyes sunglasses? Designed for headsets etc
Not yet
The Randolph’s look good on you, honestly
Hej. Nice Quick-Review...and to my opinion: the RE glasses do fit your face. Probably not perfect but very good :). BR, Chris
Dear Captain greetings! I tried the RE aviators and was hugely disappointed with them.. the lenses are at an angle that makes them make the wearer look a little bug eyed. I did some more research and finally settled on the RE intruders 58mm with green non polarized lenses. They lenses are just something else! They are the same tint as the 737 sun visors and are great on a bright sunny day. The big disadvantage with RE is that the don't have spring loaded arms... So from transport to terminal to dispatch through security to the plane you can't just casually out them on top of your head and they don't come cheap so if not on the face they are better off being in the case. This becomes rather cumbersome and i just put them on once I am apron side. A great all rounder is the Serengeti medium size aviator with drivers gradient. If i had just one pair to pick it would be this... All the ticks. Spring loaded arms, variable tint to read instruments in lower lighting, drivers gradient is this tech which highlights aviation safety colours( so i pick up PAPI's earlier than my P2) and last but not the least they are photochromatic. One ring to rule them all types.... A must try IMHO. CHEERS and happy landings.
Denys The other ones are what my father wore. You can adjust nose pieces & I think you can adjust temple areas to make them tighter now don't make them too tight you'll get a headache. I use presciption sun glasses cause i need them too see ! 🤗
I think those RE ones fit you perfectly. Check out the 60’s astronauts, they’re supposed to be a little smaller. The straight legs also are for going under a pilot helmet. Different type of jet maybe 😎
Denys I am flying back from Ibiza to Birmingham tomorrow. Your lizard brain video has helped me chill out big time
Wow! Have a great trip ✈️❤️
@@PilotBlogDenys you are the best
Randolph suits you more than Rayban
You can actually tighten the screws a bit to make it less flimsy or take it to a jeweler to fix it for you
They fit you just fine.
Captain the Ray Bans are very flattering to you as you look absolutely sensational in them. However, you may find that you need more than one style of sunglasses in order to have what you will truly need at that moment in time.
The same one that reviews Mriya can also review sunglasses.
This is exactly why I really like your channel! :)
Awesome video.
By the way, did you see Mriya in the Ukranian air show for youe Independence day?
I was on standby that day😞
They both look good BUT what about ao generals?
The Randolph actually fits you very well.
Both look good on you 👍🏻 but I think the Ray Bans look that bit better. 👌🏻🔥😍
The randolphs look better on your face in my opinion. Thanks for the video
Denis! Both of them are fine and good 😁
You might wanna try Flying Eyes. It is specifically designed for pilots and bikers just like you.
I would like a video with a comparison between the Ray-Ban Caravan and the Randolph Aviator
They look good on you, i don't see a problem.
"The Ray Ban fit to every face": that's true! And they have been traditionally the iconic "pilot glasses" for decades. Personnally, as a former H/C pilot I used Ray Bans due to the quality of the lenses at the time ... Moreover, regarding the temples, I could use them under my flight helmet (we have helmets in military helicopters) and my bike helmet as well (like you I had a bike).
Anyway Randolph glasses with Ray Ban temples ... why not if the quality is better? I mean the quality, not the look, but it's just my opinion. All the best
Square aviators probably fit more faces… tear drop Aviators always annoyingly rub my cheeks
@@BC08 not atheistically, which is what we are talking about when we day “fit”. Tear drop is the best design. If it rubs your cheeks, thats a different issue. Adjust it, get a smaller size or lose weight.
Do you think about changing to the bigger aircraft or long haul ? Thanks Capt and stay safe .
It depends on my airline only.
737-800 is very nice aircraft. Maybe not best in every case, but its nice.
Try the RE Concordes!!
I am a Bausch & Lomb Rayban collector and Randolph glasses are superior quality. Luxotica Ray Bans are good but not even in the same ballpark as old school B&L... Randolph are easily the best quality on the Planet, #1 in durability, metal and glass quality ,and fit and finish
Interesting captain.....
I've used both for extended periods. The Randolphs are much more comfortable and fat more durable, a significant step above in quality of construction and materials.
I have 7 pairs of ray bans and only one I don't like. They are some hexagonal or octagonal mirrored with a copper lens. The sun just seems to come in them more but it's the only pair I don't like. I don't have Randolphs but there are some I want.
I just purchased new Randolph sunglasses and AO sunglasses yesterday (10/10/22) and I'll compare which pair fits me as well as their material's quality. Thanks for the video,....very informative. I hope Ukraine is fine and no more attacks from Polar Bear. God bless you and Ukraine.
Did you adjust the nose grips on the RE's? The build and Finish on the RE leave the ban's flailing in their turbulence. Luxotica Ban's have become mass produced china farmed dung and to be avoided.
Please teach us how to drive a plane step by step😍😎
the build quality and lens quality in randolph you will never find in any other sunglasses since most of the brands are now owned by luxotica and they are focused on selling quantity over quality
Great look you
You already smart and Colling glass very very smart
Super
,I would like to buy it,
You just need to have both adjusted and tightened up.
Love From INDIA
They both look good. but the first one look better..
It's looking good for your face😎
You should have got the Randolph Concorde sunglasses
Yes, you are right! I got them now! They are great! Will show them in future videos...
I am from India🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳, I liked your all videos🎥🎥🎥🎥, your videos are amazing👍👍👍👍
Glad you like them!
I use Carrera Glory Non-Polarized. Ray-Ban Aviator doesnt fit on my face actually.
neah. It'k ok. It's very ok. The size seems good!
You look good in both! But you can’t go wrong with rayban! Take care sir
RE is nice but I just can’t tolerate it’s weight
Hello from Brazil, I have both and and RE is better finished and more durable than Ray Ban; You should try the 55mm RE, as the one you're wearing seems not to be well suited (oversized) for your face; my guess is that both the grip of bayonet temples and size will let you more confortable to wear 55mm RE in daily basis, be it in cockpit or not; hope of some value theses few words, best regards Marco Cesar
hi captain ! how are you ? I also like the Randolph but Rayban looks cooler than randolph Captain ! thanks for this review captain ! it was very intresting and different from regular videos . I also have rayban captain .
whats the difference between normal sunglasses and aviators sunglasses captain ? is it only that the normal sunglasses are polarized and aviators sunglasses are not polarized ? BYE ! stay awesome captain !
2:05 Why I hear Sabaton music?
Hey i want that
I have a Polaroid. I think they are better than ray. I also had ray ban sunglasses, a long time ago. I'm more comfortable with this now. And I think they're better.
The metal test.
0:58 هههههه النضاره غلبته 🤣🤣
Randolph Concorde.
Never understood the use of skull temples with headsets. Bayonet all the way. Skull temples dig into the back of your head behind your ears when pressed by the headset.
Cheers
Randolph is good but it's little small.randoplh fits you
first! pls CAN I GET A MEDAL. :)
Sir how to apply for job in any airlines as pilot plz tell me .
Just google for pilot job opportunities. There is no answer for that question. Every airline has a unique procedure.
@@PilotBlogDenys ok sir thanks . 😀
Let you can say how you study cpl say some tips pl
I studied at Government Academy. Every situation is unique.
@@PilotBlogDenys where and cost pl
Hi Denys.
If you want to get a pair of sunglasses that will blow your mind away, get a pair of AMG Black Berlin. A bit pricy at 340 Euros, but it has a 100% protection for UV-A, UV-B & UV-C (UV-400). Non polarized for glass instruments. Filter Category 3. Lenses made by Carl Zeiss Vision, who is also in the process to design optical components for the James Webb Space Telescope, which will replace the Hubble. Make the RayBan owners jealous with a unique AMG pair. I think it'll suit you 100%. I'll facebook inbox you the link.
price is not the same rayban 150e randolph 300e. if you prefer the way aviator fits your face than buy randolph Concorde they are like rayban aviator and you can find with normal temple as well which is called skull temple the straight one like on your randolph aviator is called bayonet
Denys is cool
As always.
I think the Randolph glasses look fine on your face but the Ray-Bans are better. It would have been a better comparison if you had ordered the Randolph Concordes as they are the same tear drop shape with the curved temples. Personally, I own Randolph Sportsman's and find them superior in every way to the Ray-Bans.
I think they look fine, but if you want to send them to me that’s also acceptable 😆
I think the the Randolphs look good on you. But you have to be comfortable in them. Just don't go fishing in the Randolphs! LOL
😂
I have Ray Ban Aviator and RE Concorde (that has the same shape of RB aviator). RE is way superior.
Fortunately, the loose hinges on the Ray-Bans can be fixed with a screwdriver. The aviators in general are simply not going to be as good because they are designed to be just like the ones designed in 1937. Ray-Ban offers other sunglasses that were designed much more recently that use much stronger frames.
