Once I turned 50, I knew that I wanted a timeless style. I switched out my prescription glasses for aviators. It definitely upgraded my look.
I assume you mean prescription aviators? I have aviators, wayfarers, and clubmasters, all made to my prescription.
As a former naval aviator and current corporate pilot, I love my aviators and wear them a majority of the time!

I bought my Ray-Ban aviators (3386/gunmetal/g15 lens) back in 2010 and probably wear every day especially while driving. they go with every outfit and never go out of fashion.

Aviators are timeless classics, but that brown suede jacket is magnificent.
You narration style is excellent... and the choice of the footage makes it even better.
Two additional points I would add. 1) The metal on the aviators give off the appearance of jewelry. 2) Looks grown up. Plastic frame sunglasses remind me of children’s sunglasses.
Antonio, after flight school I went from 20/20 to 20/40 and started getting issued glasses and sunglasses. The DOD uses Randolph frames so over the years as I got new prescriptions I had more frames. I have given many frames away over the years and even after retiring from the military still get new prescriptions put into my Randolphs. The only other frame I use is the RayBan teardrops. Semper Fi Marine.

Everyone from their grandma to parents to kids should have a pair of aviators. they are amazingly stylish and most definitely STYLISH. i find that due to the bigger oversized lens (bug eyed) it is much more flattering and you immediately become a show stopper :)

Have multiple pairs of Randolphs and they've become pretty much all I wear these days. They're of amazing quality.
I'm buying my first pair of original classic aviators tomorrow. Finally joining the cool peoples club.
While in Vietnam, I swapped some 8 track tapes for a pair of navigator style sunglasses with a crew chief from an cav unit. Been wearing that style ever since. If it ain't broke don't fix it.😎
Antonio, great video. Watching this made me realize that while I do have other styles, aviators are the ones that I wear the most.
Also, I have a very similar jacket as the one you're wearing, I've found flipping the collar over takes that little flap outta the way gives a more rugged look, let me know what you think of this.

I bought a pair from LL Bean many years ago and they still look good. I just got another more squared pair recently and I like them both. It's more what metal do I want to wear that day.

After watching the show Mad Men, I decided to rock the brand Randolph Engineering aviators. They were not cheap, but damn are they good! I've had them for 4 years now and they're just now showing some age.

I use sun cloud brand sunglasses because they fit the shape of my face better than wayfarers or other styles
I get my aviators at Ross and Burlington. You can get lucky and find a really stylish look for a bargain price. Pay less then $10 and each pair has lasted for about 3 to 4 years before something breaks

I have had mine for years and I love them.
Alot of the sunglasses you see in movies is American Optical sunglasses, for example Robert De Niro in Taxi Driver, John F Kennedy. Douglas McArthur, George Clooney, Tom Cruise in Top Gun and most recently Ryan Gosling in Fall Guy

In the 70s, I wore a pair of Ray Ban frames with my prescription lenses. In the 80s, I became a pilot and I wore Randolphs with prescription and prescription sunglass lenses. Aviators are high;y functional and they look great. (Why did you show a picture of Pete Conrad and Gordon Cooper when you were talking about Chuck Yeager?)
Bausch and Lomb are my go to. The classic teardrop shape with original green lens. The classics are the best👍🏻

I have the classic gold frame G-15 lens very enjoyable to wear. Though I’m more of a sporty guy and grab my Oakley Romeo 1’s each and every time.

Aviator shape reminds me of the eyes sockets human skull has. But they fit the most face shapes, only sunglasses that look good on me. And since it was used by war heroes and pilots originally, people see it as "authentic" gear to protect eyes. Not some vanity item

I've been wearing Aviators my whole life. I'm Italian and have a bigger nose and a high bridge. Aviators are the only style that consistently fit right. I own pairs by Ray-Ban, Maui Jim, Oakley, and Revo.

Randolph are the best imo. They blow RB out of the water
From personal experience. Look for an Aviator pair that has easily replaceable nose pads, and temple tips.
The Ray Ban Aviators have the nose pads attached with a steel bracket that is extremely hard to remove, and replace. Even Lens Crafters that is owned by Luxotica that owns Ray Ban refuses to replace the nose pads.
I remember my father wearing prescription aviators in the 70's.... I thought they were so damn cheesy. What's funny is that my youngest sister's first boyfriend was the grandson of the founder of Bausch and Lomb.
Love Aviators, they bring out my jawline, Accentuates my eyebrows, hairline and nose. Depending how you dress you can make a cheap pair of aviators look like $1,000. My wife thought my Auto Zone Aviators were a high brand pair because it matched my suit so well.
True. I bought these rose gold stylish aviator sunglasses with a very nice mirrored frame to it. I always wear them with my dress shirt & dress shoes! People always tell me they must’ve cost at least $500, little do they know I got them online for $15 bucks! To be honest, if you were to look at the sunglasses you’d think they go for at least $100! lol! Very stylish sunglasses!

I can’t wear sunglasses, but I do have transitional lenses fortunately.
When I was younger I wouldn’t be found dead in Aviator’s but now that 60 is around the corner it’s probably my favorite all around pair of sunglasses
Army aviator, ret., here. Have always worn Raybans, though have a number of issue glasses, some w/ the silver frame I think I’ll dig out from the depths of my dresser drawer. 😂

Personally, I saw top gun maverick, and I was dying to get a pair of Tom cruise style gold Ray Ban aviators. And I now have 3 pairs of different color lenses . Highly recommended

I get my eyewear from Glasses, USA. They have hundreds of frames available and if you wear eyeglasses to see, they will put your prescription in the frames. Been using them for the last 8 years, every 2 years new glasses right after an eye exam. I have the blue wrap around, mirrored clubmasters, and orange Spy+ high def. 1 pair got a nick in the lens right in front of my eye when riding my motorcycle. Rather have that than something in my eye!
Do you think their prescription is accurate? I just ordered from GlassesUSA and am waiting for the glasses to come.

However, not really sun safe , as due being flat at front , sunlight can still get in sides and from above.
I prefer sunglasses that have 'Wings' to protect from sunlight.
But NOT the thin wrap around visor style.
I've been flying for over 40 years. Former Air Force and currently an international B-767-400 category for a major Airline. My sunglasses are Ray-Ban Aviators both inside and outside of the cockpit since 1980. I like them and my wife really loves it when I wear them.
I've noticed about half of my FO's wearing aviators. You'd think that number would be higher.
Gotbsome Puma glasses once they are great.

I got a new pair of sunglasses last week and no matter what a tried on I kept going back to aviators! When first tried them on, I immediately thought "damn I look cool!".
Once you go wrap bar curve 8 you realize how poorly aviators block sun. That’s if you actually wear them for sun protection

I favor round eyewear (spherical lenses) and have many pairs -- it's my long-time preference and an homage to both John Lennon and the great silent film star Harold Lloyd. Please don't shame me -- I have never owned/worn a pair of aviator sunglasses. I acknowledge their coolness. (Maybe I'll look into them, no pun intended.)
I have a few pairs of the exclusive Matsuda TERMINATOR-style sunglasses that Linda Hamilton rocked in the film. These frames, although round, have an aviator-esque styling at the bridge and evoke that look. When I wear them, I can't stop the compliments from coming.

Sadly I just don't think aviators look that great on me. It's like the lines, angles and shapes are too similar to that of my face and looks redundant. Rounds on the other hand seem to be my go-to for most stylish.

Don't get me wrong, i love me a good pair of aviators (square are the ones i prefer) but, honestly: what's the big deal about these? They are hardly functional and they look odd on most (only a few can pull them off i think. Wouldn't wraparounds be a better, more functional alternative?
I mean, when it comes down to it, overall sun protection is the name of the game and aviators don't really do a good job at keeping sunlight out, especially from the sides and at the top.
If only there were some square wraparound aviators out there...i'll have to keep looking ;-)

Isn't it also true that aviators aren't often worn with a hat? Other than a few military uniform hats, your video showed mostly bareheaded men with aviators. Is this because aviators became popular after hats fell out of favor? So are aviators just a modern style for clean-shaven pretty-boys like Tom Cruise and that big guy?
Are they stylish or do they primarily suit shaven men? Some pilots have needed for the mask to seal when in the cockpit, but other than this practical necessity which very few have, shaving has historically been considered effeminate. You broached the subject of beards in another video some time ago, and mustaches more recently, and in that video you discussed the history of facial hair a little more. While Chuck Norris once wore aviators with a trimmed beard, isn't this style of sunglasses more typically worn by people clean-shaven or with only a mustache?

i like my CARRERA 100/S HKY EJ & PANNER Men's Retro uni-frame Aviator Polarized. SUNSKI makes some good sunglasses too but their aviators are too small. BLENDERS are junk
